GTP_timeattack vs. BTH_Shark82
Winner: GTP_timeattack (2-1)
It was quite a scrap between both of us, with a lot of outside interference from punters unfortunately
It was amazing to witness all of the incredible saves Shark managed, just when I thought he was surely going off into the sand. Bravo youngster
Just like with the 6-axis Final, I had to make a major come back from a loss in race 1 in order to win, or advance in this case.
The first race we decided to invalidated as I had gotten punted off at 130R on lap 2 and Shark had also gotten pushed off into the sand at Casio on the last lap. After Shark got punted I was able to catch up to him and made a pass just prior to 130R to cross the line first. I decided to call the race off as it was not in one bit legitimate or fair to win under such BS circumstances. The winner is supposed to be decided by who is the faster driver, not by who has the best luck with punters
Race 1: This race was back and forth the entire way, as we seemed to have near identical paces. I tried to draft past Shark on the last lap approaching 130R, but unfortunately for me, I was unable to get close enough to make a clean pass, so I tucked back behind him as we approached 130R. Shark ran a bit wide through 130R giving me room to go up the inside as the clock read 1-2 second remaining. When the clock hit 0 and the race ended, I didn't see my position change from 9th to 8th, so Shark took that one by literally an inch
Race 2: Another super close battle the entire way. Shark got punted off again at the chicane on lap 3, so I waited and let him assume his position. On the last lap Shark had pulled out a bit of a lead after I made a bit of a mistake going into T1. Luckily I was able to close up the gap by the time we had gotten to the hairpin. This time I made damn sure that I got a good enough run on Shark coming out of Casio, in order to pass him down the back straight approaching 130R. I had a half car on Shark as we went two wide through 130R, with myself on the outside. I defended my position perfectly through the chicane, and was able to keep ahead until the line....just BARELY keeping me in the running of this Championship
Another close call for me
Race 3: Close racing as usual until Shark went off into the sand at T1 on lap 4. From behind, I thought he was once again going to save it somehow, but luckily for me he didn't and I was able to build up about a 3-4 second lead that I retained until the finish.
Great battle Shark
Sorry about the bad luck...the winner could have gone either way to be honest, as it was incredibly close between the two of us. Great effort my friend 👍
