Racers Reunited. It's over! RR GT6 is no more. Tuesday's will now be for GTS (Maybe PC2 some times)

Now I had to look that one up, I haven't actually watched ST Enterprise, but I now know who you mean. :)
He's also in the Stargate SG-1 episode "The Other Guys", which is relatively amusing.

Nicely done Famine!
It seems I like the Toyota Tacoma and Honda NSX :lol: Though as I said, I might not have driven it much in GT6, but the last time I did the Nine Boards Challenge, NSX Type R at Grand Valley East Reverse was my combo :D

Nevertheless, I think you were 0.3 quicker than my fastest lap, so it must just have been consistency (every racing lap was a 1'13.8-1'14.5, except for passing the Alpine) that got me up front. And @bloodyboyblue was seriously quick in that Alpine.

What are we up to next Tuesday, and does anyone fancy a Kerfuffle if there's no other ideas?

We'd need 5 or more participants for it to be effective?
I have successfully Fuffed with three, but the more people and more races there are, the better it is. Five does seem to be a sensible lower bound though.

So, if we're Kerfuffling on Tuesday, here's the car list:
Lotus Europa S.2 '68
Honda FIT RS '10
BMW 507 '57

Each needs Sport Hard tyres where not already fitted, and you can oil them up if you like, but it isn't absolutely critical that you do.

It's a lot of money to spend (2.2m, most of it on the Ferrari - but we all should probably have that from the Ladder of Doom) and a lot of cars to buy, so I've sorted the list from slowest car to quickest car and put them into three groups. The automatic handicapping system will assign you a car, however if you believe that you are quicker than average you will probably not end up in the quickest cars so should not prioritise them if money is short, and if you believe that you are slower than average you will probably not end up in the slowest cars. Most of the time we will all be driving cars between the Scirocco and Countryman. It is almost impossible to end up in the very slowest and very fastest cars.

The Focus is in italics as it requires special treatment. I am tempted to drop it off the list altogether or find an alternative.

Edit: I've removed the Focus and put in the Audi TT 3.2 quattro '07.

Edit: As it's a large list of cars, I tend to put them into my Favourites in GT6, to save hunting for them!

Not massively relevant to anything, but did anyone keep the race results - specifically the overall finishing times - for CHYLB? My recorder wasn't set up, so I don't have them :(

I've got those replays Famine. I'll get the figures in the morning.

Cheers, Zo.

All the Kerfuffle cars purchased. While wading through them I realised that all of the car list are premiums. 👍
The vast majority are not oiled since that involves a lot more button pressing. The tyres I'll sort out as required. Just for continuity I'll eventually try to paint them all in the same colour as well as adding a number.

Almost. :)

Enjoy your anniversary @Zolon32 ;)

Excellent, cheers. I may not end up doing anything with it, but I love numbers :D

They are indeed. It basically sprung up as a race event that exclusively used the new cars to Gran Turismo, because we'd spent five years driving the old ones already :lol: As many of the new ones fitted into groupings with old ones and it looked incongruous on replays, we came up with a few handicaps (similar to the Ladder of Doom), @Venari's EZ GT (self-handicapping to a defined pace) and Kerfuffle.

Indeed. Not-oiled cars don't matter so much here, as if you're slower than someone in the same car, you just get moved to a quicker car than they do.

One thing to note: You'll never be in the same car for two successive races, so if you end up in something you really hate, you won't be stuck in it. Though there's a chance you'll keep gravitating back to it (no-one's ever raced the same car more than three times in eight races though).

Enjoy your anniversary @Zolon32 ;)

Thanks Paul. The wife says I might get to kiss her! (Her what, I'm not quite sure.)

Here you go Famine. For some reason I only saved six of the seven races...

That's great cheers :D

So I've used that, CHYBB and Run, Alpine, Run, to come up with a relative performance differential (as all three featured theoretically equal machinery - all cars could reach the finish at the same time) and generate an initial vehicle offset. Or I've basically given drivers who are slower than average cars that are the same amount quicker than average, and drivers who are quicker than average cars that are the same amount slower than average.

