I saw that in the mirror. Heartbreaking :ill:

Especially since it seemed that I had good enough tires to have another go at you before the line.

BTW... How did you an Litchi catch me up so severely in the pit stops?

Yeah I face-palmed myself at Laguna by spinning into the inside tire wall on Rahal.

I saw you guys coming up in my mirror to lap me, so I decided to just move out of the way, didn't want to mess with what looked like quite a battle for first. I think I ended up going off the track on turn 5 trying to give you guys room, but it felt like I spent just as much time in the dirt as I did on the track so who knows :yuck: When I got to Rahal, I saw you petering your way up the hill, I was like omg what the hell happened to brosif?

I really do not know. I got sight of Litchi around middle of first stint, but I gained a few tenths per lap at best. So I pitted early on 17, but I think he did on 18... and suddenly at some point you were in between in us. I thought you must have had an accident!

At the end I had just enough tyre but my head was worn out. I had been hunting Litchi for like 25 laps straight, and you also. I started making mistakes and getting nervous, preparing for a nailbiting photo finish that I was not at all confident about. But then it was all given to me :boggled: :D :( 👍 👎

Good battle all along though! :)

It shocked me when I came out since I'd gotten a nice gap to Litchi and wardez and carracer weren't out of my sight yet. Watched one pit on 18, one on 19 and I came in on 20 like I'd planned from the beginning; and at that point I was in p2. Then I came out p6.
Must have gotten one of those GT5 "i'm just going to add 5 seconds to your lap time, ok?" pit-stops + the time you guys made up vs my scrubs for 2 laps.

GR though, I won't make it that easy again. ;)

Important hockey game tonight so I'll probably be doing my tuning and quali tomorrow.

I had some practice earlier was doing low 1'40 hopefully I will be able to hit 1'39 by the weekend :P.

Two clips from Murray Valley.

At this point, my tires had less wear. Yet I almost lose it at T1 exit by touching the dirt. Fortunately, I saved it. Welsh wasn't as lucky at the next corner.

Sorry for the poor quality. With no safety car, it never got dark enough for headlights. I was cruising along when this happened. Fortunately, I was going slower than usual through the hairpin, so I had enough time to avoid it.

I am hitting 1.40.1xx with a half ass set up.If I can get this car anywhere close to how I feel it should handle I should be able to hit .38.5's is the goal. Carracer be there in an hour if still open.

My best lap at this track was on lap 4 and I got a 1:38.728
I think I max out at 38.5.... not sure how I can do that yet but T2 and T4 had time left.

First, my tune for Indy. A certain someone should really put this in the tuning section since I can't. :sly:

I already Q'ed with a meh 39.5xx but as I learned from other series, it really doesn't matter where you start. Car handled relatively well in the draft, so it's a matter of doing a long run or two to see what small adjustments I need for top performance at the end.

Now, for Laguna clips. 👍

For some dumb reason, I kept it on 4th at T3, so I went wide twice before I finally got the message. Had to shut the door on Brosif, because I knew well enough how awful dirty air is, especially here.

I checked the replay, and my lead was at 2.7 after pit stops. Because of traffic, Brosif was just over a second behind at this point. Then, this happened.

Without the crash, Brosif and I would have run right into this. With my huge lead, I let them have at it. It was fun to watch, and I don't think they knew I was behind them. Unfortunately, my memory card only had so much room, so I don't have the final lap. Other than gravy going off at the Andretti Hairpin, there isn't much that happened.

I know there were a couple of times that you moved off the racing line to make way for me. Thank you for being so aware of what was happening around you! Thanks to the others as well. Oh, and Oshawa, remember it's usually better just to let off the accelerator when letting someone lap you. Slamming on the brakes can cause an accident if you are swerving across the racing line. :)

And there's my 2nd big choke job for everyone to see.... :/

I think you did really well. You are focusing on the negative instead of the positives of your race. The Screw is a tough corner and very easy to overshoot. Quit being such a Debbie Downer and be proud of the fact that you had such a great battle. 👍

My goal was to not be in your way for the last corner but was shocked to see how quickly you were on me. I was trying to get off the line leading into the last left. Sorry man.

That's what I said too but he wouldn't listen to me either. :P

It's cool. I was just surprised to see you dive across the line. You would have been fine staying where you were and just letting off. No harm, no foul.

I forgot to thank outlaw for the videos. Thanks for taking the time to make those!

See, this is something I've never had experience with. A lot of people talk about it, but I have never noticed a change in handling being behind someone. I know several people can probably speak up about being on the receiving end of my car being right on their rear bumper, and while doing that I've never really had an issue.

IMO, I think it's because rear-biased brake setups (which many here use) don't work well under draft conditions. They behave quite differently which requires an adjustment period. IIRC, you've always gone with more front brake, a setup I've used before and I'll admit, the car behaves more predictably.

I notice it more when I have a snob nose (raised front ride height). But I think most of it comes from trying to drive a time-trial behind a car rather than racing/following the car in front. Using the same line, brake point, acceleration point when in the draft and expecting it to work is rather naive.

Outlaw's qualifying run last night:
1:39.577
1:39.659

I seem to have lost the link for adding to the qualifying sheet.:dopey:

Granted, although I still believe the draft/wash effects are not right in this game, especially at low speeds. There are things that I've done that has helped me adjust to the draft:

- Revised dampers settings
- Not going overboard with snob nose (+3 front seems like a good compromise)
- Pulling into clean air, then back in line before a corner
- Releasing throttle for a half second before braking
- Using a different racing line than ahead car through corner
- Letting the car turn off-throttle through corner longer than usual

Sheet updated.

Also, I assume you guys know the rules for Turn 11 so I won't have to make some fancy graphic showing you what not to do. :P

I pretty much botched that corner on both my Q runs because I honestly didn't know what was considered dirty. :dunce:
