Racers Reunited. It's over! RR GT6 is no more. Tuesday's will now be for GTS (Maybe PC2 some times)

2'43.9 - 365 - edit: 2'43.6
2.45.9 - V12 Vantage - edit: 2'45.4
2'47.8 - BMW M4

I'm not driving the M4 any more. It's awful. I suggest the sublime Lamborghini Muira as a repacement. I can do consistent(ish) 2'43s in it, and I've cracked a 2'42.7.

More edit:
2'44.9 - BMW M3GTR - a delight to drive here.
2'46.6 - 8C - enjoyably overpowered, lairy at low speed and grippy at high speed in exactly all the ways the M4 isn't.
2'47.2 - Camaro - doing it a disservice here. It's quicker than this, it just will occasionally punish a full-throttle third exit after it has your confidence. Very good high speed grip.
2'49.1 - Maser GT - some low speed issues (due to gearbox ratios?) but quite fun. Drifter.

Has anyone tried out the Ferrari California? I remember it being popular in a previous series for being fairly quick and nimble. I'm not sure how it would stack up against the others though, possibly somewhere close.

Then you need to be in the M4 to handicap you. An entire actual second ahead of my Ferrari & Aston times...

Not a chance. Just done a clean 2'43.1 in the 365. :D

I don't have a California but '02 Dodge Viper GTS is a great drive. 2'44.0

Edit: Just went to buy a California. Can't. It's just too bug ugly. It was engineered as a Maserati anyway, tubby pretender that it is.

RUF RGT '00 worth a look. Glorious drifting.

Fortunately you don't have to Mark, because anyone on the bottom rung (and I can't believe you are!) has the choice of it or the 365. I'm guessing it's the 365 for you. Speaking of the Miura, I'm not certain, but doesn't it have epic lift-off-oversteer?

I've a feeling that we'll see about that on Tuesday... ;)

60 hours to go chaps and chapesses.

Cheers, Zo.

You can spin it if you try, sure. Just don't lift off. :D Actually on CS i find it quite benign. It's on a par with the other cars here.

Racing should be fun.

Truth is, I think it's a bit too close to launch of PC2 and GTS to go in search of a decent ladder now Mark. But once they are up and running, I think it'll be the best way forward for tight scrapping.

Just a little event to get us in the mood for GTS perhaps folks?

Just out of interest, what other days of the week is everyone free for some Kerfuffling? It's a good crowd here and I think you'd get some entertainment out of it.

Apart from Friday, Saturday and Sunday I could probably join. To be fair, I think we might struggle to get a grid of any size until the migration across the games has settled down, but we won't know until we try.

Cheers, Zo.

Fuffing struggles with 3, and 4 can be awkward if players are too close, but anywhere from 5-16 it's fine.

I'm back into a busy season at work now which involves working most nights. Sundays though maybe.
That's up until late October when I'll be offline for a month.

Well I can be free on most evenings/days but this can change at short notice. So basically I'd always up for a bit of competitive fuffling whenever I can get there.

Would you be using the complete list of cars? I might start a purchasing spree - I'm back at 50mil again.

Getting all those elves up to speed? :P

I'm only really free some Thursdays or quite late (after10) on other weekdays. More free on weekends.

As regards the Doom Ladder, I'm a lot faster 2-3s in the 365 than the M4 offline. But still 2s off Venari's pace!

If we can use another car, then I suggest another Lamborghini- the LP400 70s Countach. Incredible through Eu Rouge!! 2s faster in that than the 365!! We used this a while back Zo.
However I'm happy with the Ladder as it is.

Coming from one of the Administrators these are really encouraging words.
Very nice of you to say that, Famine. I'm still surprised that you found your way
to this little club in the maze of GT6 clubs that is out there.

More free on weekends.
Tuesdays have been my only day/evening set aside for racing for most of the year, but if there
will be some kerfuffling this weekend I could join in on that either Saturday night or Sunday night.

a list of 30 cars
That list costs 2.2m credits to buy
I can manage that, a quick twenty minutes winning the five Red Bull championship races plus receiving
the bonus will be enough credits. And they're all stock unless I'm very much mistaken?

Actually, I mentioned Friday Saturday and Sunday, just because they are days on which social engagements would have to take priority, by decree of the 'One Who Must be Obeyed'. But, other than when I actually have a social engagement (which is not too frequent) I'd be okay on any of those evenings.

Cheers, Zo.

I was also thinking of mentioning that Mallet was actually Santa in disguise but you got there ahead of me.

