You only missed lag, disconnections, 768 errors, more 768 errors, 3 new rooms, crazy car handling, 1 lap qualifying, more lag, and 2 winners according to GT5s messed up networking.

that and I still have no idea if Husq was even in the race

Agreed. Not really a fan of this car either.
Something told me you wouldn't. The weight distribution is rear-biased, which makes it handle... weird. At least on my end, I eventually lost the rears first and given how you baby the fronts, I can imagine you searching for forward grip.

He was... I think.

Not much of a problem with forward grip, was just forced to slow by using less throttle. At best I was only running high 59's anyway.

To be fair, my PB had been a 56.78, but the room was so bad, I don't think I ran a 57 all race.

When practicing for the first race at laguna seca I accidentally ran a bunch of laps with SS tires on. They were only 3s/lap slower but much livelier.

Racing tires = Junk

If PD added maybe 10% more grip on the sports soft, while bumping up the wear rate, that would make a better racing hard tire.

The physics are just plain screwed, really. Racing tires I think need more low speed grip, and less high speed grip. Of course this could also be a problem with the aero physics as well. Hell just watching real cars go around a race track you can tell it's way off in-game.

Definitely had the right tires on.

sorry, I meant you'd like the car better with SS. It feels quite a bit better.

and yeah, that's why I'm probably going to upgrade my pc and get iRacing soon.

I really need to go to my friends and try iRacing.

Wish I could join ya, just not gonna happen anytime soon. Unless someone wants to start a "get a PC for turbo so he can play iRacing" fund.

I'd chip in a few $ ;) 👍

All I know though is I need a win at Motegi... Glad I'm pretty good there; but I'm sure Dom will practice more so I shouldn't let the JGTS reunion keep me from giving it an 'A+' effort. :sly: ... Of course Rich, Travis and Husq are still in the hunt too. Shaping up to be a pretty good final at Le Sarthe.

edit: oh, and FYI CSL got fast lap by a few hundredths when we were doing 57's chasing admiral 1-stop

I was a full second off my PB running a best of 57.9 in the race for fastest lap. You and Tim were very close, both at 58 flats.
Honestly I still believe the speed is lost due to practice>race with tire wear. I've never set a PB in a race when I practiced as much as we did this week.(Not that we practiced that much, but enough) And you ran a 1 stop, and were behind me the good tire laps of the first stint. Not really any hot laps in there to run.

Basically, if you're setting PB's in the race, you probably should have practiced more...

Put me in the "I want iracing" pool.
I'm in it too. :)
I won't be getting it though, FM4 maybe. For all the money for iRacing(comp and all) I could damn near get the CBR I want.
GT5 disappoints me, but it's what I have. We did well as a group today getting through the problems though.

That's 2 hair-line finishes (for the win) I've been jipped of getting to experience in this series out of 4 races.:(
On to Motegi...:)

Well just keep in mind that iRacing's expensive. It's fun for your first couple seasons, if you really play it right, then what do you do? You won't be able to race who you want to because of splits, you'll have to balance grind and sandbag to do that unless you wanna just practice together all the time. The other choice is hosting races or leagues, then you have to tailor those around who has what cars and tracks, usually ending in compromise for every one. And that's my problem with iRacing, unless you're just gonna go lonewolf in official racing and are fine with it, you can't "just" race.

and I haven't even talked about the comunity. Sure, find out for yourselves, but trust me when I say it's not the pie in the sky solution you're thinking it is. The best it is is a break from GT5. Then you realize what's good about it and how you really never have all you think you can get and you become fine with working with what you've got in GT5 and making the best of it. I got lucky in that I did iRacing beforw GT5 so that never let me take GT5 for granted, or any other sim really.

Oh hey, Eddie ;)

Give us your thoughts on the finish situation if you can?

This is unprecendanted. There's no official or analgous real life racing method to handle it with so you get the luxury of calling it your own way. But I would need Rich's replay, get his total race time then compare it against the TRT of the other drivers in contention for placement.

Great post.

