Momo MR2: 70/100

This car is overweight and underpowered for a racing special. Stable handling, though. Just enough power to beat the GT300 cars, but it's a fight. It looks good in red, but I'd rather take my chances with the TRD2000 or a '98 MR2 GT-S.

Next: Datsun 240Z

I have never played with the Dasun 240Z so hard to rate it but if is anything like some of the other older cars it would be hard to even make a 50/100

At some point somebody asked if we could rate cars not included in GT2, just cars you like or see on the road or whatever. Sounds like a decent idea since most of these cars have been recycled a few times already.

So...

My next car will probably end up being a 2002 Altima. Not really a performance car but a practical  sidekick to my Grand Cherokee and my family.

Ah someday when I'm rich and can have whatever I want...

Porche 911 Twin Turbo 😈

I think the mods would prefer that to be in the automotive section though, but sounds like a good idea. The only problem is I don't know much about Altima's unless they are the same as a Maxima.

I'd give the Skylines an 85/100 on long, fast courses, and 90/100 for technical courses with elevation changes.

The Supras (Denso, CDMA, Castrol's) are all exactly the same cars.....exactly.....I'd rate them the opposite of the Skylines. Give'em a 90-95/100 on fast courses, and 95-90 on technical courses.

The RX-7's handle damn near perfect.....the A-Spec and GT-C LM cars at least. Enter the corner straight (no goddamn drifting the car sideways like Starsky&Hutch) and power out. It all depends on how you set up the suspensions. If all you do is drop the ride height to the ground, all the cars will suck.

I'd give the Momo MR2 an 80/100, judging the car on what it is...not against the GT-One. It's a 380hp GT300 car, it's a bit overweight, but it's balenced very well and has a very useable powerband -- doesn't need to be revved to the moon to be competetive.

You're probably right.

Altimas:

Type: 3.5L V6
Displacement (cc/ci): 3500/214
Valves: 24
Horsepower: 240@5800
Torque: 246@4400
Fuel System: MPFI
Transmission: Manual OD
Steer Diameter (Curb): 38.7/38.7
Engine Locat./Drive: FR/FWD
Brakes (Fr/Rr): Disc/Disc
Steering: R&P
Suspension (Fr/Rr): Ind/Ind
Tires: 215/55R17

And I like the way they look, even more than the Maxima. My bro's got a maxima though and that thing halls-ass.

But I should check that; the Momo MR2 is so frustrating to use, even against the GT300 squad. It takes a lot of patience to get that mutha working right. So even against the Trueno GT, it's outclassed.

Come now, no other MR2 weighs 2800 lbs when fully modded; why should a racing special be an exception to the rule? (Me thinks an error at PD was afoot...see the Weds Celica weight as well.)

Ok just out of the blue here, I would die for a Speed 12. It's a dream driving it on GT2. Admit it took me like a month of on and off racing before I got the handeling down. And yeah I noticed the Weight on the WED'S CELICA. If it was AWD it wold be a little more understandable.

I think that a really good street car is a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V. I bit underpowered, but it has a six-speed! And it would only take a couple grand to put a blower on it!

I'm bringing this thread back to the top...

Nissan Silvia 2000cc K's '91

This car is is a great starter car. 200 horses is plenty for a start, and the car handles nicely. This way, you get use to FR cars fast enough, and you have a car that can compete in many different divisions. I've never liked starting out the game with a FF car, so here's a good choice because there's lots to choose from. As for the body style, you can either take it or leave it, but the notchback style has actually grown on me over the years. The car does a fine job with stock suspension and the normal tires aren't too bad. Although I'm not a drfit nut, the car responds well to hand-brake drifts in tight corners, and when fully-tuned, it can challenge the the GT300 squad with ease, or you can learn the circuits as a beginner in the Silvia/180SX Club. (I havent' put dirt tires on it yet, so I can't rate it's rallying ability.) A quite versatile car.

Score: 88/100

Next: TVR Chimaera 5.0

Chimera 5.0

Well I would put this sucker at about 70.

