I heard that it's made from the same stuff as the emperor's new clothes.

I hope you weren't standing in front of a mirror holding a candle while saying that. If so, you have twenty four hours...
I think I "like" that if I knew what it meant. :guilty:

:confused:

Mind the question mark in the smiley's beautiful Christmas hat.

@Jordan just out of curiosity how much time in an average day do you devote to running this site? I know you have a mod staff but it still seems like it would be very time demanding.

It's hard to say, because my life and work have kind of melded into one "thing", and my to-do list looks different depending on what's happening or what needs to take priority. I do take "days off" occasionally, where I purposefully avoid using the computer or thinking about GTP, to help stay sane.

Nevertheless, I still go through a 1-2 hour daily routine of infrastructure maintenance and security checks, scan over and sort emails, and read through the forums and news feeds to see if there's anything which needs to go on the News page. News page blog posts can really throw a wrench into things, and take anywhere from 30 minutes to three days of work, such as the product review I just posted.

Two questions:

* What moderators are supossed to do if a member threatens he will commit a crime, suicide or similar activity that may seriously jeopardize one's life and property or if there are indicators (by judging his posts or some sort of discreetly confessions towards other members) that he has already commited an activity that should be penalized by the law otherwise ? Do moderators have to forward a person's IP to official authorities or they obligation ceases as soon as the member gets banned ?

* How moderators feel when they ban a member that served several years to GTP, helping community get access to various GT game guides, discoveries and similar services ? Do they hesitate prior ban or feel remorse afterwards ?

Thanks. :)

Discussing illegal activities or harassing/threatening others is grounds for banishment, per the Acceptable Use Policy. We have no formal protocol for determining if or when to contact authorities, that would be decided on a case-by-case basis.

I hate to see anyone get banned. Everybody loses when an active, contributing member gets kicked off the site, but it's ultimately a choice that user made. (I often feel upset with popular members who get banned - not because of what they did, but because they chose to do it, usually in full knowledge of the fact that it was against the rules here.)

Many banned members contributed to GTP more than their individual infractions took away from it. However, if we [the staff] don't respect the rules here, we can't expect anyone else to, and not enforcing them rigorously or fairly would ultimately be much more harmful to the community in the long run, offsetting the benefits any individual user could contribute over time.

This isn't about the mods exactly but still relevant. I've noticed that the "report" button on my own profile page and wondered has anyone intentionally reported themselves? If so what did y'all do in response to that?

People have reported themselves but usually it's because they hit the report button instead of the reply button. I just delete the report and move on. Unless they've gone on a tirade. Then they might get slapped with a warning.

What is going to happen with suggestions in Suggestions sub-forum ? Are they going to be sent to Polyphony Digital at some point ?

I have a question concerning the report button.

If you want a double post deleted is it better to edit it to say delete or to report it and explain it was a double post?

I can't give you an official answer but I think giving the staff more work over an accidental double post is unnecessary. Just edit it to explain the mistake and carry on, that's what I do.

I normally do too, but curiosity and such

I always report my own double post and mods remove it.

That sounds something I would do, hitting the wrong button and have to report myself. :P

Does a GTP Mod hierarchy diagram exist? I'd be interested to see how the power is shared and how many levels there are. Something like this;

And continuing along this theme;
Which mod is most likely to turn informant?
Which mod is most likely to be undercover working for the establishment?
Who is the muscle guy?
Is Famine to popular for his own good and will he mount a power play any time soon?
If I ask Jordan to make me a mod on his daughter's wedding day, will I get the job?
Will the code of silence be broken if you answer these questions?

Some say his fingers were stained purple from crushing hundreds of thousands of snails along the shores of Crete, to extract the juices from which he brews his elixir of immortality.

There are those who believe, however, that he is the Flying Spaghetti Monster, incarnate, whose other-dimensional form casts purple shadows.

All we know is: His name is ******.
