You guys are allowed to carry concealed guns?

Yes, you can carry a concealed firearm legally with a permit. The laws vary by state, but Florida is one of the most gun friendly states in the U.S.A. (for law abiding citizens anyway). My dad would have been robbed by a masked gunman a few weeks ago if he wasn't carrying a pistol. He got the drop on the gunman and the punk ran off before my dad could shoot his dumb ass.

Took a few pics of the handguns.

The amount detail in these guns is quite amazing. I really like the look of that shotgun. What gauge is that? 12 gauge? 20 gauge? I used to have a 20 gauge shotgun for hunting small game but couldnt imagine looking down a scope. Seems like the kick would hit you in the eye.

Oh man that fits this so perfect.

Skip to 23 seconds.

God damn it, I wish I could have stayed for another day or two to check out all the great stuff at the gun show, but that was sadly not an option. What a rush! :scared:
Anyway some pics of the most interesting stuff I saw. (I made a ton of photos)

Austrian made high wall falling block Elephant rifle chambered in .700 Nitro Express. Bullet weight: 1000 grains. Wow. :dopey:

A bunch of Austrian made (Ferlach) big game double and single shot rifles. Thats some sweet high quality there.

Another elephant rifle, a bolt action chambered in .500 Nitro Express. It used a beefed up Mauser 98 action (as far as I could tell. )

Korth (german) match super high quality revolver with an interesting finish:

Super Short Remington 870's with magazine conversion kit and a bunch of highly unnecessary attachments. Sadly I forgot who the manfucaturer was...

Gorgeous Uberti Winchester 1873's.

Uberti miniature single action revolvers in .22! Neat! :dopey:

Some very interesting exotic shotgun projectiles here, standard 12 gauge & .410 slugs with copper penetrators, three-ball sabot etc. etc.

LA(AR)-15 with a laminated pepper stock, looks actually pretty nice.

More LA(AR)-15 and a very grumpy looking booth owner... :scared:

IMG_4303k_zps7d8df969.jpg

Leupold tacticool scopes on some mockup AR's and 870's. I actually planned to buy the HAMR, but it was EXTREMELY picky on eye relief at anything over 2x and the reticle was super hard to see without illumination. Very disappointing.

Another neat Uberti miniature single action revolver with a looooong barrel in .22lr:

Nicely engraved Uberti High and Low wall falling blocks a 1873 Winchester and a Henry rifle.

I wanted to make some pics of DSR's and Desert Tactical Arms stuff but thats when the accu of my camera crapped out, oh well. :grumpy:

Haven't seen Savage, Pedersoli nor Mossberg which disappointed me a lot. No pics of Ruger, Glock, S&W and Remington because their booths were boring and underwhelming. They didn't have any new stuff on display.
Redfield was there too but they didn't have anything new on display either.

Wow, amazing shots! So many things I've never seen or even heard of before. There were couple of pics like the first rifle & 870 w/attachments(you do need all of those. :P) that just made me lol. Nice shot of you with the .50 cal, too. I'm sorry you didn't get to spend more time there, but well done!

P.S. Fascinated by the 3-bb 12-gauge.......

Just found out my Chinese AK-47 has a milled reciever on it =P Very uncommon in my area, most of the people I know have el cheapo AK's with stamped recievers. Apparently my Norinco SKS is as well, and had a fiberglass wood looking stock on it that's now a folding one.

Dem' rifles and revolvers!👍 Great pics Michael! 👍

That must been a great gun show right there to visit while it lasts seeing all those bad boys ranging from handguns up to high caliber sniper rifles. I really liked the carbine rifles and the snipers mostly, and did they have any H&K PSG1s or SVD Drangnovs around there? Those two are some of my favorite snipers rifles I want to own. And did they have any IMI Galil ARs, Galil SG1s, Desert Eagles, Jericho 41s, CZ75, M1911s? ;)

Yeah, that was different than our local gun shows for sure. Our gun shows are like swap meet versus this one's like a trade show.
What my father used in the Kosovo-Serbian war in '98. M48 assault rifle, similar to M14.

Sweet rifle. What a beaut! 👍

Are stamped AKs as bad as they say they are? I read before that even the military spec AKs went stamping?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are still no match for milling. 👍

I have a feeling your Dad must have been just trying to scare him off. I'm sure if he actually fired off the gun, he would have been inundated with way too much paperwork, and that must have made him hesitate. ;)

Good work in fending off the mugging, though. What firearm was he carrying?

Korth is the revolver I've always wanted but never could get. Not allowed in here in Liberalfornia.

Great pics, Michael! Love those 1873's and short shotties!

And this is how a lot of self, or home defense with firearms work. You go to the opinions forum, and once in awhile, you run into people who will make a claim that gun has one purpose & one purpose only: To kill.

In my view, firearms are a lot like military. In scenarios where you have to defend yourself, or your home, firearm aids with your posturing & deterrence, keeping things from escalating. Firing warning shot(s) is actually a really extreme situation, and to actually shoot at someone is the absolute last resort, and even then, I'd like to believe that most people shoot to stop the assailant from doing harm, not necessarily to kill him/her.

Don't get me wrong, when you are robbing, attacking, intimidating someone, then you disregard the command from the person with a gun(could be a home owner, cop, etc.), you are on your own. It's easy to raise your hands up & surrender.

Milling are better overall quality and performance wise which is why they usually are more expensive then the stamped models. However stamped models have been known to last longer than milled especially under heavy abuse. My uncle paid $350 (modern currency) for his stamped AK and he says it's crap versus the milled one my dad bough in the late '80s for around $850. Honestly though I think it depends on what you are using the gun for. If you want a quality AK, then get a milled one. If you just want something to plink and screw around with, then a stamped one is the better bet. If you hold the 2 next to each other you can really tell there is a difference between the quality in each. Personally, I won't buy another AK unless it's milled. I don't even think they manufacture milled AK's anymore, I think everything is stamped now and it's been that way for probably 15-20 years.

How does one go about with private purchases?

If I am looking to purchase a gun in a private transaction, what are the types of things I should look for? I would of course print 2 copies of a bill of sale to fill out in case the seller doesn't have one. How do I protect myself? Should I be asking for a copy of the original receipt or invoice? How do I make sure that the person I'm dealing with is not a meth addict hocking stolen guns?

If he answers the door with a Big Gulp in hand and smells like vinegar, run like hell.

Wait, why is the Korth Revolver not allowed in California? I'm aware of CA's strange and strict laws regarding assault rifles, high cap magazines and that kind of stuff but we're talking about a simple 6 shot revolver here...? Am I missing something? :dunce:

Great pics, Michael! Love those 1873's and short shotties!
Yeah, loved the 1873's and high-walls.

The only thing sorely missing at the gun show was DSA, there wasn't a single FN-FAL on display. :guilty:

Handguns must be on an 'approved' list before they're allowed for sale. Can't even bring them in the state. Korth is not on the 'approved' list.

They call this list "Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale." Just a bunch of stupid liberal anti-gun crap.

Sounds familiar, we have a similar list for semi-automatic rifles (but nor for pistols & revolvers), created by people who have close to zero knowledge about firearms.
So stupid... :ouch:

Your tax dollar at work! ....typical.

Anybody know much about older 10/22's? Guy I work with bought a used bolt-action .223 Savage today, and he mentioned that he might sell his old 10/22 stainless. I think it might be from the 70's? This guy got it from another guy I also know, I think last year.

My concern is the design & parts. I wonder if Ruger changed the design of the gun, or the parts much over the years? I don't want to buy anything weird, but if the price is right, and if it's identical to current 10/22 design, I would love to get it.
