my remington 870 tactical with AIM SPORTS full length tactical shotgun quad rail with side saddle... the main reason i went with the full rail was because i plan on adding magpul mbus sights and needed a place to mount the front sight, plus it looks badass !!!

Wow that looks so sick!! I dont think I have ever seen any shotgun setup that sick in any of the games I have played.
I had to post this again since it got lost from the Forzaplanet site when I asked you what gauge shotgun it was.

This fits so perfect.

I'm more of a ''keep it simple, stupid'' guy but I have to admit that I *totally* like hot-rodded shotguns like yours, Drift God. :dopey: Personally, if I wanted to build a tacticool shotgun I'd make it look like this:

Speaking of shotguns, I use slugs for home defense but I'm finding this Slug&Buck load from winchester extremely beautiful interesting. Anyone here tried them?
Its a one ounce slug with three 00 buckshot pellets on top at standard slug velocity.

Your tax dollar at work! ....typical.

Anybody know much about older 10/22's? Guy I work with bought a used bolt-action .223 Savage today, and he mentioned that he might sell his old 10/22 stainless. I think it might be from the 70's? This guy got it from another guy I also know, I think last year.

My concern is the design & parts. I wonder if Ruger changed the design of the gun, or the parts much over the years? I don't want to buy anything weird, but if the price is right, and if it's identical to current 10/22 design, I would love to get it.

I have several 10/22's. Fantastic guns, I would not pass it up if you have the opportunity to grab it. Nothing to my knowledge really changed much, I think the design was pretty consistant. Regardless of if it has or not, all Ruger 10/22s are great guns. They had different models, bolt, magazine, single shot etc. I think one of the several I have has a 5 round magazine and it's semi-automatic.

One of the ones I have looks similar to this.

DG: My shotgun's also the 870 Tactical. Mine came stock with XS front & rear sights(rear has picatinny), but I replaced the stock with the Blackhawk recoil stock.

Michael: I've seen shells like that at Walmart. I've stuck with Bird/Buck/Slug/Magnum Buck & Slug, but I may entertain the idea of getting one. It would be badass defensive rounds(maybe overkill lol).

Slash: The guy is still thinking about it, so chances are, I think he cooled on the idea of selling it. 10/22s sure are nice, and should nice deal for one come around, I'd be sure to look at it. 👍

That is pure awesomeness 👍. You've just given me inspiration to go mod an old 12ga. that I have lying around doing nothing except collecting dust.

Was lucky today, my local dealer had -can you believe it- several boxes of 220 grain Sierra Matchking 7.62 BTHP's.
Totally had to buy a box of 100.
Nice torpedoes, with a good load they should reach out to 1400yds easily.

Debating wether or not I should pick up 500 7.62x39's for $300. I think the tips were re-done though...

Bah. 2013 ammo prices. :grumpy:

Took a day off to visit the range today. Friday morning, with the ammo shortage, I thought I'd have the place to myself, but no, not exactly. :D It wasn't bad, actually. I took my Bushmaster .308 to sight in both the Magpul flip sight + the Redfield Revenge scope, and also to play with both my pistols: Kimber 1911 & Ruger SR22.

I was the only one at the rifle range for most of the time, so that was nice. Laser bore sighter worked GREAT. Got to use my cheap-ass spotting scope for the first time. I only used the 50 yard range, so the spotting scope worked very well.

Off to the handgun range after that, and it was getting little crowded. Shot my Kimber some, and it's dead on. SR22 on the other hand, it shoots to the left. Rear sight looks adjustable, so I'm gonna have to look into that one.

Just glad to see some customers at the range. I was starting to get little worried about their financial state with all the anti-gun stuff and ammo shortage going on.

x 51 millimeter or 39?

Sounds like fun! I too was also the only guy at the range today, the old geezers were freezing their butts off and ran home for hot coffee and warm blankets like little girls! Changing targets whenever the hell you want is so great. I had 6 targets at once downrange. :sly:

And I'm surprised the laser bore sighter worked, I tried such thing once and it was not pointing where the bullets went so it was useless².

51? pff... much longer! :dopey:

That sounds...expensive. And I'm a European so I'm used to pay premium prices for ammo.

I was thinking about doing that, but I settled for two.

From what I understand, it'll just get you on the paper(target). From there, you make adjustments, and it worked out well for me. I'm not used to rifles, let alone ARs, so it was really clumsy last time around. Today, it went as efficiently as one could expect it to go.

Ah, so my .308 is shorter. :P

Ok, thats the batch I cooked today. (Yeah, I'm probably watching too much Breaking Bad on TV, lol)
308 on the far left.

magnumrounds_zps5c658dee.jpg

It ain't no 50 but it has a punch, 220 at 2750 or 190 @ 2950 with a medium load, compared to 168 @ 2650 of the typical 308 load.
(Medium load because I don't want to push magnums a lot, we're already talking about 62.000 pounds per square inch of pressure here.)

