Power Output: 147 hp (Turbo CT), 132-150 hp (16V), 191 hp (V6), 110 hp (Turbo D), 110 hp (HDi).
Torque: 130-135 lb-ft (16V), 173 lb-ft (Turbo CT), 197 lb-ft (V6), 173 lb-ft (Turbo D), 184 lb-ft (HDi).
Weight: 1365 kg (16V) to 1485 kg (V6)
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front-engined, front-wheel drive
Additional Information: At its introduction in 1995, the motoring press lauded the Activa for its confidence-inspiring handling and comfortable ride. Owing to the first-ever hydropneumatically-controlled anti-roll bars, the Xantia Activa was able to corner completely flat with neglible amounts of body roll. It will comfortably pull one lateral g and slalom at speeds comparable to much newer, more focused sports cars. In 1999, a fully laden Activa completed Teknikens Värld's famous elk test manoeuver at 85 km/h - by a wide margin the highest speed ever achieved in the test.

The R129 SL-Class was already indirectly nominated. That's as basically as cool as the R129 will get.

1990 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II
mercedes190eevolutioniieg7.jpg

Body Style: 4-door saloon
Engines: 2.5 liter M102 Inline-4 modified by Cosworth
Power Output: 232 horsepower
Torque: 181 ft-lb
Weight: 1,340 kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front engine, rear wheel drive
Additional Information: In March 1990, at the Geneva Auto Show, the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II was shown. With the success of the first Evolution model, this model's 502-unit production was already sold before it was unveiled. This car retailed in 1990 for USD $80,000. The "Evo II" included the AMG PowerPack fitted to the same short-stroke 2.5 engine as the Evolution, as well as a full SLS suspension allowing vehicle ride height to be adjusted from an interior switch. An obvious modification to the Evolution II is a radical body kit (designed by Prof. Richard Eppler from the University of Stuttgart) with a large adjustable rear wing, rear window spoiler, and Evolution II 17-inch wheels. The kit served an aerodynamic purpose — it was wind tunnel tested to reduce drag to 0.29, while at the same time increasing downforce. Period anecdotes tell of BMW research and development chief, Wolfgang Reitzle, saying "the laws of aerodynamics must be different between Munich and Stuttgart; if that rear wing works, we'll have to redesign our wind tunnel." The anecdote claims that BMW did. As mentioned 500 were made in "blauschwarz" blue/black metallic. But the last two, numbers 501 and 502 were made in astral silver.

@WeThePeople I can compromise by allowing the entire range with the exception of all AMG variants, since non-AMG models (primarily the '89-'94 models) are somewhat distinguishable from their performance counterparts.
Yes, allow every R129 but tge AMG models, please.

This is true for the non-performance, four-cylinder models. However, the most powerful model (Q4) was rated at around 186 hp and the V6 around 165 hp. The DTM-aping Zagato models were rated even higher than the Q4, but they are pretty much the definition of an automotive unicorn, so they're somewhat irrelevant anyway.
Front-engine, front-wheel drive / front-engine, four-wheel drive (2.5L V6 only)
AWD was Q4 only.

A 5-speed automatic transmission was also available, but only on the 2.0 Twin Spark models.

2000-2005 Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220
Opel_Speedster_2.2.JPG

Body Style: 2-Door Roadster
Engine: 2.2 L L4 Ecotec Z22SE (2198cm³), 2.0 L L4 turbo Z20LET (1998cm³)
Power Output: 145bhp @5800rpm, (Turbo): 197bhp @5500rpm
Torque: 149.7 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM, (Turbo): 184 lb-ft @ 1950 RPM
Weight: 870 kg (1,918 lb), (Turbo): 930 kg (2,050 lb)
Transmission: Getrag F23 5-speed manual, 5-speed Easytronic (ECO Speedster)
Drivetrain: Mid Engine, Rear Wheel Drive
Additional Information:
Based on the Lotus Elise platform, the Speedster was a light-weight, agile vehicle powered by 4-cylinder gasoline transversely mid-mounted engine that could drive the car to a top speed of 135 mph and go from 0 to 62 in under 6 seconds. Although its lack of horsepower placed it below supercars like Ferraris, Lambos or Porsches, lightweight construction proved to be an immense aid in tight cornering. 2003 saw the introduction of a new, more powerful turbocharged engine.
The turbo version was able to reach a top speed of 242 km/h (150 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds. The car was hailed by the motoring press as a great drivers' car and won several accolades, including Top Gear's Car of the Year in 2003. The 2.2 NA (naturally aspirated) version was considered the easier drive of the two standard variants, and some journalists recommended that the Opel/Vauxhall car was better value for money than the Lotus (such as Jeremy Clarkson in his 2003 DVD Shoot Out).