I don't know who's going to be around on Tuesday (except yourself because of matrimonial obligation), but I've done one for everyone who was in any of those three series. The starter cars would then be:

@buybon355 - Tesla Model S Signature '12
@bloodyboyblue - Audi TT 3.2 quattro '07
@Conformation - Lotus Elise '11
@Famine - Renault Sport Clio RS '11
@IfAndOr - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71
@JockeP22 - Tesla Model S Signature '12
@Sutsagrd - Volkswagen Scirocco R '10
@Team_SWE_1 - Lotus Elise '11
@Venari - Volkswagen Golf R '10
(@Zolon - Chevrolet Nova SS '70)

Anyone new who turns up gets the average car - the Golf R.

I've attached a sample 7-man Kerfuffle sheet (everyone from CHYBB and Alpy combined, less Zolon) below, so everyone can see how it works. Feel free to play - just put the results in and the sheet calculates everything.

There's a random track generator at the bottom too. The one on my sheet came up with Twin Ring Motegi West, so that's where we'll be :D

Back in the game from this week onwards. Sounds like loads of fun. Reckon I've got most of the cars and I'm bouncing off the money limiter anyway. See you all Tuesday

After full and exhaustive testing of every vehicle I can say I'm looking forward to the fuffle races this evening. OK I've only tried out a couple of them but I'm still looking forward to see how it all works out.

All being well I'll hopefully see you all later.

All being well I'll hopefully see you all later.
I'll join in too. It's still set for 8:30pm as always? I have the day off and I'm playing with the Project CARS 2 photo mode at the moment. At some point I will have to switch over to the PS3 as I know I need to do two full Red Bull Championships to get the credits needed for the kerfuffle list (I have none of the cars as it is).

But that's easy peasy, one championship only takes twenty minutes for the five races.

Project CARS 2 by the way (just as pCARS 1) has a great and easy to use photo mode. I find myself spending way too much time getting that perfect photo that feels just right.
Here are some of them that I shot this weekend. I like the helicopter one if I may say so myself.

It's got to be said that in PC1 & 2 you don't need to do any of that "grinding" nonsense to make credits all the cars are accessible from the start. So you do get the freedom to play with everything at anytime.

The Senna and Andalusia races are quite good for payouts too @JockeP22

Amen.

Also, I think Zo may be in a different time zone than us. He's 48 hours behind us. Where does that put him? Certainly nowhere on this earth. Perhaps he's in a space station orbiting earth from a distance of the equivalent of 48 hours.

Sorry Famine I left in a hurry tonight.
Kerfuffle was great fun. We were having good battles in different areas throughout all the races. Great idea and a huge amount of work. Thanks for putting this together. Look forward to next week.
:cheers:

No bother! As I said, it works better with more, and it wasn't quite as close as we've had it before - I think the circuit is a bit too much full throttle and not much braking and it exposes some of the lack of pace of the quicker circuit cars - but this isn't bad from five races:

firstfuff.jpg

And four of us within 2pt of one another.

Plus I think I told someone the wrong car as well. But it went okay for a trial run! :lol:

just wish I'd bought more cars.
Buying the cars was a real pain last night, hence my lateness to the lobby.

I had to buy all but two cars off the list, I already had the Z8 and the GTB4. As always I was flat broke (Cr. 60,000) with ~ one hour to go. So I went and did two Red Bull championships and won all ten races. That took me forty minutes and I had about ten minutes left to buy all of the cars.
No problem, right? Wrong.

It took me almost as long to buy the 28 cars I needed. Forty minutes to grind for credits and just under forty minutes to buy 28 cars. And if I would have changed the oil and painted them as well that would probably have been another hour or so. The loading time after purchasing a car to when you return to the dealership is just painfully slow.

But I made it and the races were fun, especially the side-by-side racing with Paul and Mark.

And four of us within 2pt of one another.
Is it just me or are there actually no points in that results box.
Maybe I missed something.

Plus I think I told someone the wrong car as well.
Yes, I believe you incorrectly allocated the Z8 to Paul. ;)
He shot off like a proper cannon in that thing, taking an apparent easy win. No more Z8 for Paul.

@Zolon32 if you've got nowt else planned fuffling is certainly something you'd like I reckon.
I did promise Zo I would make a "How to" video showing what the upcoming Turnaround Races would be like and where to turn around etc. I think that was something he wanted to do one time before GT Sport comes out. There was some sort of error with the replays I captured though, and I will have to re-do them from scratch.

