Yes me too. At least for Nordschleife people can practise now. I recommend to participate this dedicated design contest and keep fingers crossed for you.

I also hope, I don't have to race at Bathurst, I'm really bad on this track...
How do we enter that one?

Edit: Ah I see. Green Hell special?

I dunno.

I think same tags and requirements as usual, but I would add further further information in the description. Keep in mind the livery has to be related to Nordschleife, so I recommend to do a replica of a 24h N'Ring winner car of the VW family, or a fantasy livery featuring decals about Nordschleife.

I think someone already has it done. They’ve been told in game to fix the decals on the cars. It’s like the IMSA comic car but green.

I’ve put about 2200 miles on the e-tron on the various tracks on the list (first as practice, then for fun) but switching back to geared cars now as got to get back in the habit of changing gear and braking later!

I like bathurst but I hope you are lucky with the choice of track. Whatever track it is, have fun and enjoy racing actual dtm drivers, it will be very cool.

Looks like only two of us entered this.

Edit:

I’ve one more batch of entries for this week and then I think that’s me done.

Racer, even if your next batch are your last originals I’d still throw up some of your ‘greatest hits’ in the later weeks, it’s worth a punt and your name’s been in the hat every week, it’ll stand out by now.

(Not to mention the fact that your designs are cool too)

Thanks.

Maybe having a week to think about something might give me some ideas.

Hi everybody,

First of all thanks again for your congratulations. It was a really cool experience, unfortunately the whole event was quite quick. Since they announced their race on the Nordschleife very short term, I decided to bid for the auction car was very lucky to win it. Looks like that not too many people bid for it. This gave me the chance to stay connected via Zoom between the races with Mike Rockenfeller. He is really an amazing person, very authentic and focused to keep a close relationship to his fans.

About the races and the events itself, I'm not allowed to write before they were officially streamed. What I can already say is, that the design contest winner for the race on the Nordschleife was a professional sim racing designer, he also did not drive on his own, he let a friend drive, who was a professional sim driver.

I hope there will be a second season, because I would definitely try to win another spot then. For the rest of this season, I keep fingers crossed for you. In case you win, I strongly recommend to practise with the car on the remaining tracks. Although the etron VGT might be easy to drive, breaking is really tough, especially when you come out of the slip stream.

Also be aware that they changed the regulations. Tire wear is now deactivated and everyone has to use Supersoft. Compared to Medium, as it was before, the grip level much higher, so it feels more like an LMP1 or a Formula car.

Congrats again.
Looking forward to watching it.

Is there a track list?

Looking forward to seeing the race Delphinho, glad you enjoyed it, and got to do the Nordschleife race too and ‘hang out’ with Rockenfeller between races.

Unfortunately Bathurst was chosen, and to be honest I have never done a race at Bathurst in Gran Turismo. I raced it in "DTM Race Driver" many years ago and did not like the track, so I mainly avoided driving on this track in every other race game -.-. As you could see in the stream my fastest lap was still more than 5s slower than the laps from the DTM drivers.
In the first race, I did a jump start and then in middle of Lap 1, I did a small mistake and then Andreas couldn't react anymore and crashed heavily into me so that I ended up stuck in the wall. It's not shown in the video, but I can later post some screens of it. In Q4 I had a nice battle with Jamie Green, but I think he had a couple of issues with his wheel set up and he went off the track very often.

In sum is was a cool experience, but I unfortunately wasn't capable to properly race at Bathurst. Rockenfeller later said to me, that he thinks Bathurst is mainly about experience. If you don't know the track well, you are really lost on it, especially with such a fast car as the Audi e-tron VGT.
From driving perspective, the Nordschleife event was definitely much better for me, but let's wait for the Sunday stream.

Cool designs - I think my favourite is the read one.

Yesterday I got the permission to share my photos from the race at Bathurst:

After a jump start in Q1 I tried to follow Nico & Loïc through the mountains but after going off the track Andreas behind me did the same mistake and crashed into me. Unfortunately the crash made me flew into the wall, and I needed some time to get back into the right direction.

