Never had that bad race.
Paul sorry for contact in first lap, I touched you in the worst moment:indiff:
Samo goes for Snow,I pushed too much gas.
After first accident I was driving allright and jump for a few spots but then,in 20 lap i'd lost my tail in a sec and hit a wall in t4.
I pitted earlier then i thought. With fresh tires I was pushing and trying to catch up.Finnaly when i was a bit closer i had accident with Snow.
And on the end, i ran out off fuel couse i only put fuel for 22 laps:tdown:

This race made Fuji grow on me a little more. Once I really got into rhythm with the track, it felt great. It's just being off throttle for some turns for so long in S3 that felt weird, but then it became relaxing actually. If Fuji was a form of tobacco, it'd be a nice wooden pipe that's easy to hold, smokes easily but gets really hot if you're not patient with your draw.

Did I just say that? Yeah, you read right.
Counterpoint.

This race made me hate Fuji a little more. Once I really got into rhythmic with the track, my tires began falling off, and I had to relearn it all over again. It's just being off throttle for some turns for so long in S3 that I didn't mind, but when 100% of the power goes to the rears, that means even thinking about touching the gas will mean constant tail wagging and getting destroyed by those than can power out with ease. If Fuji was a hot, curvy girl from high school I meet ten years later, she's the size of Jupiter wearing makeup that would make a clown blush, and she snaps at you when she asks you if she still looks pretty, and you show even a hint of hesitation when you answer.

Did I just say that? Yeah, you read right.

:P

Thanks. Don't know when I'll get to do one again, so it had to be good.

Anyways, guess I'll just have to get my racing fix in the depths of Hades... random lobby rooms. :nervous:

What about changing car Rich.. If you wanted you can have my Bandai, don't know if that helps or is rubbing salt into your wounds..!?!?!?!!

We have a guy who does clean racing every Thursday @ midnight Europe time, he has some guys from your way (across the pond) racing with him sometimes.

I could send you his contact details if that helps?

It's not really about the car. I believe the Z was at a disadvantage at Fuji, but given my impressions at GVS and Indy, it would be good at an actual racetrack. The issue's that I have a glitch that, with the race distance, will probably have me DNF with a few laps to go 50% of the time. I'd rather cede my spot, so that someone else can race in D1 rather than Q every week, knowing it could happen.

That being said, I intend to continue practicing every week. Can't allow me to get rusty.

Ooh, peer group pressure!

Woke up a bit late (3:15am), as my phone's battery had carked it unexpectedly early. Fortunately, I'd set a backup alarm for the big race, so a router/PS3 network reset and a coffee, and I was in.

Epic failure on pre-race testing, though. Turned out my transmission topped out in draft, which meant I could be passed, but never get backsies. Meant to test/fix it in my prerace time - whoops. Not Good. Braking to avoid the 100R incident let Tim, Steve and Kevin by, IIRC; going into the chicane closely with Tim with position meant I had to let him have the spot. Didn't get much practice in draft, so that first stint was also pretty bad error-wise, so I lost contact with that group. I saved one near-major error, which got me discombobulated for a bit in front of jash, I think, but I escaped after a while somehow. It was probably my flummoxed driving.

Tires went fine; first pit stop saw me take on two extra litres to be safe, and I managed to come out just behind Paul. I'd been careful on the entry, so the GT gods were kind; I leeched shamelessly for a while, but tried to stay a touch back through the twisties. Of course, it only takes a little error to lose touch that way, but I got to pull the same trick on Petros for a while. He eventually gapped me slightly, only to run out of fuel. I was quite mystified at first, I thought he'd just run long into turn 1.

All in all, I was pretty satisfied. Got some good clean fun, no damage, crashes or spins. Got nice battles or views around them of Paul, SnowCrash, and Petros, among others, at various times. Watching Paul drive angry was fun, too. Waggle waggle! Got past Snow when his fronts bit the dust.

A side note: Using the rhythm method with the high school hottie.... how do you think she piled on the pounds, again? :sly: The pipe will kill you in the end too, mind.

In between, a good battle with DA and a cheeky late pitstop saw me lead the race for all of 1/2 a lap - WOOOHOO, WOOOP WOOOP WOOOP WOOOP, read it and weep boys :D

Then reality kicked in as I fell back into 13th place coming out of the pits :grumpy:

But, at least I was in free air, could hear my car and got fresh tyres, knowing my late pit stop meant I could push the entire 2nd half of the race.

Managed to settle into consistent laps at quali pace or better, little battle with er..... um ....someone... and nearly stole a place on the last lap as the late pit stop served me well, when others were struggling.

Finshing 3 places above my starting postion, no spins, contact, crashes or damage....

All in all, after a nightmare 1st stint, to finish clean and ahead of starting position - mission accomplished

I had a blast racing ya in the beginning. Then once you got ahead of a bit, it got to my head and made mistakes. Lots.

