Does sort of completely defeat the point of racing though...
Spot on.
Even if handicap works for happy amatours in Golf, I wouldn't like it here. What's the satisfaction of winning against a driver in a lesser car.

Please no, One long race. I really really enjoy the long races. Strategy and fatigue. Feel really accomplished afterwards.
Reverse grids usually result in aggressive moves for fast guys to get back up front too.
You might have. It came to me during the middle of the last FMSC, when we had a Saturday and Sunday room, and people raced on which day was better for them. The former was more top-heavy, and had Adam, so I strategically chose Sunday.Same points for both rooms. I like it. Actually have mentioned it before.
Thought I'd try

As for handicaps, they hurt the non-aliens much more, compounded when newcomers come in, and race without ballast. Rather I find more speed to match the top guys than slow them down.
I've forgotten about that. Typical Miata result for me, a nail biter. And I remember my 1st FMSC race with you Rich, it was awesome
Considering that most people wait until the last day to Q, it would hard to pull that off with any consistency. The trouble I see with same points for both rooms is people starting to manipulate their qualification. Why face off the aliens in D1 if you can coast to gold points in D2? Something would have to be implemented that qualification spots matter. If its qualification points we are back to having different point scales in D1 and D2, just recolored.
If people want to win, maybe have 2 half hour races, and the second race is a reverse grid based on the first race results

What annoyed me a bit is that DNFs of D1 @<50% of the distance covered still managed to score more points than me running hard in D2 the entire race. That skewed results quite a bit in my opinion.
But enough of the complaints, I want to compliment you guys for organizing such an awesome series. I had lots of fun and got the hunger for more PURE racing. Anything known about the next series?
Müle;8310621Leave that to TOCA, Spurgy
Well I'm not allowed in TOCA any more
About this odd/even room, I personally don't like the idea.
In a race, I like to have as many people as possible at similar pace to me. If doing the odd/even thing, the number of people I will be racing with will be cut in half.
I think this will apply to most people. Perhaps if in lets say GATE 2 you are just on the D1/D2 boarder it might be different, but if you're a solid D1 or D2 player, you will just end up racing fewer people each race.

I agree 100%
The system we already use is in my opinion, perfect!

That's actually something I've been thinking about recently. Not sure I'm a fan of D1 DNF's being above D2 finishers. Dropping all DNF's down to the bottom of the table is something that could happen in the future.
I will say though... looking at timing and scoring with 38 names; having too many people for one room is a good problem to have. So thanks everyone for making our work worth it.
Now that sure seems like a fair thing to do. DNF's start order after those finishers in D2. I like!!!
Should have been done that way from the start IMO.
R1600TurboSeems like an obvious thing to me.
It's obvious until you have your connection drop on the last lap of a race. Not all dnfs are created equal.
Point scaling will also be reevaluated to make the divisions more fluid and less disparate. Evolution of the format is always job 1.

The penalty for not qualifying is already to start from the rear of the field. You may have a point on the late q penalty. We could bring the deadline closer to the green flag (say, 4 hours) and do away with the late Q.
I like the idea of placing all DNF's after all finishers, regardless of division.