Its a great car stock, and with a little, repeat, little bit of tuning it can be a great car.

But with a fully rigged out and powered up chimera, the car seems to be nothing in comparison to the cerbera LM.

I think I am also hard on the judging, but thats ok...

Now for my pick...

sticking with the trend I have just brought up...

The Cerbera LM
what do you think?

Cerbera LM

Awesome. Faster than Shlt and glued to the track. A little jumpy at high speeds and a tendency to spin out... maybe too much power. Looks classic and sounds nice too. Definitely one of my few favorites.

Next car: Altezza LM

Altezza LM: bad mutha-fooka

Almost won a competition with it, but a powerful car looks and drives the part of ass-kicking machine. Worth racing the Rome Circuit for 2 hours.

I was having trouble with the Chimaera, curious what others had found.

bad ass car, i think the old school stlye is nice, and it has a crap load of horsepower in gt1 and gt2

Saleen SR Widebody

Saleen SR Wideobody: 65/100 love the looks and paint job, haven't tried this baby though.

Old thread, but what the heck:

M12, not a great fan. Ugly, average performance for its Hp, not a long term member of my garage: 68/100

'91 Silvia Q's

S13 Q's: 70/100
Ugly colors, but sorta cool looking. 1/2 of a Sileighty, if you like drifting. Average car, OK performance, but go with a S13 K's.

'99 Honda Prelude

'99 Prelude: 60/100
Not a big fan of heavy front-drivers. Looks good, but nose-heavy and nothing exciting. Easy-to-drive, yes, but that's nice for '93/'94 Preludes that you begin the game with.

On another note, I'm not sure why anyone would buy the NA-powered Silvia Q's when the K's are just a few credits more and can get lots more power.

So how about the Mibatsu, I mean...Plymouth 'cuda '70?

'Cuda man. 73/100. Goes ok and I find it has alright handling off the shop floor. Lacks some of the straight line speed that some of the other muscle cars have, but still a fun drive. Makes a good race with the Charger.

I mixed up the Silvia denominations (k's & Q's). I meant the turbo one that goes up to 388 hp :)

Spoon S2000?

Toyota Vitz (Yaris) '99 75/100

I think this is the first time the Vitz has been brought up in the GT2 forum! Well, it's a necessary car, you need it for the two Vitz races (they aren't 10 lap races, luckily!). Not bad, doesn't seem to suffer from awful turn-in, but you can't get much power out of any Kei car in this game, anyhow. This car has a few tricks to it:
1) It's one of four new cars you can buy to start the game, and probably the best of that elite group of four.
2) You can win it in one of the Compact Car Cup races.
3) Throw a Stage 1 turbo on it, and you'll have exactly 98hp; the maximum amount for those two minimum-power Kei Cup races.

I also rate it lowly because you can't get the shocking pink color awarded in GT3 (Rose Pink will have to do), and you can't max it out to 280+hp. Just 190, and that's it.

How's about the Toyota Trueno/Sprinter BZ-G (AE111) '98?

I have one of those in red. It could use a lot more power (256hp max) and less piercing engine noise when you put a Racing Muffler on it. The race mod is dull too, but it's nimble for a 4-door sedan. The 1998 models are much prettier but are exactly the same cars tuning-wise.

Rating: 74/100

Next Car: the Mitsubishi Minica Dangan '90

R390 roadcar '97

80/100 Very quick and can fit into a range of different hp classes. Handling is a bit ordinary and that detracts from the car as a whole. Better then the XJ15.

Shelby Cobra...

Shelby Cobra.

Great price (cheap as free!) a large amount of power stock, the body roll, oversteer and only having a 4 speed gearbox does limit it's use as a stock car.

Tuned it can hold it's own with the more modern FR cars, it may be a bit difficult to drive but it's a blast, especially if you like controlling oversteer.

95/100

👍

I must admit, I tuned the Mondeo to 338hp, put on a kit, and it moves! Good speed, a steady handler, pity about the average looks

85/100
