Will classes that don't have tire warmers have the tires start cold in the race? Or is it still like pCars 1 where everything starts with warm tires in the race and after pit stops?
This is a good point. Think it's been asked a few times to no avail.

I'd like to think the formation lap is the answer. For (V8)Supercars, there are no tyre warmers. So, that formation lap is it.

A cool feature of the game would be limited tyres per race weekend. As an option, of course. This way, players can "road" their tyres during Practice or Qualifying. Then, in a race, use them during a pit stop. Would help with strategy over a sticker tyre.

We know about the formation lap and have seen that implemented in rolling form in the Ferrari at Algarve.

I agree, tyre allocation would be enjoyable and realistic. With series such as TCR and WorldRX allowing a single tyre to be placed anywhere on the car.

Do we know yet if Invitation Events will have any impact on career progression? In terms of the more events you run, the higher probability of a higher tier contract being offered.

I really enjoyed some of the invitational events in PCARS, but some others were poor by comparison, but I felt compelled to do them - in the event that they did have some impact on career progression. For instance, I was offered an LMP2 drive straight after the SuperKarts 2, having won all of the events are the main championship at 100%. Was it the difficulty the influenced the contract offer, or all of the invitations events?

I saw the layout of it today and while it has some interesting aspects like a late joker lap, a braking zone that starts in dirt and continues over tarmac and a high percentage of dirt, there are still some much better rallycross tracks IMO.

If SMS wants to add some more rallycross tracks to PCARS 2 (which I hope they do), in order of importance :

1) Montalegre - Portugal
2) Kouvola - Finland (*)
3) Höljes - Sweden
4) Estering - Germany
5) Mettet - Belgium
6) Biķernieki - Latvia
7) Killarney - South Africa (**)

(*) since Kouvola has been dropped from the FIA WRX calendar after the 2014 season (I'd like to know the reason since the track is awesome) I would expect the licensing costs to be really cheap.

(**) this track is new since 2017 so we haven't seen any races there yet but the layout looks promising and let's be honest, having a race track from South Africa in the game would be awesome. Besides it has a full blown tarmar circuit with multiple layout configurations as well.

Apart from Killarney I have watched races on all those tracks and they are all simply put amazing. Montalegre for the esses with high curbs and drag-race long straight, Kouvola for the high jump on dirt through a forest, Höljes for the simple awesomeness of the track, Estering for that spectacular turn 1 and high speed straight, Mettet for it's already legendary turn 1 into a jump and tight sections and Bikernieki is a new circuit from 2016 with an interesting layout and great location.

I'm personally much more a fan of purpose-built rallycross tracks like Montalegre, Kouvola etc. instead of the modified race tracks like Barcelona, Hockenheim or the WRX tracks from Italy, Turkey, Argentina and the likes (Mettet is the one exception). I think WRX is growing so fast as a sport that the organizers require venues where they can place a lot of spectators hence why the arena sections of Hockenheim and Barcelona have RX tracks. Mark my words, the arena section of the Mexico F1 circuit will follow at some point. :)

Not sure what to think about Silverstone tbh, I read over at the Dirt 4 forums that the owner was afraid of losing the F1 license and has plans to build a new arena around the Stowe circuit that can hold a lot of spectators. Can be interesting for sure but on the other hand I really regret seeing Lydden Hill drop from the calendar. It's a "simple" track for sure but it has its great moments as well, by far the most spectacular joker merge of any track I've seen. :)

Personally I'm very disappointed about Rallycross going to Silverstone - Lydden Hill was the birthplace of rallycross and being a natural bowl set into a hillside, is excellent for spectators. The only problem that I am aware of is the terrible road access - unless you go by motorcycle you can spend literally hours getting in and out of the venue. I guess this might be a reason for switching to Silverstone - the event and crowds were probably just getting too big for Lydden.

Rather than flat and featureless Silverstone I would rather see Rallycross at Brands Hatch again - I attended the European Rallycross GP many times over the years - the layout was great, access and facilities were excellent.

I would definitely like to have the Brands Hatch Rallycoss circuit in Project cars 2 to use with the classic Ford Escort Mark One - hopefully also with a classic Porsche 911 rallycross car as competition - I remember seeing Matti Alamaki and the Brabham brothers wheel spinning all the way up to Druids hairpin - but in tamer looking Porsche's than this!

I fully agree with you there, I prefer Lydden Hill in the FIA WRX over whatever Silverstone might become. But the decision is already made so let's just wait and see how it will turn out.

Next round in the 2017 WRX championship will be Hell in Norway, my favourite tack on the calendar!:lol::lol:

@IanBell @The_American I am super curious, just watched the Porsche video and I have a burning question. For the super expensive 10 million dollar/pound racecars, how do you get the car to feel accurate when you likely don't have someone helping you who has driven one?

I also like how cadwell reminds me of lime rock, short technical and fun to lap around. Will we hopefully see a dlc of some sort with this track and maybe the inclusions of the Daytona Prototypes

You sure we don't ? ^^ investigate a bit and you will find out a lot of interesting things.

The pro drivers are focusing on the cars they know but what about the 100+ cars that are left? Who is fine tuning the rest?

No one (I'm 99% sure). If the underlying simulation engine is good, and the car data is good, then the car behaviour should be correct or very close to correct.
Nobody will fine tune 200 cars, not SMS not ISI not iRacing. It's still a game (or simulation game), and many things will be approximated. Deal with it.

As has been said it may not be possible to check and fine tune the handling of every car using a driver with personal experience of that model, but I am sure good approximations can be made.

@IanBell I'm not sure who SMS use to check the handling of the classic / historic car content, but I suggest they contact Michael Lyons (if they haven't already) - I was lucky enough to meet him at the FIA Masters Historic Festival at Brands last weekend - as well as being a lovely, approachable guy and a complete car nut, he is also one of the worlds fastest drivers of Historic F1 and F5000 cars - his experience also covers Group C, Can Am and old GT cars like E Types etc.

On Sunday he was about 2 seconds a lap faster than anyone else in the Penthouse and Rizla liveried Williams.

wrt to the question on "how a car no one drives can be correctly modeled" here's my take on it.

There is a lot of info in books on many cars, little gems really (the stuff we learn by being part of development ;) ) and there are engineers who pretty much have a very good ideia on how a car should feel by design alone and at last, experience that gives a very few knowledgeable guys the chance to recreate the cars in a virtual world with what we call *VERY* educated "guesses".

And then there are those cars that due to the nature on how things were rapidly evolving at that era could even change from one race to another so you'll never get an accurate representation of them.

And the same happens with the tyres though. Even in the modern day an age. Rubber is a trick little substance to get right even for tyre manufacturers.

No one will ever drive every car in existence, btw. Sometimes it just has to be like this.

But even so, we're getting pretty close and we can all agree that now, more than ever, sims were never so accurate even by our, mere users, expectations. And if we can speculate, imagine what those educated "guesses" can do.

I say imagine but it's for those who are yet to sample pC2 :D :D :D

Nothing has been confirmed either way yet

Not confirmed but as far I can remember SMS replied that PSVR will not be supported day 1 but seriously taken into consideration for future update (not the exact words but something like that, otherwise correct me if I'm wrong)