@Famine & @Venari I'm sure you'll find that a turnaround race is pretty.. interesting. We did one a long time ago on the Nordschleife.

Being allocated the Tesla twice last night sparked a memory for me, that time when @IfAndOr and I tested the Teslas at Brands.
: )

And it was funny, @Famine, that the first car allocated to me was the Nova for race 2. My mother had a Nova in the seventies, the '63 model. And I've always enjoyed it in GT6.

Here's one of her old photos.
I know that it was later converted into a drag racer in the 80s and 90s after she sold it. And it still exists according to the Swedish department of vehicles. I've checked. The owner lives less than an hour away from where I live.

No, I didn't put the actual race results and points up because the weird Tuning Prohibited bug (if that comes back, maybe I'll just turn that option off; it's good to know when you've forgotten that your car has been tweaked for a 500PP Seasonal Event, but plain annoying when it's like it was last night. Besides, nobody here cheats) and I think a Dino where there should have been a Clio sort of relegated it to a testing session.

If the next race had gone to form, we'd ALL have been covered by 4pt (using 9-6-4-3-2-1), but as it was it sat at:
@Sutsagrd - 26pt
@Famine - 22pt
@JockeP22 - 21pt (1 win, 1 2nd, 1 3rd)
@IfAndOr - 21pt (1 win, 1 2nd)
@buybon355 - 20pt
@Venari - 15pt

The important note here is that everyone's results affects your next car. The next race last night would have been:
buybon355 - Chevrolet Nova SS '70
Famine - Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63
IfAndOr - SRT Charger SRT8 '11
JockeP22 - Chevrolet Nova SS '70
sutsagrd - MINI Countryman Cooper S '11
Venari - BMW Z4 M Coupe

Had If and I switched places, as he misjudged his last-lap dawdle to the line, it would have looked like this:
buybon355 - Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Coupe Dynamic '13
Famine - Peugeot RCZ '10
IfAndOr - BMW Z4 M Coupe
JockeP22 - Chevrolet Nova SS '70
sutsagrd - MINI Countryman Cooper S '11
Venari - BMW Z4 M Coupe

Changing not just our cars, but buybon's too - because his overall position would go from 5th to 4th, so he doesn't need a car quite as fast to get towards the average overall points score and a 3.5th place race finish :D The effects are much bigger in earlier races, because the points swing is larger.

The whole mess of formulas I've stuck in there essentially try to put you in a car you're not good enough to win in, but not bad enough to be last in. And they try it for everyone at the same time - so they're always wrong, but they try :D

Forty minutes to grind for credits and just under forty minutes to buy 28 cars.
Extra points for Jocke. :dopey:
Actually after all his effort we'd better Kerfuffle again sometime .

No more Z8 for Paul.
I'm sure I've driven it before at some point. Can't remember where though. :)

Had If and I switched places, as he misjudged his last-lap dawdle to the line
Surprisingly I did actually think about this as I was coasting around and thought I'd better not cause a calculation cockup. Just to be sure, time differences have no effect?
I'll get my Challenger Charger ready just in case.

Surprisingly I did actually think about this as I was coasting around and thought I'd better not cause a calculation cockup.
Generally speaking, one race and one place doesn't make a whole load of difference - it usually catches up again by the third race after any middling-sized knob-up. Although if you're in a very fast car and place last, it can get very upset.
Just to be sure, time differences have no effect?
None.

I was going to factor this into the calcs when we planned this out years ago (I did have a GT5 Kerfuffle too, as I didn't like the logic behind the inbuilt Shuffle racing), and I can do it now I've had a few years to think about it, but the chances of things going a bit wonky are so much higher with the additional data required. Plus on Kerfuffle we usually flit from track to track, and the percentages might ebb and flow - I suppose there might be a good case for it if we stick on one track like yesterday, but just thinking about the complexity of testing and sheets required for that makes my blood pressure drop to 0...

What are we up to this week? Sadly (for me) it looks like I won't be around next week (10th) as I've got a day away (in Shrewsbury) and the timetable has me tied up through racing hours :(
