The previous poll specifically and explicitly polled the Lamborghini Miura P400 as opposed to the P400S or the P400SV. We've had countless Mustangs polled to which the same complaint could be levied, and as I said, I'm not doing this to be easy.

Is it still the same car just with some tinsel on the side and maybe a few extra cubes under the bonnet?

We do levy complaints against other wafer thin repolls and trim level polls. I certainly do, anyway. Just because other people 'get away with it' doesn't mean the rest of us should start joining in.

Rules, damn it.

Oh, I complain about people polling cars that are identical to the untrained eye too. ;)

If you really need it explained it to you, I'm nominating the P400S to make a point.

@Roger the Horse The point being you don't have to be fanatical about a certain model to exploit the fact that some past nominations didn't take multiple variants of that same model into account (a la Mustang)? Just edgy?

Picard_Facepalm_small.png

Does it really matter? All we're doing is rating how "cool" cars are here. Nominating two similar cars isn't going to kill anyone. The P400S is a valid nomination.

Will this satisfy people in regards to the rules about trim levels and stuff?
  • A nomination must have different specs, or be different enough visually from a previously polled/nominated car in order to be a valid nomination

So long as you don't apply the rule retroactively, that's a perfectly reasonable rule.

Honestly, I think the rule should be that one could easily explain the difference between the two nominations to someone with no interest in cars in less than twelve words, but it's not my cool wall.

LMFTFY

  • A nomination must be a different car, or at least a different generation of the same car

And this probably includes hot models and homologation specials too. For example, we've polled the Renault Safrane Biturbo and the Ford Fiesta XR2. Do we really need polls for the 'normal' Safrane and Mark I Fiesta?

Most people can tell the difference between a normal 80s Ford and an XR model, namely in that the XR model comes with tacky wheels and decals whereas the normal 80s Ford comes with... Normal 80s Ford wheels and a lack of decals.

Special Features
  • Retractable door-handle flaps
  • Single front wiper blade
  • Steering wheel with a single vertical and a single horizontal spoke
  • Pistol-grip shifter

  • Instrument cluster that tilted with the steering wheel
Furthermore, some models were equipped with additional features:
  • Digital instrument cluster that tilted with the steering wheel
  • Headlight Washers (seen on various luxury cars of the last decade)
  • Trip computer with range/fuel management facilities (common on current vehicles)
  • Pneumatic suspension with height control (common on some current vehicles, supercars and purpose built race cars)
  • Push-button four-wheel drive (later changed to all-wheel drive)
  • Hill holder brake system, prevented rolling on hills in the manual transmission version.

Was originally going to nominate the XT6 but I found out that one of the coolest features of the XT, the ultra rad gauges, wasn't a feature on it. So, changed it to the normal XT. There wasn't much of a visual difference anyway. The 30hp increase probably would have swayed votes for the 'power output that no one knows about defines car coolness' crowd perhaps but I doubt with a car like this the votes would of been any different anyway.

This car is the, except for the XT6, the hardest car I have ever had to get decent pictures of. The reason there is only two pictures of the rear is because those are the only two decent ones I could find. The XT6 was even worse, only one actual picture of the rear and it was of a shoddy example.

These also had an awesome video advertisement:
