Good to clear it often?

Any time there's a patch or your having connection issues otherwise it speeds up load times. (you don't get those "installing" graphics when cars come on track since they're cached locally)

I got the message again after I quit out of the lobby I was in. So I cleared cache again, hopefully it stays away now.

I'm about to jump on. Anyone have a tune to share for Tokyo, I'm hitting low 50's with a modified Suzuka tune.

Room open : 1472-4711-0167-3383-2668

**closed** getting frustrated!!

Hey dc, I'm about to be on my way home from work so I'll join your room in like an hour if you or anyone else is still around.

How many dudes have been racing in this series since Season 1?

BrosifDuder (formerly known as iamjamen) :)
Wardez
LVSX4MZ3
AlGreen71

Notable absences:
Egghead43, who's been in every season till now.
And Samhain85, who, like he usually does now, might show up later sometime this season.

I've only missed season 2.

Announcement:

It was brought to my attention that one of the drivers from Division 2 was acting inappropriately during last night's race. Upon further review I have decided to get a second (and third) opinion on the matter with the PURE organizers.

A penalty may be imminent.

Once a decision has been made I will post an update.

Update:

After video analysis and getting opinions from another party, I have decided that there will be NO penalties issued from Sunday night's race. It was determined that despite what the incident looked like on video, going by driver explanations and looking at throttle inputs of each driver, the incident could likely have not been avoided and is being judged as a racing incident.

Be careful out there guys. :)👍

Practice at Tokyo anyone? I'm only staying for 45 minutes or so but still.

Just to send us further into despair, Adam ran a 1:47.935 today.

I somehow ran a 48.844 by going bonkers with my driving and somehow avoided smashing into a wall. No way I could drive that way in the race without bringing out a safety car. :nervous:

Should've had him qualify. ;)
He could only stay a while.

Just ran a quick race with carra. My hopes of finding something that doesn't drive like a truck during the race were dashed. Seriously, the insane aero push I get in this game makes me want to quit GT5 altogether. :banghead:

But I won't only because I'm dumb enough to believe that PD will cut it down some via a patch. :dunce:

Lower your rear aero. ;)

There is one other possibility, and this is actually the most likely. I'm going to watch some replays and check into this, but I really have to wonder if you're just not adjusting your speed properly when you're in the draft.
The definition of under steer is when you have to increase steering angle as speed increases. On a neutral car, you'll steer the same amount regardless of speed.
If your car under steers in the slightest, whats going to happen when you enter a corner too fast is under steer, and the easiest time to go too fast is when drafting.

The only thing that makes me even think to mention it, is because I don't have this problem, unless I'm pushing too hard. I can't tell you lowering rear aero will fix it, because I don't know that it does, but it might help.

I find it weird that you are the only one complaining about it.
Actually, carra reported the same thing. However, I also had a loosey goosey rear because I had -0.40 toe. Great up front, but terrible behind. Will need to lower and test again.

Already did.

My rule of thumb is 5 mph less behind someone. What I do attempt is run a different line whenever possible.

I did find out, after over a year of playing this game, why I'm getting destroyed on straights even though I'm drafting.

The common idea is that in GT5, braking distance increases when drafting, I however, disagree.
I've tested it as best I can, being hard to watch the speedo real close under braking zones, let alone during a race with someone in front of me, it's a bad idea, but I've been doing it for 3 months now, and think I have it pretty sorted out.
I've found no significant braking distance increase when in the draft, just that extra speed of only a few mph greatly increases stopping distance. I believe between the blinking light and brake markers we judge braking distances, not by eyeballing, because I don't think that's possible in GT5, at least not for me.
Anyway, because it's so much harder, or impossible (either or) to eyeball a braking spot in GT5, it's very difficult to know exact braking spots while drafting, because you might be going 145, 146, 147, 148, and 153mph into the same corner during the same race, and each mph adds its own chunk of distance that we can't really "see" as we should.

Just my opinion though, actually I haven't discussed it before, so I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. :)

I only get draft wash on certain corners. At tokyo the only place I found it bad was the odd left hander onto the park lane back straight. Was pretty easy to get towed into the wall. Rest of the track was fine, just the usual "following mode" driving style required.

Well when you are in the draft, you accelerate faster, if you accelerate at the same spot as normal, or just don't wait quite long enough, you'll start going too fast to make the corner.
If your car under-steers coming out of corners at all, without the draft, it will cause you to under steer coming out of corners much worse in the draft.
Most people set their car to under steer, pretty much all of us.

The best change you can make to reduce on-throttle under steer is making the front shock compression stronger than the rear. The closer you get to 10/1, the more over steer you'll get.

Anyone willing to share some tune ideas for Tokyo? I am getting quite frustrated by not being able to break into the 49's. I know it is my tune, I am driving the wheels off this thing consitently in the low to mid 50's. I just cant figure it out.

The whole track is high speed with basically no tire wear. So I got really aggressive with the alignment and differential to dip into the 48s. Me and welsh both agreed there's also a surprising amount of time in tuning the gears for the corners (like having a 1st gear short enough to get over 60mph so it can be used to keep the revs up and the car rotating into T1). I really wish this car had a 6 spd >:E

My Billies are breaking in a car right now but I can put my tune up later.

You know that's something about this game that irks me, is that the car turns better in a lower gear, even though you are traveling the same speed. Doesn't seem right.

Actually it does. The differential is after the transmission. That should give you a hint.

By aggressive you mean higher values as far as camber and toe are concerned? I felt it should be high due to the speed carried but I just didn't know how high I could go without sacrificing in other areas. I need to read up some more in the tuning section.

I did notice that when playing with the tranny I could make or brake a lap time solely based on that. I would run stock tune or modified tune but if the tranny tune was off then I was slow.

ok, here's my car... it's good for 48's in my hands.

don't ask me how I made the gears; I just fiddled with it until I got the shortest 1st I could get while keeping 5th @ 1:1