In Q4, I was then starting from the back of the grid. I tried to do some clean laps and find my pace, but Bathurst is a really tough track especially when you have never done a race on it. However, I had some nice battles with Loïc & Jamie, where both of them taught me a lesson :-). On Sunday 12:00pm CEST, we will

prompted me to toss a last hat into the ring with my splinter design.

I’ve also uploaded these three that I did for a laugh after finding out that all of last season’s DTM races are on YouTube and binge watching them all last week. They’ll either raise a smile or get me banned!!

Delphinho - just watching the stream of the Nurburgring race and you did really well, I was cheering you on to get the third qualification spot in the second race but not quite, unlucky. Plenty of screen time and mentions though, well done!

Great racing and fun stream too.

I was right. They reposted with fixed decals and have been told they’ve won.

And with that (pending further surprise shift changes) I bow out and wish those remaining the best of luck. I shall be keeping an eye on the competition and watching the remaining races.

(Honestly Racer, I’m not sure what else you have to do, keep putting those designs in, even if it’s your greatest hits from previous rounds because they are great designs and very ‘Audi’ too.)

Might take a break and then look at remixes.

Thrown everything I can think of at it.

I'm really sorry that none of yours were chosen. I think @Racerx_34's designs and the one from @Taxrik were clearly one of the bests and deserved to wen, but we probably need to consider that the drivers do not have so much time to spent on the selection. So if we look at the the winner designs so far I think you have best changes, when you do something eye catching. There are so many really good designs out there, so I guess it's not enough to have a great design from a designer's perspective in also needs to be really noticeable, especially compared to the other contributions.
The winner from this week created a design that you remember when you click through 30+ designs. It's not a design that you would see nowadays on a race car, but this makes it probably eye catching. The one that I won with was easy to remember for the drivers, because they saw their own faces on the car. The Martini livery was clearly bringing back some memories from the old ITC, so I guess the DTM drivers could easily keep this livery in mind too.

I’m not bitter, it’s just not worth me entering because I work Monday afternoon and evening, I just happen to have this Monday off so I had a last go. If I did win I’d probably be really nervous anyway!

(I do wonder if the fact my car is plastered with the names of my friend’s sideline companies counts against me, perhaps they think I’m trying to sneak some free advertising in, but they’re only added for fun on all my cars.)

I certainly don’t begrudge any of the previous winners but I’m glad at least one of us has had a race so far and I think Racer deserves one too so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Once again, good job around the Green Hell Delphinho, was a good show.

Taxrik - thanks for the nice feedback. I really enjoyed this race, was also much more competitive than at Bathurst. Especially lap 1 on the GP circuit in Q1 and the fight with Dries Vanthoor in Q4 created great memories in my mind. I think it's really a pity, that not more race series create such fun events where fans can race with the drivers.

Besides that, I think the whole event was really entertaining to watch. Looking forward to seeing the next event tomorrow.

I have uploaded some additional pictures on twitter:

About the design contest, I would really recommend to really try to submit the liveries again. As I said, it's impossible to remember all the liveries, so they won't mind if you submit a livery again. If you want to create new ones, I recommend once more to focus mainly on making it eye-catching. I suggest to use noticeable colors or unique decals. Third options would be replicas that triggers memories in the driver's head. I think I will also participate againoagain more time in one of the last two design contests. I have some idea for four more designs, but I don't know how t longseries will last. We need to keep in mind that there will be an official DTM test from 8th to 11th of June. Maybe they will cancel or postpone this event, or they open up the spot for more guest drivers as not all DTM drivers will be able to attend.

As a little aside I find, pleasingly, that the curved #racehome decal fits nicely into the rear sunstrip of the Audi TT Cup car.

(The red 11 is a new experiment, I usually design my liveries around the default number plates but this one is designed to fit under it for online races but not sure about the colour. I can only do very basic custom decals so still experimenting with colour. Might try a green/white one in due course though the red does provide contrast.)
