Right... #143.
The Car: VW Golf GTi

As per the usual opening spiel, I'm always open to requests for upcoming weeks. No set deadline to speak of, but when we get enough entries, I'll post the poll.
Images Must be resized to 1024x768 or smaller. Images that are not resized will not be included in the poll. Also, please mark your final entry as such with some bold red writing. It makes it clearer to me which entry is to be used, as many of you (including myself) often post WIPs. As one last detail, please post the actual image for your final entry, rather than a thumbnail.

Final Entry

This is the first chop ive done of a car, ever! So keep in mind a newb here when it comes to cars. I use photoshop everyday almost but mostly on wedding pictures because thats most of my work. Oh and also i left the front wheel for the reason of i was wanting it to have the "taking it to the strip tuner" type look to it. Most of the time when taking a FWD to the strip to run people usually put a set of crap rims on the front and keep the nice one's on the rear. So, what i did there.

First automotive chop? Nice. There are a fair number of members who have been at it for a... while... and are about that good. I'm quite impressed.
Keep at it!

Thanks! I will be doing them from now on to improve a bit. Someone had posted a forum that hosted tons of tuts for auto chops and that really helped me out a good bit. I really was having trouble putting new panels in and making the colors match though. I couldnt get it right so i just used the factory ones like the side skirts of the car and skewed them out and cleaned it up after. So maybe i can get the whole adding parts from other cars down soon. In a way doing cars is actually harder than making someones mom look like she hasnt had a rough life...lol. I am going to try to keep them realistic. Oh and was the ghost type graphics and the ultra shaven body too much? Trying to get a feel of what everyone does with them.

Graphics look alright, but I'm very particular about trying to make cars as realistic as possible. With all that shaving, there aren't any panels left on the car, so from a realistic point of view, I wouldn't go there myself.

Looks pretty good for a first try tho. 👍

Final entry (grill delete, side skirts, lower front bumper, rear wheel, lowered, color and graphics, body shave, headlights, clouds in scenary sky, and flip hori just to make it look diff) I didnt shave the door off but looking it does look like i did, guess the graphic overlay made it look like i did.

Forgot the red letters and all before

breakpoint, i agree with slides, you should of left some detail on the side panels, the car is too smooth, looks unreal, cant u do that same color scheme but preserve the curves? other than that for a first chop, that is way better than my first. 👍

Next time i wont go shaving crazy:)
I just love the look of a clean car, but i can see i went a bit overboard. But i will always shave the gas lid, hate em. What do you mean about preserving the curves exactly? Are you talking about giving the paint more curve depth in general?

Well, Final Entry

Standard front skirt modified a bit, front mount, vents, paint, carbonfibre hood, more vents, pumped rear fender, cage, badges, proportions changed to have less metal on the sides for a less slab sided look etc... Still not happy. What do you guys reckon?

i like ur mirror slides, your back tire looks really wide IMO and it has some red where it almost touches the car body at the top of the tire.

breakpoint, i meant the aspects on the side panels, like the curve that is right behind the back wheel should have some color variance or shadows there to show depth. well all this IMO, others may think different, but nonetheless a good first time entry.
"In a way doing cars is actually harder than making someones mom look like she hasnt had a rough life"
i think that would be harder, may you just have more practice...

I get what your saying now, basically i need to pay more attention to where shadows and reflections should be on the car. Actually its alot easier to fade away wrinkles because of the fact that your face has allot of texture to it. With a smooth car its harder to make it more realistic, well IMO anyways. Maybe its just that ive been doing weddings and other types of photography for awhile and its just "the norm" for me to touch up peoples defects. I could do so much to someone and nobody would ever even suspect that it had been altered in anyway, with my car chops its obvious. Maybe in a couple of years i can change that:sly:
But thanks for the tip though, i will use it!

Seeing as i was the one who requested this pic im going to try to get an entry in. I should have one by sunday, monday at the latest.
EDIT!
change of plans, it turns out im gonna be away till monday but i said i'd have an entry so here it is. Whipped it up in like 10 minutes before dinner, just so i got somethin in.
FINAL

-Change colour
-Window and headlight tint
-Modify lower grille, intakes, and fascia
-Chin spoiler
-Side rocker panel and panel vent
-Blackout lower trim and mouldings
-Wheels
-Lower car
-Modify mirror
-Remove trim

That's about all I can think of.
I'll put out a last call for entries right now, with plans to end #143 on the weekend.
Any requests for #144?

Well far as a request goes mine would be a very broad one. How about an older muscle car? All i see are new imports and such so i figured maybe something like a 70 Nova or a 66 Malibu or something of this nature. Or maybe not even a car, maybe a motorcycle or something to make it a little more challenging and different.

We've done a '66 El-Co, but I was thinking of a 1969 Dart GTS, possibly. If I can find any decent pictures. In the case that I can't find any, a second generation Camaro or Firebird is a possibility.

haha yeah that was the first place i looked too, seen that one but the convertible turned me off. Google Images thanks you.
