Almost done with the Mosin refinish. Tomorrow put another coat of Min-wax on it for the stain, another coat of BLO, and maybe it'll be ready for poly..

Pictures tomorrow maybe.
Heck yea! Can't wait to see it. I got a mosin myself. I need to redo my stock

My brother brought his Wilson Combat 1911 over today, man that thing is nice. We're going shooting in the next few days so I'll get some pictures then but playing around with it today has certainly interested me in the gun.

Just picked up my Japanese type 99 Arisaka.
Woods in good shape and its complete with MUM,bypod, dust cover and aircraft sights.
Feels pretty lightweight compaired to my Mosin, i weighed it at 8lbs.
I'll put a pic or more up later if you guys are interested.
Otherwise this one in this video is pretty much like mine just not quite as pretty.

Forgot yesterday...

And then i realized how terrible my phone camera is. I guess ill need to grab my DSLR and use it.

Color turned out nice though after BLO, sedona red stain, and repeated that again. Already put two coats of poly semi-gloss on it and its headed where I'd like it to be.

Yes, pics! Is it one of those with the chrome lined barrels?
Yes i believe it is.

Just got back from the range. I shot 100 rounds through my Glock 35, 50 rounds through a buddies Sig MK25 and another 100 rounds (300 between the three of us) through my brother's Wilson Combat 1911. Damn that thing is nice to shoot, nice to look at too. I also shot a box of 9mm through a Glock 43, that is going to be my everyday carry gun for sure, it feels better in my hand than the other popular single sack 9mm guns do.

The range we went to loves Law Enforcement so they let us shoot for free which was definitely appreciated. We bought some ammo from them to show our thanks and the next time I go I'm shooting that P90.

That is a beautiful 1911. I miss mine now. I want a Wilson or a kimber. Is that p90 select fire or just an SBR

I have no idea about the P90, I just saw it on the wall and they offered to let me shoot it. Unfortunately I had to be home so I politely declined the offer but the next time I go I'll be sure to check it out in more detail.

Those are some really nice handguns. My 1911 is a really beat up Kimber, but I still love it(I'm gonna lube it now). I realize it's a 9mm, but does the metal lower frame on the Sigs help with the recoil? Every 9mm I've shot's had polymer frames, so just wondering.

Edit: God, I forgot what a pain in the rear end these things were to take down if you are rusty. Without youtube, I don't think I could properly lube/clean half my guns. :(

It might have been, had the execution been better.
That is a great video. I could've done without the Pearl Harbor comment, but lot of insights on the rifle. I'm almost into these things now after watching the videos you guys posted. Type 38 looks like a fun plinking rifle, if you could afford/find the ammo. :P

@a6m5 I personally felt the recoil on my friends MK25 was about the same as it is on my 35. I shot one right after the other and neither one stood out as having more or less recoil, both are very easy to control and shoot. I personally enjoyed shooting both Glock pistols a little more but that may be because that is just what I'm used to shooting, I grew up shooting my father's Glocks and my grandfather's revolvers.

Interesting. Thanks very much guys for your insights. 👍

I've never even tried doing it without the bushing tool.

It totally depends on how tight the barrel bushing is. The stock one in my Springfield and the one in my Colt are both loose enough I can take them down by hand. I have a match-grade, fitted one for my Springfield that requires a bushing wrench to take out. That one can be a real PITA.

My Taurus 1911 (1st handgun I ever owned) I had I never had a bushing tool. I kept forgetting to buy one lol. Those bushings were a pain on my thumbs.