The biggest hold up for me is having not tried it. To do a PC and then purchase game. It would be a large investment into something I haven't experienced to make a honest decision if I really want it.

As well GT5 is still a lot of fun for myself. I get a slip of reality with the paraphernalia I've added to my experience. Had a lady friend over last night trying it out. She had a great time. Spinning out after she started getting comfortable was her demise. A few spirits and trips had her dizzy. LoL Car friends can't get over how incredible the experience is. So GT5's heart is still pumping out the good times here. ;)

-----------------------

My thoughts on Rich's situation. At first I was making decision off personal feelings. Which was award points for first too both.

However coming at it in the respect of no replay and everyone else seen a different winner. It hard to deny the person that finished visually to rest of the field.

---------------------------

I've got a suggested option. Different host next week. Steve. I love you man. But your rooms are lil unstable. Running trips I have a good indicator on how stable rooms are. If I get any glitches on sides the it is indeed an unstable room. I don't get this in many rooms. I have gotten it in both your series lately. Even had my sides DC in the NASCAR both weeks. Before race only slight glitch here and here during race. Basically somebody for some reason is not jiving. Cough Paul. LOL poor guy, Maybe this type of thing is taxing your internet to much, idk.

Not to brag but we do have very good connection here. We have a main tower in our town and the connection around here is known to be some of better from Comcast. 20+ down through wifi and 4+ up. Pings are 20-30 mil on a close server. Forget the Indy to Cali and Indy to London times. Think Euro was around 100. I get A to A- on ping test. ( my 3 ps3's are hard wired and all other devices are wifi, my thoughts was wired had priority. Or should)

So after all that. I'm willing to host for you. Or attempt it anyway. Rich and others always seem to be perfect in my rooms.

Again. There is some others here that can host as good. Don't know if their willing. Just saying I am willing to help the cause.

What we could do. You make hour early room. Before Q I leave make room with exact car count. NO RANDUMBS and we get it on!!!

Whatcha think about any of that? Just ideas won't be offended by saying no thanks. LoL

There is no replay from Rich though.

and he doesn't remember his finish time, because he disconnected shortly after the (sur)real(?) finish.

price is at an all time low right now... which + all the lobbying people keep doing in its favor keeps nudging me to give it a whirl. But ugh... I hadn't even thought of that. I just want a new platform for this thing we do. GT5's got me for a few more months but it's really wearing me down. :/

Similar reasons here. I did actually play NR2003 plus a few 90's GT games on the PC way back when I first bought the wheel. I kept spinning out.

I'll echo Dom's post earlier and say that it's irrelevant since he drove differently after I disappeared. I did as well since I was just cruising around.

For the record, the thought of writing down the time came a few seconds after I tried getting back to the lobby. I do remember slapping my head afterwards. :dunce:

then I'm afraid, for me, it'll have to be a dnf.

Does he get Points for last position. He did invest the time and was something he didn't have control over. Just seems something for his efforts this week an today. ;)

As for PC racing the P CARS is also looking promising. It maybe the game that pushes me over the edge. That would be two known great SIM games then. Modern and one is stunning so far. If it is GT5 physics or better it will be a win.

Well, that's what I said in the lobby when I rejoined! :P

Don't know we have to drag this out. Like I said before, I feel like I won, and the game can't take that away from me. :D

That's the usual procedure. In fact, that helped me win the FMSC championship. ;)

Thinking everyone was feeling bad for you and wanted to find a way to not take a win away. ;)

After the scare at Laguna, this is small potatoes. That and I had some luck with my win last week, so it was time to pay the man.

Honestly, with my current connection, running for a championship's out of the question. It's win or crash trying.

pCars is coming out on all systems, but I won't be caught dead taking that thing seriously. It's just subpar driving, graphics don't do much for me.

the true alternatives to GT5 and "the way we do things" is rFactor 2, GTR 3, and Assetto Corsa.

But those won't be out for a while.

I am interested in seeing how many of us can try rFactor 1 for some of the excellent mods available.

otherwise it's a long wait
