Awesome, that's good to know. I always wondered why the S197 mustangs didn't come with IRS, I wish they originally did.

They could have been better if they did, but luckily the new generation will have it. I really wish the 2013 model would have had it.

And that is true about the '79-04 Mustangs, they are all based on the Fox platform. The SN-95 and New Edge were just updates to the Fox body Mustang.

Yeah I prefer live axles, but that's mainly because I'm a straight line performance person. I'm a drag racer. I see new Camaros all the time there and they are slowwwwwwwww.

Yeah they are slow and heavy. I bet they are almost 1000lbs more than my '95 Cobra. When I bought that car in '98 it was considered a heavy pig and now its a lightweight!
I love the live axle as well I used to drag race alot before I had kids.

Yeah it's nice because its free to get in. $5 a pass if you want to race, track is open to anything with wheels. Other than that you pay for food if you want it.

Dear god that mustang

Damn that is cool ours just went up this year to $10 for spectators and $20 for drivers. (It used to be $8 and $12) Its $15 for Spectators on special events Jet cars, NHRA race etc)
It is a nice place and 1/4 track but it still hurts when you bring the whole family lol

Yeah that 351 Mustang would have been AMAZING.

I remember that car. One of the big magazines did a story about it, C&R or R&T, I don't recall. Same with the SWB Thunderbird. Both had write ups in magazines back in the day.:)

Check out NRE and Shelby's "code red".

Mine is a 1/8th track. The closest 1/4 mile track is about 45 minutes away. This one is a 10-15 minute drive. They do host Nitro night of fire another IHRA and NHRA events along with test and tune days but Wednesday is cruise night where everything goes and there's cars in display. Test and tune nights go by class and its a PITA to race. Cruise nights usually have a decent in line wait but they try to send them off quickly. They have 2 race lanes an 5 lineup lanes and I've seen it packed for 300 yards in each lane.

Damn thats cool a 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile track with in 45 minutes! Our next closest track is in Roswell which is 3hours + away. When the Albuquerque Dragway was closed for a few years we would have to drive down there to race.

Speaking of LRAs, the Toyota AE86 Corolla had a live rear axle, which of course contributes to its rear wheel control under all that wheelspin and drifting it's famous for.

I thought it had IRS. Interesting.

On top of that Watkins Glen is about an hour away as well.

Really!!!? I thought it had IRS as well.

Speaking of LRAs I know the Toyota Cressida has one as well.

HATE YOU! :P The nearest real road course is Arroyo Seco Raceway near El Paso which is 3 1/2 hours away. We have a small road course in town but is more of a paved oval that has some chicanes in the middle.

It's all part of living in Western New York, except we have to watch the Buffalo Bills lose every week

The tracks are Elegant Builders Raceway Park in Lancaster, New York, formerly Lancaster Speedway and Dunn Tire Raceway park. The 1/4 Mile is New York International Speedway in Leicester, New York. Watkins Glen is like 25 minutes from there, if that.

It's ulitmately cheaper to go to the 1/8th mile track because its easier on gas, closer, and you can pretty much figure out what you're 1/4 mile time is. I prefer to go to Leicester but it's just not in the budget. $5 a pass on the 1/8th or $20 for 5 races, where at the 1/4 it's $14 a race, $13 to watch, and they do test and tune on Fridays only (events other nights), unlike the 1/8th where its open almost all week.

Actually now that I think about it the 1/4 mile track might be closer to 45 minutes away. Its about a 35 mile drive.

You guys somehow made me love the 1999-2004 cobras even more.

Another random fact: The 1964 Ford Mustangs are often referred as the 1964 & 1/2 models.

Here's another, there are no 1964 Mustangs, as all of them are VIN'd as 1965 models. There are only a few ways to tell a 1964, one being the 260 V8 and interior changes.

The Jeep Wrangler YJ ('87-'95) used a GM steering column, which was used in the S-series pickups and SUVs, as well as the G-body cars. So essentially, it has the same steering column as a GNX! (In fact, my key says "For GM cars only", which I find amusing).

Edit: Also as far as the Wrangler, Jeep did not produce a 1996 model (since it was between the YJ and TJ production). Rather, they simply sold off the remaining 1995 models.

A 351M/400 is actually a tall deck, [model depending stroked] 351 Cleveland with a Windsor style crank/journals.

Yet, performs like utter poo stock.

The GM 3800 L67 V6's supercharger was custom designed by Eaton.

I've never seen a Mustang police car. There are a lot of Taurus SHO police cars around here though.
