You enjoy people spinning off the track only to press the reset button and magically appear back on the track right in your race line? I know I don't, Iv had several races ruined because of this. If you wreck the car, you drive it back onto the track.
I typed return to pitbox. It's in the quote you, uh.. quoted. A. Player shouldn't be able to rejoin when choosing that.

FS7
No need to remove the "reset car" button imo, programming cars in online races to ghost for a few seconds while returning to track + a time penalty for using the "reset car" button should solve the problem.
Or offer a multiplayer host option to disable the reset function...but that's too logical, let's just strip it out of the game entirely because it happens to be inappropriate in some circumstances.

Hi @IanBell I was wondering if we will still be able to move the camera around in project cars 2, ps4 with a keyboard, like we can do in the first game, pretty cool being able to do this..

thanks
rik

It's a double edged sword this... You can get some great and unique shots but you can also easily show off our 'crap bits'... Most race games pile on the detail around the viewpoint of the player.

No decision yet but you've reminded me to think about it ;)

I think this feature is great... I know they can expose crap bits, but on the other hand if someone wants to show crap part of the game he will do it. There are loads of crap shots of Driveclub, Forza and Gran Turismo on the internet, and this games have limited control over camera.

About "reset car": it will reappear in PC2.
you are right, in online races this feature is unfair. But there are cases were you cannot recover , e.g. you lost two wheels in an open wheeler at Azure coast and you close the full track, or your car lays on the head. If ghosting is not active (normaly in leagues) you should be allowed to push the "car reset" button.
Go back to pits is only possible in qualify and free training, not while racing.
Youre right, when you say in league racing its an absolute NO,NO. But imho in funraces ( such w/o idiots on the track) i prefer that exceptions.

Return to pit box is a good option. I'm surprised it's not available during a race online.

I'm not a computer whiz, but why would online not use this feature? Is it because of processing power, so players in the pit box can't watch the rest of the race?
I meant that AC does have a return to pits feature online instead of the 'reset car' option ;)

Not an expert myself but I think this is more a design decision than anything else.

Thanks ian, I think its brilliant, please keep it, it`s superb on replays I love it...Being able to adjust field of view while playing etc is really really good...I think it shows off how good the game is...brilliant details etc..

Wasn't there a "Retire" option in races? This would remove a car from let's say blocking the road..

I think it's a tough one.. Reset being kind of the "unfairest" option in a competitive environment (though totally legit for those who don't take this hobby as serious as some of us so ;) ), retiring to pit would be closest to what can happen IRL (when you crash your car and can't make it to the pits on your own, you're out in most cases), but if I got that right (it's the only example I know so far) when your car breaks down at 24h on Nordschleife you can even be towed back to pits and continue racing after the car was repaired..
These + ghosting share a clear track as an result (race can be continued), but are very different when it comes down to the individual destiny. I guess you won't be able to satisfy everyone out there, it will always need a compromise (for example where to draw the line.. Can I get back to pits in a 12h race or will I have to retire? How long will it take to do the repairs and will this still be fun? Etc)

Question for SMS - Is there a rallycross circuit on the Mercedes-Benz ice track? In the article it says that all 6 layouts of the location will be in the game.

Due to the slippery nature of the track surface it would be great to be able to mix this in a custom rallycross championship.

I think you want to expand pc2 to Trophée Andros :D

My problem is, when im not able to make it back to the pits from a simple thing as in losing one wheel, i feel retiring is pretty harsh considering when if you simulate the race it just retires but if you skip the race, you somehow completed the full race length. Im hoping if there is the instant transport to the pits if the problem on the car is fixable and can be maintained to continue (unlike a blown engine) im betting on the new flag system to just give me a penalty or start from somewhere else after i get out the pits. Hope that made sense.

With the announcements for a Rallycross track at Silverstone are there any plans to open negotiations to see it represented in the game at some point in the future?

Losing a wheel is a bit more than "a simple thing". It's not like it's a case of a wheel not being mounted properly. You would have had to smack something pretty substantial for that type of damage. Very few real cars make it back to the pits under their own power in that type of situation. Big difference between broken suspension and wheel being torn off the car.

As for the "simple" issues, my hope is they implement something similar to iRacing's "Tow Truck" system, in which the car is teleported back to the pits, but suffers through a multi-minute (time varies by length of track) countdown before any work can commence. This countdown simulates the time it would take to have the car recovered and carried back to the pits.

I saw the layout of it today and while it has some interesting aspects like a late joker lap, a braking zone that starts in dirt and continues over tarmac and a high percentage of dirt, there are still some much better rallycross tracks IMO.

If SMS wants to add some more rallycross tracks to PCARS 2 (which I hope they do), in order of importance :

1) Montalegre - Portugal
2) Kouvola - Finland (*)
3) Höljes - Sweden
4) Estering - Germany
5) Mettet - Belgium
6) Biķernieki - Latvia
7) Killarney - South Africa (**)

(*) since Kouvola has been dropped from the FIA WRX calendar after the 2014 season (I'd like to know the reason since the track is awesome) I would expect the licensing costs to be really cheap.

(**) this track is new since 2017 so we haven't seen any races there yet but the layout looks promising and let's be honest, having a race track from South Africa in the game would be awesome. Besides it has a full blown tarmar circuit with multiple layout configurations as well.

Apart from Killarney I have watched races on all those tracks and they are all simply put amazing. Montalegre for the esses with high curbs and drag-race long straight, Kouvola for the high jump on dirt through a forest, Höljes for the simple awesomeness of the track, Estering for that spectacular turn 1 and high speed straight, Mettet for it's already legendary turn 1 into a jump and tight sections and Bikernieki is a new circuit from 2016 with an interesting layout and great location.

I'm personally much more a fan of purpose-built rallycross tracks like Montalegre, Kouvola etc. instead of the modified race tracks like Barcelona, Hockenheim or the WRX tracks from Italy, Turkey, Argentina and the likes (Mettet is the one exception). I think WRX is growing so fast as a sport that the organizers require venues where they can place a lot of spectators hence why the arena sections of Hockenheim and Barcelona have RX tracks. Mark my words, the arena section of the Mexico F1 circuit will follow at some point. :)

Not sure what to think about Silverstone tbh, I read over at the Dirt 4 forums that the owner was afraid of losing the F1 license and has plans to build a new arena around the Stowe circuit that can hold a lot of spectators. Can be interesting for sure but on the other hand I really regret seeing Lydden Hill drop from the calendar. It's a "simple" track for sure but it has its great moments as well, by far the most spectacular joker merge of any track I've seen. :)

Will classes that don't have tire warmers have the tires start cold in the race? Or is it still like pCars 1 where everything starts with warm tires in the race and after pit stops?
