Hey, everyone. It, finally, is time for #144.
The Car: 1962 Chevrolet Impala

As per the usual opening spiel, I'm always open to requests for upcoming weeks. No set deadline to speak of, but when we get enough entries (And I have time), I'll post the poll.
Images Must be resized to 1024x768 or smaller. Images that are not resized will not be included in the poll. Also, please mark your final entry as such with some bold red writing. It makes it clearer to me which entry is to be used, as many of you (including myself) often post WIPs. As one last detail, please post the actual image for your final entry, rather than a thumbnail.

Oh, good its the ones I hate. I actually like the 59 and 60s though. I really love the late 60s style!

I remember when i believe it was car craft that had done a super nice 69' and it actually got stolen from the garage they had it stored at. They found pieces of it on ebay and such, sad it was an extremely nice impala.

I remember seeing an episode of Dream Car Garage (Anyone? Used to be on SPEED?) a 1962 Impala done up to race-spec with a rollcage, NASCAR-style wheels, and a new suspension and powertrain. And a paintjob almost exactly like Slidesquad's entry, with a few sponsers tacked on.

Anyway, that's where I got the inspiration for this week. I might try and re-create it, or I might do something different.

I was going to go with a race-spec version too. But tried to do a mild-cruiser type deal, looked pretty good for around 20 minutes worth of effort, and thus gets used.

Basic idea is decent. The sideskirts are definitely something I wouldn't have thought of.
My biggest piece of feedback would be to add some more shading/shadows to the lower parts of the car and on the floor.

Final Entry

Ok well here is my entry this time around. Really when i do one of these i don't just chop the car, i do the background too. Did it in the last one also but all i did was the sky (not like anyone would notice). On the floor i just mixed some travertine tile with the ugly tile that was there Was going to to do a black and white check floor but just to cliche. Reason i do the backgrouds is well, i just like too. I did allot to this oldy. Tubbed the rear, new rims, color, shaving, tint, recolred interior, black top- hood-trunk lid (what kind of semi pro street would it be without that>) changed grill a bit, side skirt, lowered, decals, aluminum racing dash (with all autometer gauges....you can't see those:sly:) exhaust, lighting\slight drop shadow. I really wanted to do something with those headlights but couldn't come up with anything that would fit the era of the car. All i can think of really. But anyhow i tried so maybe this one looks better than the last, i took some advice about different areas i messed up on the last one and put it to use.

yeah the tires that were on the set of torque thrusts i used looked horrible and i couldnt really find any that looked right so i airbrushed the tires. I just didn't feel like spending more time on em....lol. Lazy:dopey:

Does the subject on this one just turn everyone off? The last one had pictures thrown up so fast and this one just seems abandoned. Poor classics, all these new technologies just left them behind. Well i don't care because vtec can never compete with 800ftlbs of torque pumped out from a BBC. Don't get me wrong is respect every brand of car. Ive had a gsx eclipse that was a decent little car, nothing ive had could compete with the pure launching g's of that thing. Felt like your neck was going to break when you launched. But thats the feeling you get when you launch at 5,200 rpm with awd :sly:
Come on guys lets see those impala's!

I think the entries will come in, eventually.

I may or may not be able to participate in this comp, as I will be moving this weekend.
I also happen to be letting my brother take possesion of the desktop with Photoshop on it, and I won't be getting a laptop to replace it for a few weeks.
As such, like I said earlier, I probably won't be able to participate this week. No promises, though. But I still will manage the next week and polls, etc.

I'm almost done with mine... :D

FINAL ENTRY

Hardest thing I've ever done.

Droptop taken from a 56 Eldorado.

i think changing the background would make the convertible chop a lot easier

Indeed, but that would also take away from the chop also. If you don't change the background it would make it better all around just by showing that you took the time to do it the hard\right way.

But if changing the background gives the chop a cleaner, more realistic look, for less effort, why not? It doesn't matter how long it takes.

It might give it a cleaner look if you don't take the time to do it right. To my eyes if someone switches the background to make it easier on them then that brings the overall quality down because they were lazy wankers.

Touche. I tend to look at the idea and the execution on the car rather than on making the background perfect. But I do believe off topicness is raising its head here.