Nice races last night, had a great battle with Famine towards the end of the first race. My heart was beating so fast I thought I'd never get the rate down again.

gk tried to join the lobby so many times but unfortunately never got it to work. I dedicate this sad trumpet solo to him.

Really fun races last night guys. Thanks Zo for getting a really good system together. It allowed all of us to battle with different people throughout all the races.

Amazingly I got a win in the Ferrari in the 2nd race. Great fun racing with @tarnheld and Jocke harrying me throughout.

More amazingly was 6th place (not last) in the Aston vantage!! It was amazing on the straights but sorry to everyone behind me as I was braking early and hard for the corners which did send others off in odd directions esp poor @JockeP22.

Great turnout. Shame gkgamer couldn't get into the lobby.
What's Zo cooking up for next time??

Great to have such a good turnout last night chaps, and the racing it gave us was epic. Gamer would have loved it :(

I think Suts deserves a special mention, getting the Vantage up to second place at one point, having started at the back of the grid. Amazing!

What's Zo cooking up for next time??

I've just got to do a bit more testing today Suts, and all will be revealed...

Cheers, Zo.

Blame @Venari for that

Essentially I like races that are close, fair and fun. It's more or less how we've run the UKGTP LANs for years. We have some guys who are fast (including a GT Academy finalist...), some who are not, but through the various balancing shenanigans we've always managed to make it so that most of the time there's no-one very far ahead or behind - and no-one drives dirty or aggressively. I think everyone who's ever been to a UKGTP has won a race and most people have won a series - but it's always been more about the tussling than the victory.

With that in mind, I've never been fond of online racing. In public lobbies most people are asshats, so it's a case of finding a decent private lobby - and that goes on reputation. I've not been able to participate in any online racing for 18 months due to my job and the commute, but when I quit and came back to GTPlanet I was able to start again, and asked @Venari if he had any recommendations of decent groups - he's a long-standing UKGTPer and like pretty much the same stuff I do, and usually ends up on pretty much the same piece of tarmac as I do (although we do have rather different driving styles).

And that's how you've ended up stuck with me :D

more about the tussling than the victory.
Tussling, now there's a term I like. I must remember that one. :)
But you're right it's very much about how you get to the finish rather than getting there first. Well that's what I tell myself anyway.

and all will be revealed.
Ooh Zo's going to reveal all. I'd better put my glasses on.

Did I mention that the M4 was quite good on the straights. I'd certainly use it again if we do Route X at some point. :dopey:

Here we go then...

Next Tuesday we'll be doing C.H.Y.B.B. racing.

Standard car will be the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner '04, and the chase car will be the Suzuki GSX/R 4. Both stock, with oil change, C/S tyres. Usual room settings.

The Tacoma will get an eight second lead per lap, and the number of laps will depend on how many turn up. We need to fit in enough races for everyone to have a go in the Suzuki.

Points will be; 1 for last place, 2 for 2nd last, etc. With double points for the Suzuki run.

I'm hoping that this set-up will make for greater difficulty regarding making your way through the traffic in the Suzuki because, as in C.H.Y.L.B racing, the Toyotas can interfere with the chaser, (if they can get their mitts on it as it buzzes about like a scolded gnat).

Edit: The circuit will be Autumn Ring Reverse. One where care must be applied to the overtaking plan...

Cheers, Zo.

I was so unsure last time about how hard we could've raced the driver in the Fairlady Z in C.H.Y.L.B.,
that I completely stayed out of it's way instead when it came up behind.

My brain is wired to avoid contact but you're saying now that anything goes? Well, within reason of course.

Batter it.

The cars being chased can do whatever they like to the chaser - I saw the most incredible attempted divebomb from @Sutsagrd that came within a whisker of doom, and I recall almost pulling off a PIT manouevre on @Zolon32 (and I think I put @buybon355 into the wall on the inside of the tunnel turn... nearly worked) - but the key is that the chaser can't hit back. Or hit first.

The Elans weren't heavy enough to really affect the Z (although that divebomb would have been special if it connected), but the Tacoma will be :D In fact if the Tacomas work together and drive five-wide, the Suzuki won't be passing anyone

Big Batterer 👍

That would be an interesting tactic to adopt, but more difficult to apply than some would imagine, I think, especially in the loop. And who would break for the finish line first? Would the GSX/R nip through the gap and blast past to a glorious victory? We'll find out on Tuesday...

Further update to the Spa race on Saturday 7th Oct folks. Mitsubishi Vision and Camaro LM Race Car added to the choices.
