Also, it is clearly evident to me after watching the full D2 replay that some people in particular need to learn to CONTROL THEIR RAGE, ANGER, STUPIDITY, BACKLASH, ETC. You know who you are. We're better than this.

I would have to agree with everything you said.

I feel if a crash happens under caution, it's the responsibility of the trailing driver to keep from running into someone. But I also think it's not that hard for everyone to put it in second gear and keep the car at a constant speed. We're going slowly enough you don't have to slow down for corners.

For those of us who still hobble around with SD televisions, my biggest complaint in any race is when someone decides they need to start typing up completely irrelevant remarks to the entire field. It takes out a huge amount of screen space, making it difficult when you have a car right next to you. I nearly crashed a guy in a different series because of it.

And it's flat-out distracting.

Just before the last caution, I think I got on the throttle too quick coming out of Degner 2, got sideways, and drove straight into the wall :ouch: I'll admit I was extremely frustrated by that point, but the main reason I quit out is I didn't want you to call out a caution on my behalf. Just as i was quitting out, I saw you call out caution, I yelled out no don't do it, not knowing there was a bigger wreck up ahead. In hindsight I should've known you wouldn't call a caution just for one damaged car.

At that point I was watching GrayFox. I watched him go off into the sand and had no intentions of calling a Safety Car until I glanced at the map and saw a car nearly stopped behind him. I switched over to you and noticed the engine damage so I went ahead and threw it since two cars were in trouble at the same time.

The last thing I'll say about cautions is that on restart, especially later in the race, some people get a bit more aggressive, which can suck when others are trying to be a little conservative too avoid the pack in front of them.

Yes, I agree, wholeheartedly. 👍

Next week should be interesting, no sand traps, no grass, no run off areas, just walls. :scared:

Should be interesting. I wonder if anyone will try to purposefully bring out a caution? Surely no one will stoop that low.

So you say me and my teamy need to have race talk on so we can chat back and forth collaborating caution period? LoL I ain't wrecking in purpose. Hard enough time avoiding them on accident.

ACTUALLY RT you should look into that PC software. You can do mics through it and then cautions could be typed and told to those that choose to listen in.

Announcement:

It was brought to my attention that one of the drivers from Division 2 was acting inappropriately during last night's race. Upon further review I have decided to get a second (and third) opinion on the matter with the PURE organizers.

A penalty may be imminent.

Once a decision has been made I will post an update.

If warming of tires is going to become an issue, we may do away with it. I'm going to wait a race or two to be sure.
Eliminate it. I tried it, and it didn't even work.

Personally, I was fed up with how few gave me any of those last night, so I drove quite aggressive (at least in my book, it was). Am I happy with myself? Not exactly. 2nd felt like 10th. That's not how I want to drive out there, but if that's how the field racing, then all I can do is adjust. :indiff:

Yet if there's one takeaway from this race, it's this. I'm getting tired of people shoving their noses on my inside from too far back at the corners. Happened so many times yesterday, I'm not going to be as nice about it anymore.

Anyways, while I was uploading the replays, I stumbled onto something that may or may not make me much more competitive. Did a quick test before going to bed at Tokyo. My PB of 1:49.78 quickly went down to a 1:49.384 so early results are promising. 👍

Ok, two more vids.

Below's a third angle of the big Suzuka crash.

Oh, and I stumbled onto this. Play this starting at around the 16~18 second mark:

Then play this from the beginning:

The Suzuka crash, as announced by Mike Joy! :dopey:

Another vid, doing something I probably would have avoided altogether if my eye wasn't twitching at that point.

That was me you were passing. I thought it was clean, I was so mad that I left the door open so wide for both of you to pass.

I actually drifted to the middle so I wouldn't ram into your bumper by accident. Didn't expect that result at all. :ill:
And nice overtake in the last vid outlaw.
If only I could pull it off more often. In terms of nice overtakes on me compared to overtakes by me, the ratio's probably 10 to 1. :dunce:
I hate Tokyo... but got down to a 1:48.2.
And my 49.3's squashed like a bug.

Based on my calculations, if I don't get any faster, I'll probably start 5th-7th in D2, so I need half the field to crash again for a podium. :boggled:

I noticed you need a bit more aggressive setup here at Tokyo. Went 3/7 on the brakes, and increased the braking and acceleration values on the diff.

I thought you gave that vid of your pass as an example of stuff you brought up in the quote above, no?

Here'e my take on incident I was involved in. I got bumped from behind by CSL (innocent mistake) going into turn 1 and went off track but maintained control. It looked like he was gonna slow down to let me in front of him but he was turned by someone else in the process. As i was returning back on track they slid in front of me and i couldn't avoid them.

I enjoyed the race, except for finishing under caution. I like the new rule change for always finishing under green. After the 1st caution i was in front of some faster guys than me and I knew they were looking to pass me as soon as the can but I wasn't gonna make it easy for them. I wasn't trying to block anyone. They tried to pass me at a wrong spot where i can still get a run on them and i say to myself "Game on!"

All and all it was a fun race for me and this may be my favorite FMSC season.

9 out of 10, I would have backed off well before this corner. That time, I didn't and I was too focused on Owens, so I missed my braking point. I went toward the middle to avoid ramming deth, but it ended up being an overtake by mistake, if such a thing exist.

Generally, if I'm not within a car length of the ahead car and I don't have a run, I stay tucked behind, giving them the chance to hit their braking point and hit their desired line without interference. I had assumed cars behind me will do the same, but after 20+ league races under my belt, I'll probably ditch that line of thinking and drive more defensively from now on.

and the walls claim their first victim.

GTP_Welsh-Bain :: 1'51.991 | crash

sad too since he was hitting 48.9 in practice.

For the Q sessions is a light brushing of the walls overlooked or are they marked dirty laps at Tokyo?

I don't think they'll do much other than slow you down, but good observation.

I'd say that we'll allow one "accidental" bump for each lap, any more than it'll be considered dirty.

Edit: People are actually qualifying already?

Way to go Nige! :D

Just before running my qualifier, I had a lap that was 0.35s up on the 48.9 at the 2nd split too, so felt good. Poor 1st flier, then had a brain fade and ran in too deep at the final corner trying to set-up a good exit for my 2nd flier, hit the wall and took damage.

C'est la vie!! ;)

Two so far. Both exchanged greetings with the wall.

outlaw4rc was the first to tame the walls
He ran is qualifying lap with me watching, both laps are clean.
1:49.684
1:49.972

Tamed the walls but bungled the last corner on my 2nd flier. Probably wasn't any faster anyways.

Car feels okay, but it's certainly no rocket ship. Probably another mid-pack start, so hopefully, the safety car period comes out at opportune times. :sly:
