I would like to nominate the following car:

1997 NISMO 400R
tumblr_nzij4kw2FV1upi82oo1_1280.jpg

Body Style: 2 door coupé
Engine: 2.8 litre turbocharged straight six
Power Output: 395 bhp @ 6800 rpm
Torque: 346 ft.lb @ 4400 rpm
Weight: 1550 kg
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front engined, all-wheel drive
Launched in November 1997, the 400R was inspired by the Skyline GT-R LM which had raced at Le Mans in 1995 and 1996. An extensive re-working of the R33 GT-R, Nismo left no stone unturned in its quest to build the ultimate road-going Skyline.

Firstly, the car loses the RB26DETT engine found in most Skylines and replaces it with the Le Mans-proven RB-X GT2 unit engineered by Reinik, the motorsport department of Nissan's own powertrain division. Featuring a reinforced block that was bored and stroked to make 2771cc, the twin-turbo straight-six RB-X GT2 makes 395bhp at 6800rpm and 347lb ft at 4400rpm.

Nismo didn't stop there, fitting a 50 percent lighter carbon driveshaft, titanium front strut-brace, adjustable carbonfibre rear wing, a carbonfibre bonnet and forged three-piece wheels. The revised bodywork makes way for a 50mm increase in track but also helps bring better cooling. Finally, stiffer bushes, Bilstein dampers and a 30mm drop in ride height complete the package.

Just 44 examples of the Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo 400R were hand-built at Nismo's Omori factory in Japan, making it without doubt one of the rarest Skylines ever created.

The Renault Alpine GTA was the first car launched by Alpine under Renault's ownership and was preceded by the Alpine A310. With its aerodynamic shape, it boasted a best-in-class drag coefficient of 0.28 to 0.30, depending on variant. The GTA used the PRV V6 in both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged varieties, with lower outputs in later catalyzed cars. In 1990 the Le Mans version was released, sporting an aggressive bodykit and BBS wheels but with performance identical to the standard Turbo model.

The GTA was succeeded by the Alpine A610.

2016 Lamborghini Aventador SV
av-lp750-4_sv_ov1_1920x1080.jpg

Body style:
2 door Coupe/Roadster
Engine: V12 engine, 60°, MPI
Power output: 750 HP (552 kW) @ 8,400 RPM
Torque: 690 Nm (507 lbft) @ 5,500 RPM
Weight 1,525 kg (3,362 lb)
Transmission:7 speed ISR, shifting characteristic depending on drive select mode
Drivetrain: 4WD with Haldex generation IV
Additional Info:
The Lamborghini Aventador SV – for Superveloce – backs up the promise of its aggressive, fighter jet styling; it is a monster of a supercar. As evidenced by its Nurburgring lap time of 6min 59secs it has the raw performance to live with hybrid hypercars costing three times the SV’s £315,000. Supercar driving experiences do not come more authentic than this.

In dynamic terms the SV feels sharper and more agile than the standard Aventador, but that car was hardly lacking in dynamic ability itself. Equipped with the vast rear wing and contrasting styling elements the SV looks incredible on the road. Few cars have ever snapped the necks of onlookers quite so readily as this one.

The single-clutch gearbox has been improved slightly for this installation, but the thinly padded bucket seats offer no lower back support and their long distance comfort is non-existent. The standard Aventador’s grand tourer credentials have certainly been gnawed away, but the SV is just about as exciting and dramatic as supercars get.

Body Style:
5-door hatchback
Engine: 1.3 liter I4 + 100.8 volt battery

Transmission: Continuously variable transmission (CVT)
Drivetrain: Front-engine, front-wheel drive
Additional Information: After a two-year hiatus, the second-generation Insight concept was revealed at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, with production beginning in 2009, just in time for the third-generation Toyota Prius.

The Insight switched from a three-door to a five-door design, likely for the purpose to compete with the Prius. Due to increases in size, weight, and power, this Insight wasn't as efficient as its predecessor, as well as the competing Prius.

Features included in the Insight included Honda's new fifth-generation Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid powertrain and an all-new Honda ECO Assist System. The IMA mates the Insight's internal combustion engine and electric motor directly to the crankshaft. The ECO Assist System shows whether or not one's driving style is efficient for the car. The speedometer will glow a certain colour depending if the driver is driving efficiently (green), somewhat efficiently (teal), and inefficiently (blue). Additionally, an ECON button is included so the driver can sacrifice performance for efficiency.

The Insight's design was inspired by the Fit/Jazz. Its platform was later used on the CR-Z.

Production ceased in 2014, and was succeded by the Honda Grace, a hybrid based on the City, sold only in Japan.

Just had to go Google the shifter. That's...interesting.

Excuse me @Wiegert but, is there something wrong with my nomination? I already changed it to the Aventador SV.

I can't see if people are tagging me if they edit it into their existing posts. Please make a new post with the updated nomination instead next time.

I'll slip it between the Chiron and Insight based on the last post edit date.

1996-2002 Audi S8

S8.png

Body Style: 4-door sedan
Engine: 4.2-litre V8 (32-valve), 4.2-litre V8 (40-valve),
Power Output: 335 HP (32-valve), 355 HP (40-valve)
Torque: 302 lb-ft (32-valve), 317 lb-ft (40-valve)
Weight: 1720kg (manual) to 1750 kg (automatic)
Transmission: 6-speed manual, 5-speed automatic
Drivetrain: Front-engined, four-wheel drive

Additional Information: The first-generation Audi S8 was the first full-size luxury sedan from Germany's "Big Three" luxury brands to wear a performance moniker from the factory. The combination of high-strung V8, low weight (owing to its all-aluminium construction), Quattro four-wheel-drive system, and sports-tuned suspension promised a driver-focused experience. Although a majority of S8 buyers opted for the Tiptronic automatic, the unique option of a manual transmission through all model years further emphasized the enthusiast nature of the S8.

The S8 remained virtually unrivaled in its class until the introduction of the highly-priced Mercedes-Benz S 55 AMG in early 1999, although the Mercedes reflected a different philosophy altogether. With a large-displacement V8 and unchanged air suspension from a non-AMG model, the fortes of the S 55 were ride comfort and brutal straight-line speed as opposed to the jack-of-all-trades, meticulously balanced character of the Audi.

Body style:
4 door sedan/hatchback
Engine: I4 Skyactiv, 2.0 and 2.5

Torque: 150 and 185 ft-lbs
Weight: 1299 to 1373 kg

Additional Info: Completely changed for 2014 onwards, the third generation Axela/3 was given the SkyActiv chassis and became the third Mazda to sport the new "KODO" design language, as well as continuing the SkyActiv engine technology present at the end of the previous generation's run. This compact car has upheld its position as one of the best cars in its segment, and this generation is no different. The Mazda3 has excellent handling, with Car and Driver reporting .86 Gs on a set of Bridgestone Ecopia tires, and its in-line performance is reasonable, with a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds on the 2.0 manual, and a top speed of 130 miles per hour.
