I finally started to concentrate on practicing for the series tonight. I haven't driven GT300 cars much before this and man these things are a blast! With the low horsepower, high grip, and downforce you can really push these things hard. After about an hour I switched ABS off and started using the Th8RS, two things I haven't really done, and that actually made it more fun. Driving without ABS really made me concentrate on not locking the brakes, a challenge I enjoyed. On GVS I was able to keep laps within about a second of the ABS 1 best lap, no clue if that is good or not. But after doing it I could actually see participating in a no ABS series.

That's awesome, yeah not using ABS also helps slightly with tire wear so it's a good thing to go for. But I'm glad you find them a lot of fun, they really are a blast to drive, but imagine racing them, makes you feel like you're racing bikes at some points with the confidence you gain feeling like you can squeeze in on people all over the place, really cool bunch of cars.

what sort of times are we hitting at GVS so far?

Are we doing the GVS race today?
Did anything change from these dates and divisions from the mass PM?

"Two divisions,

Yeah, all the updated information's in the link in the OP.

So I've been testing between the M3, Garaiya '08, and IS350 at Suzuka. My conclusion is that the M3 at 345hp and 1140kg puts it relatively 6tenths faster than the Arta. Setting the M3 at 335hp and 1120kg I believe is the best option. Unfortunately I haven't thrown down a legit lap worth comparing but I found my laps were more comparable to the IS350 and Garaiya.

I also tried using the mid turbo on the Arta and couldn't turn any faster times. I know it logically should be faster but I couldn't tell a significant difference. It was maybe a few mph faster down the straight but nothing notable.

Wardez, I'm assuming the the quote above from the OP was supposed to be with our first?

Yes, our, Funny how 1 letter can change the whole meaning of the sentence.

When will the divisions be set? When we set them is that it for the season? Oor are divisions set weekly with qualifying? Not sure I understood it. Seems we'll set it then have race q's weekly. Sorry for the questions.

I have done little testing, kind of waiting for the final specs. I didn't want to add to much info to the pot. I think you guys are doing a great job with all the testing. Can't wait for it to start.

.6 sec over a 2.06 lap seems pretty even to me.Using the car w/o ballast would speed up the pre-race procedure but it will be tied for the slowest car on the straights.

Adding the turbo to the Arta was done to improve driveability out of low speed turns (Spa bus stop).Top speed hasnt changed from S3 spec.

Thanks for pointing that out 👍, definitely meant "our."

Divisions are "set" every week as you said. Divisions are determined by fastest qualifying times week-to-week.

You and me both. Think of the new element of brake tuning it would add. And also having to change brake balance or lower overall brake strenght in the middle of the race to manage tyre degradation  I'd love it.

With ABS 1 I hit 1'58.4 but that is with an unbroken in car, no tuning except downforce, and using the shifter instead of paddles. Just a night of having fun while checking the car out. I turned ABS off after 8 or so laps so I'm sure with tuning and trying hard there is a lot of time to come off that. I also don't drive GVS very often and it usually takes me an hour or so to figure out a track.

I might be confused, but IIRC I ran a 53.5 on one of my first 5 laps in the Lexus and Celica at GVS...

That's probably right, I was just messing around, Wardez was just wondering what times I turned. We're both talking about GV full right, not East?

I was testing with a few friends and the FTO got down to a 52.6 in the hands of a pretty fast driver. My average was low-mid 54's in most of the SGT's but this is not a good track for me.

Most likely be missing the first preseason race. My oldest boy has his birthday party the 19th.

This is correct, one of the main things about the pre season race is for everyone to try out their cars to see what they wanna stick with.

OK8

You know there's quite a bit of time and tire wear advantages to be gained by doing this with ABS on as well.;)

What sort of brake balances would you recommend? I tried some slightly rearward biased brakes when testing for the WSGTC playoffs but couldn't decide upon it.

It really depends on the car/track/suspension setup you have.
Generally speaking with these and GT500's I run both front and rear in the 2-5 range, for example starting at 5/4, then 3/4, etc.(or reversed) I usually don't go higher than 5 because I'll brake to hard for a higher setting and lock the wheels more.

Yeah, as posted in the OP, decision's going to be made this Friday.

Also, qualifying for the pre-season race will be handled as non-standard pre-race qualifying.

Rooms will be divided by first come first serve through the sign up sheet I'll be posting here in my next post.
First 14 will be in the first room and the rest in the second, if for some miracle there's more than 28 people, we'll max out both rooms at 16 and that should solve it.

So if you want to participate in this Saturday's pre-season race at GVS simply copy it and paste it in a new post, add your name and the car you're going to try out and that's all.

Cheers
