R.I.P TO PSN - Long Live SEN (UPDATED)

There are some games that are coming up that are going to be Cross Platform
The one I know of so far is Dust 514 (which I plan on getting)

Different name Same old stuff or worse

Counterstrike GO will be a cross platform game.
More or less confirmed already for at least PS3 to PC.
On the side, I think our next update on GT5 (today) is mainly for the PSN/SEN changeover.
But we will see, a solo support for TH8 would be great.

SEN was supposed to be released today?
I logged on and it still says PSN and I didnt have to agree to the new Terms.
Either did it get delayed or is it going to be a late release?

There was a new patch, now when I log on, so it probably went live a little latter, then your post...

Edit: The store still looks the same... maybe it will change when they do the store update...

Hopefully they make this become that "Steam for movies" idea with their entire Sony media library. Movies and music... that'd be one bigass cloud.

Just got the update and I did a bit of reading.

This is what was said on the PS Blog from one of the employee's
It’s still called PSN, nothing has changed. SEN is the name of your *account* not the service that you’re using (PSN).

So PSN is still PSN just that you need to use your SEN to use PSN.

Pretty much, An update just to change the PSN account to SEN account. Everything is still the same.

Well one of my friends was telling me that there was a lady that was a manager for PSN that got fired... And he said that they were saying there is going to be a lot of improvements to PSN. I will ask him where he read this and post a link on here for you guys

One good thing to potentially come from this....

Removal / Replacement of the horrid PSN logo which was terrible on its own and even more terrible on the XMB.

Well the update notes stated that there were improvements to the web browser so that's one thing that's different.

not sure about those improvements... I tried to use the browser to access Yahoo and it couldn't load the page. Why can't Sony get a real web browser on the PS3? Understand not wanting a Microsoft Internet Explorer.. but how about Firefox or Chrome?

I have heard about the woman in question. The thing here is that she had little to no comunication with the community at large. Only Grace Chen and Rey Gutierrez speak for Sony here in the states when new releases come out. I don't know who does the European blog new releases, but I will say that someone is not singing Sony's praises.

Yeah i wouldn't want either one, especially anything from Google after Google's new policy.... I will never use Google again.

Have you tried to use their mobile sites? The PS3's browser is more geared to mobile browsing than it is to general web surfing. Besides, Sony will not make a serious effort to modernize their browser to updated flash and HTML 5.0 standards. As a matter of fact, I am kind of surprised that Sony just up and take out the web browser since Sony won't fix it to modern standards.

I've been having a lot issues with my PS3 since the update. Every time I exit the browser the XMB either takes forever to appear or doesn't at all.

its not the recent update that has it, Ive had it back since 3.6 and thats why I never use the browser on the ps3.

Well if the name didn't change totally, here is probably what they did.... Ok the whole network is called SEN, but for the PS3 it it still PSN...think of it like a website, you go to the main page if you don't have a direct link to what you're looking for then you go into the new category... SEN>PSN

Some of my accounts got a new user agreement but not all of them did... It was stating things about "SEN" on agreement 2/2... Don't know if any of you got this but i am pretty sure it isn't changing on the PS3 its self.

They should have called it "SOPA."
Sony Playstation Administration. :P

Or:

Sony Online Playstation Administration

Saves the two letter first word 👍

Sorry, just had to put that in. Havn't got a PSN so there isn't really much I can say about this, but I"m hoping to get one soon :)

I can't be certain but the way I read it was that we are accepting the new terms now for a gradual rollout of change from PSN to SEN. So at some point down the line the name on the XMB might change followed by the logo which will likely be the one currently used by Qirocity. Basically its not happening right away but maybe in stages.