I pitted on lap 22 and saw you pass up the pits and knew I'd gain on you next lap. Then it was game on. I was in the zone. Turned several 37's and low 38's until I noticed my newbie mistake. I didn't take on any petrol during my pitstop. So aggravating. I fell apart from then on. Pitted I think on lap 32, giving up two positions. I had what should've been a 10th place finish in the bag had I taken on fuel.

I should've known though. The SC430 was using 25 liters every 10 laps. So I should've taken on 7 or 8 liters to carry on to the finish. On lap 32 I had 22.3 liters left. Wouldve ran out on lap 40 most likely. Gotta love the feedback from the Lexus steering wheel! Shows fuel load by the tenths of a liter.

Nonetheless, I don't care to be in the back of the pack as long as I have some good battles.

She had the displeasure of being in a relationship with Hermann Tilke. That will do even the prettiest in. :sly:

Ouch, that's harsh man..... :(

Wondered why you did that 2nd stop......

Hmm, it took ages for me to settle down, first 6 / 7 laps were a nightmare, just couldn't hear my car so had to keep looking at rev counter for help, not know if the rear was slipping too... Grrrr..

Completely off topic - any of you guys across the pond watching the NFL - cool game so far 👍

Whats up with the hate towards him I personaly like Abu Dhabi and Istanbull of his tracks :P.

V8 Supercars around Abu Dhabi is so epic .

The vast majority of Tilke tracks are awful. Istanbul is the notable exception that proves the rule.

Fuji and Hockenheim are especially awful, since they used to be good.

My review: I hate this Lexus, I hate this track, I hate the overpowered draft. Onto the next track!!! Sooo........Anyone want to trade cars?

paulmac2k9
Oh Hock and Fuji are his too? I love them aswell :D.

See if you can guess which bit of Nurb GP he's had a relationship with....

Eh, I sort of like 'em now. Must be a cognitive dissonance thing.

Trust me, stick it out till at least this next round at Laguna and you won't regret it. Laguna and our SCs have a very special mutual love for one another.

Speaking of which, if Dom and Cicua see this, I'll likely make a choice of whether to keep the Supra or do the switch by the middle of the week.

Had a few minutes to get some laps at Laguna for the fun of it.

1:21.690 - Nissan Z
1:21.474 - Xanavi GT-R

Only thing I changed from Fuji was the gears. Good thing I'm not racing the Z here, because the bottom of the hairpin... let's just say the Z wants to take my life every time I go through there.

I'm wondering if maybe the Lexus would run well by adjusting gears so that it's only using 5 gears. Has anyone tried this? I know the Lexus has a good torque curve. Comments?

5 or 4... I usually don't use 1st (only used it at the F1 hairpin on the way in) so my cars are usually a 5 spd. already (probably won't touch 1st at laguna).
if you cut the other end and gear 6th to just be for passing on the straight (red-lining 5th @ andretti alone) would be a workable 4spd. (2,3,4,5) usually works well in grunty cars but negligible performance wise. Try them both and see which feels better with shift-points and wear.

yup!!! :D But seriously, if anyone doesn't want their HSV, let me know.

CSL has a sweet spot for a certain orange and white JZ engine Toyota racing product. btw...

I figure keeping the gears to where I use 2,3,4, and 5 would really help to reduce wheelspin...which is a problem I have. I'll give it a try this week some time.

Guilty as charged.
If Adven likes the Supra we could do it that way too.

Something I thought of, iirc points are dropped on car changes? If that's still the rule, I'm not dropping a 4th overall, sorry.

your points stay with weider but you keep the finish from fuji in the driver's championship if you change teams. denso just doesn't get your fuji finish. make sense?

Didn't get a chance to test the Lexus yet. Disliked that car at Fuji due to its understeer, so I won't be surprised if I end up eating sand when I do.

Also, I'll be the first one to say that I won't be surprised if GTR's dominate the top spots this season.

Ohhh I would not speak so fast about the GT-Rs, or any car, dominating. The spread ofnthe field is so even, the tables are going to be changing drastically race to race.

Oh, and the SC handles like an absolute dream at Laguna where GT-Rs actually suffer a tad with oversteer. Trust me, go out and do a few laps in an SC with Dom's tune (look in his signature), I guarantee you'll post a faster time than your best effort in a GT-R.

Iirc you keep your own points, but your team points stay with team HSV.

That sounds fine.

But we need to get this figured out, so go here.http://pure.gate19.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=332

Depends how you view it. Half the field is in a GT-R, so yeah, lots of GTR's up top. To add to it, the average driver in a GT-R is faster than the average driver of other cars.
So yeah, there'll be lots of GT-R's in the top 15, because there's lots of GT-R's, and they have good drivers.

Any HSV, SC430, Supra or Z with the same drivers would do about exactly the same.

It's not about the fastest lap time, but more on how much the car slows down over time with tire wear. I might do a tire run later in the week, just to see whether I'm just imagining things or not. :)