1995-1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG (W202)

1995-mercedes-c36-am_1280x0w.jpg

Body Style: 4-door Sedan
Engine: M104.941 3.6L straight-six
Power Output: 276hp @5750rpm
Torque: 284lb-ft @ 4000rpm
Weight: 1560kg
Transmission: 4-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic (1996-on)
Drivetrain: Front Engine, Rear Wheel Drive
Additional Information: The first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to be modified by AMG after signing a formal contract of co-operation with Daimler-Benz in 1993, and was produced in answer to BMW's new E36 M3.

Starting life as a Mercedes-Benz C280, the car was transported to AMG's Affalterbach factory where it gained "racing-tuned" suspension (stiffer shocks and springs, sitting 25mm lower than the standard car), a subtle bodykit, the signature-for-the-90s AMG 5-spoke wheels, a beefier 4-speed automatic transmission from the S-Class (as well as bigger S-Class brakes) and, most crucially, the M104 2.8L straight-six was hand-modified by AMG. Now having forged pistons, a new inlet camshaft, high flow inlet manifold, enlarged exhaust ports, freer-flowing exhaust system, and a bore and stroke increase to make it a 3.6L straight six, the M104 now produced 276 horsepower (AMG later stated that because it's hand modified it could make up to 287hp) and could run 0-60 in 5.8secs and on to a 1/4 mile of 14.5secs.

While the M3 was undoubtedly the superior car for driver involvement (and pace, in European models), the C36 was certainly an accomplished sports saloon in its own right. In 1996 it gained a 5-speed automatic transmission before being replaced in 1997 with the C43 AMG, the first C-Class to house a V8 engine.

1978 -1984 Toyota Starlet (P60)

1979_Toyota_Starlet_(6279060466).jpg

Body Styles: 3-door / 5-door hatchback, 3-door / 5-door wagon
Engines: 993cc inline-4 (2K), 1,166cc inline-4 (3K), 1,290cc inline-4 (4K)
Power Output: 47 - 54 BHP (2K), 54 - 76 BHP (3K), 58 - 74 BHP (4K)
Torque: 44 lb-ft @ 3,800rpm - 44 lb-ft @ 4,000rpm (2K), 61 lb-ft @ 3,800rpm - 70 lb-ft @ 4,200rpm (3K), 67 lb-ft @ 3,600rpm - 78 lb-ft @ 3,600rpm (4K)
Weight: 695 - 750 Kg / 1,532 - 1,653 Ibs
Transmissions: 4-speed manual, 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front engine, rear wheel drive
Additional Information: After the relatively popular Publica Starlet, Toyota decided to make the Starlet its own separate model entirely, and marketed it across the globe. The platform was known as the P60 series, with their chassis codes (KP60, KP62 and KP61) being related to their engines (2K, 3K and 4K, respectively). This was the first and last Starlet generation sold in the United States, where it saw limited success between the 1981 and 1984 model years; it was replaced by the Corolla FX. With its lightweight body, short wheelbase, reliable engines and rear wheel drive configuration, the Starlet quickly became popular with weekend racers and amateur rally drivers (particularly in Japan), and is still used in grass-roots level motorsport today.

For anyone who may have noticed the lack of a poll thread yesterday, it's because I was out of town for a funeral. Even if I had a working internet connection, this would have been that last thing on my mind.

Expect a single poll to go up tomorrow rather than a double.

1996-porsche-911-carrera-rs-3-8-72718_55bee5bcd72cbfca_858x617_0.jpg

Body Styles:
2 door coupe
Engines: 3746cc, air-cooled flat six
Power: 296 bhp (300 PS/221 kW) of power at 6500 rpm
Torque: 355 N·m (262 lb·ft/36.2 kgm) at 5400 rpm
Weight: 1270kg
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Drivetrain: Rear-engine, rear wheel drive
Additional Information:
The Carrera RS is a lightweight variant of the Carrera. On the outside it is easily distinguishable by a special non-retractable rear wing, small front flaps and 3-piece 18-inch aluminium wheels. The headlight washers were deleted for weight saving reasons. Inside the rear seats were removed, and special racing seats and spartan door cards were installed. Sound proofing was also reduced to a minimum.
It was street legal in European and many other countries around the world, but was not approved for export to the United States. As with the relative low production-quantity RS variants of earlier 911 types, some Porsche owners will turn to the standard Carrera and modify it into an RS clone as an enthusiast's attempt to own something that otherwise is unobtainable due to the rarity and consequent high market value of the RS. The practice, often using authentic Porsche-sourced RS parts, is perhaps more common amongst U.S. owners, since the RS/RS Clubsport was never certified for sale there. 0-60mph : 5s / Top Speed : 172 mph
