Another sign (other than the NGP) that Sony is finally winding down the PSP. They have just announced they are going to remaster some of the formats biggest / best games for use on PS3. This is similar to the HD collection's they have been issuing with remastered PS2 titles and it called the Playstation Portable Remaster Series.

This is also a way of getting backwards compatibly with the NGP because these remastered games can also be played on it. Its seems backwards compatibility in the console world has actually become 'sell it to you again'!

But there are some great changes, they will be in HD with improved graphics, most will have online play and some will have 3D support. Also new content, control remapping and tweaks might be included. I'm really excited about this because I always wished that you could play some of those titles on PS3. A remastered version of something like MGS Peacewalker would be amazing.

So far Monster Hunter 3 is the only game which has been announced, read more here...

Well most PSP games are scaled down versions of regular Playstation games so aside from games like Crisis Core, Peace Walker and the two GoWs I can't really think of any other PSP games that I'd want to play on PS3 that don't already have a PS3 version.

GTPSP. 💡

Hm, that COULD look great, and playing that with a wheel, oh how aousoume would that be lol.

I think its very cool. I like the ability to take your save between PSP/PS3 like the PSone games. Would definitely be keen on a game like Monster Hunter to be taken between my home console and portable. I believe they have already shown MHP3 on NGP as well, so being able to continue that save and be cross platform is great! Why couldn't they have done this sooner.

If they carry this on in a big way, I would like to see bundled deals with the PS3 game + PSP/NGP version at a discounted combo purchase rate or something to that effect. The only one that I can think of would have been Formula One 2006 where you could run the same save across PS2/PSP, but had to pay full price for each game to be able to do so. With the digital distribution model, this should be more realistic to achieve with the point of just paying for the license of the content than physical media.

Hopefully we'll get a nice port of Peace Walker. A fantastic release in the Metal Gear Solid series, and would be even better played on the PS3.

I just only hope Sony streamline all these different gaming formats / products a bit better because its becoming slightly confusing...

PS3 Download Games - For PS3
PSP Download Games - For PSP
PSP Remastered Games - For PS3 & NGP
PS2 Remastered Games - For PS3
PS1 Download Games - For PSP & PS3
PSN Minis - For PSP & PS3
PSN Games - For PS3
Playstation Certified Games - For Xperia Play

I would love a remaster of Pursuit Force and Extreme Justice, did you know that they were actually working on a PS2 version and even released screens but it got canceled, maybe they could release that as the PS3 version. Also I could see PSP exclusives like Patapon coming over although that hardly needs the PS3's processing power!

Hmmm... Can anyone imagine a 'Classic GT Collection' with GT 1,2,3 and 4 in HD, with trophies, HD and Anti-Aliasing for about £40... 💡

EDIT: And NFS Underground 2 and MW would be nice...

I was thinking the same thing. Ace Combat X would also be a nice addition.

This looks like it could get pretty interesting.

Maybe this is what the big E3 announcement will be - GT PSP Remastered?
At least this way we'll get to race on some of those missing tracks finally on our PS3.

Would explain the tracks Yonis found. I'm almost certain GTPSP will be remastered.

I'm also willing to bet the FT-86II will be included in this.

Now, about those in-race saves....

It would really really piss me off if they did a GT psp port to ps3 instead of just adding what's missing to gt5. I'd probably incinerate both games for entertainment and never buy from PD again. Probably.

A remaster of GT PSP is so not going to happen because its basically GT4 with a few more cars... which in turn is what GT5 is mostly made up of. So you already have your 'remaster' on PS3 right now, its called GT5!

I would hope they spend their time porting some unique PSP titles.

What would happen if the cars look better than GT5's standards!

^A remaster is not a complete rebuilding of the games graphics and you won't get standards looking any better than they already do on GT5 without completely remodeling them.