Yeah, thats never worked for me for reason unknown. It was off by at least 10 centimeters at 50. Aiming through the bore is more accurate, I'll be sticking to that. :P

Honestly I think I'd go for it if the tips weren't redone with lead and left with the ballistic tips that the rest of my boxes are. These were re-manufactured by Remington though so I think they are ok. I don't think the price is too bad but IDK.

My AR-15 shoots .308's. Much better for hunting I find, which is what I use it for. Though for plinking I think I'd much rather have .223. Not that it much matters.

Thinking about getting my Remington .222 re-chambered to take .223's. Heard that's pretty popular now seeing as .222 rounds are tough to get, and with ammo supplies on back order 9-10 months in stores around here, makes it that much harder.

Also, anyone know were I can get .50 cal deer slugs for my pistol? Can't seem to find them anymore. That little gun kicks like a mule, split my dad's hand open and he's a strong dude.

thats a badass shotgun, but with ny's bs new gun laws adjustable stock and pistol grip are "illegal"...

plus i already have one "illegal" weapon ;)

870 is a great shotgun and fairly priced, i plan on adding a magpul hand guard & stock :)

thanks, build it up and post some pics 👍

last summer i bought 1000 round cases for $300...

picked up my MAGPUL MBUS sights today, now need to figure out where to mount my red dot to co witness my sights...

I think that's a little steep. $250 (max) is somewhat fair pricing. Well, as fair as fair can be considering todays market on ammo. Dig around, I think you can do better than $300.

a6m5 - hope 'ya had fun at the range. Sounded like a good time. 👍

I couldn't do that with AR if I wanted to. :P

At the pistol range, I first shot my .22LR then went to a .45ACP. When I'm shooting .45, it's so easy, I don't even think about the recoil. Today, I thought I was gonna lose the grip on the very first shot of the .45.

Smith and Wesson M&P9 Shield

It's the 9mm variant. This will function as my summer carry gun. I'm a pretty skinny guy, so in the summer, when I'm not wearing as many layers, this won't print like a full size or even many compacts. In the winter, when I'm almost always wearing a coat on top of multiple layers of clothing, I can carry something a little bigger. This is only a 8+1 single stack with the extended mag (the one that sits flush with the bottom of the grip is a 7 bullet magazine), but is small enough that I can pocket carry in my coat.

Never fired a M&P, but I'm sure it's a nice piece. 👍

I forgot to mention in the post yesterday, but my Ruger SR22 which I bought with conceal carry in mind, it fails to load the second round from the magazine into the chamber, like every other time. A critical issue for self-defense weapon.

I'm not really sure why it does it only on the second round(first one the gun loads on its own). Slide closes perfectly, but when I pull the trigger, it goes click. At first I thought it was a dead bullet, but when I rack the slide back, it's not spitting any bullet out.

What do you guys think of Kimber 45 1911's? My uncle has one with Marine pistol grips and the green sight thingy's lol. Says they are radioactive.

I thought it was a nice little gun to carry around. Didn't get much time behind it though.

Like I posted, I just shot mine yesterday & I wouldn't get rid of it too easily. I'm of the impression that they are not the best, but certainly above average.

?

Remove lower, remove bolt, look through the bore and adjust sights accordingly. Put it back together and you should be - at worst- 2-3 inches off center at 50.
Ah, take the lower off completely. I guess you still have to secure the rifle to something so it won't move? Sounds like a lot of work, but if I didn't have other means to sight it in, it's certainly good to know you can do that. 👍

The dots on the sights are tritium filled. Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen.

Yep! Thats fun with single shot rifles, you can simply remove the barrel that has the sights on it and adjust the them having just the barrel resting on sandbags.

Its also a great way to check if your sights are off when you're in the ''field'' (so to speak). Banged your rifle or sights against a tree? Find a rest (limbs, rocks etc) Just look through the barrel. You can re-adjust them so you can hit at least targets at 50yds so you're not completely out of the game.

You got to remember I live in New York...I see you're point though. Do you think they should be lower if the points were re-manufactured lead tips? They were originally ballastics from what I was told. I still have 700 rounds of full metal jackets and armor piercing rounds so it's not like I need them but we've been stocking up lately as everthing is tough to find with the SAFE act recently passed.

He seems to like it and it shot very well. Had a feather light trigger on it so it moved with little to no effort.

Thanks. I didn't know that's what they were made of. I thought he was BSing me lol

I think all major night sights are that way. I think they are usually good for 8, 10 years or something. Very cool.

Trigger has such short travel, I especially love that about the gun.

That is good to know. I guess it would be a blast to execute on a single shot rifle.

Heh, I just shot one of these yesterday. Sounds perfect for your application. Smith has been building some real winners lately. The grip on the M&P's seems to cater to far more hands than the Glock, the single stack Shield is probably the best shooting deep concealment gun out there, and there's Apex Tactical parts if you ever want to splurge a bit for a better gun.

Do report back with your experiences. I'm very interested in the M&P series

Congrats!
