Ford had a SOHC 427CI Big Block V8 for NASCAR and was available from Ford Parts Counters.
Fords SOHC 427 got banned from NASCAR because Chrysler whined after their 426 Hemi repeatedly got destroyed.
And Chrysler got 2 cars banned from NASCAR ('69 Daytona and '70 Superbird) after the Ford boys were whining about the aerodynamic advantage that the Mopars had.
Is this the Random Car Facts thread or Random Ford Facts thread?
Also known as PIS.
The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird were the first 2 cars in NASCAR that were able to reach 200mph.
Chrysler made the Dodge Viper originally to be their own modern interpretation of the Shelby Cobra.
Shelby himself was involved in the early stages of the design of the viper. Not many people know that.

Like what custom said,
Please don't call me that.

Yup ... the '69 Daytona, driven by Cotton Owens hit that illustrious mark. 👍

Then what are we supposed to call you then?
Just don't refer to me by name.
You can change a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR to rear wheel drive, by removing a fuse.

Pathetic attempt to stay on topic:
The 1973 "Eleanor" Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds still runs.
Thy used a lot of cars for that movie lol. I wouldn't doubt it still runs though. Take care of those motors and they last forever.
Ford should've used the movie for the "Built Ford Tough" advertisements.
That sounds mildly dangerous...
But really cool and strange too. I would love to have 4WD and RWD in an R32.
Nope not dangerous at all, I installed a switch with the fuse inline on the fuse box of my friends R32 GTR so he can have RWD or 4WD at the flick of a switch. RWD was nice in a 400bhp GTR
I saw a video of a guy removing the fuse. That's pretty badass.
Just don't refer to me by name.
So do we call you "That guy"? You really should clarify.
We should call him Nick.
