Now the negative effects of the American ammo-and-components buying spree
have finally reached Europe; most components are out of stock with unclear delivery times. :ill:

Spent almost 500 bucks on the last reloading supplies available, fortunately I still got 200 .311 150 grain speer, 100 .323 195 speer SP and 168 grain SMK's. Now they're REALLY out of stock. :nervous:

If you need brass, I got about 25 gallons.

Only handgun ammo though.

Hey, I have sacks of brass standing around waiting to be reloaded, sacks weighing up to 22lbs. The problem is match grade bullets availability, for some reason there is no good bullet manufacturer in Europe. Speer, Hornady, Sierra, all of them are US companies. And now the supply line has dried up.....:grumpy:

That sucks. Are bullets and dies the only things in short supply? How about primers?

Its mainly bullets and brass, primers are still available everywhere, I guess with manufacturers producing several millions of those per day a shortage is nearly impossible.

That said I'm still going to by a couple boxes of rifle primers. 💡

What caliber is that? 9mm? Is it 'once fired' brass?

Looked like .45 in that bucket. Not sure if it's sorted yet or just a big bucket of brass. It'd be .45, .40, or 9mm though. Whatever they shoot at the police department. And, yeah, the ammo is bought, shot, and then the brass is collected and cleaned before being sold. If I'm not mistaken, the PD is not allowed to reload or use reloads.

Yeah, they're supposed to practice with what they carry. Can't carry with reloads because of possible shootings being scrutinized by lawyers who can claim, "You manufacture your own ammo because store bought ammo is not DEADLY enough for you!"

That's why you should never use reloads for personal defense. But, I have in the past, though. Especially with my .44 Special and .45 Autos. However, I use components that manufactured ammo used in the correct combination.

Brass look unsorted to me, too. Some looks like .45, then some looks like a 9mm, or in between.

Sorry to hear about component shortage in Europe. I know Michael shoots a lot(at least more than we do), so that really sucks. I haven't looked for ammo in awhile. How are the availability in everybody's neck of the woods? I plan to visit the range again very soon, I have to test out my SR22 again. Potential magazine issue, and I also adjusted the rear sight on it.
Zenith, guys, what do you think of this? http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=MID-750-C

$1100? I still would probably prefer an AK for lefty friendliness, but this is about the only BCM rifle available right now. Lol.
God, I don't even know who BCM is. I guess if it's average to reputable brand, it's a nice deal. Yeah, perhaps Z-Man or Solid might be familiar with them.

I picked up a box of Speer 9mm from Academy earlier this week. I also looked at a Walther P22 during that trip. I am thinking of picking up a .22 LR pistol. I went the day after to look at a S&W M&P22, but the only salesman there was already busy with someone and I did not want to wait around.

I am also looking a bit more seriously into buying a rifle. I could have purchased a Tavor online, but not sure I want to spend $2000.

BCM is a good company. I'd consider them to be high mid-range to low high-end. They give you a bunch of freebies if you buy something from them, like a hat, some videos and a load of stickers.

Right on. 👍

I love P22, but I opted for Ruger SR22 after hearing that P22's not very consistent with standard .22LR ammo. Of course, last time I shot my SR22, I've run into a issue with it not loading the second shell(just the second).

Had never heard of Tavor before. You are looking at military style rifles then?

I have read the P22 is fine with CCI Mini Mags. The P22 also has the additional benefit of having the same style of magazine release as my PPQ. However, the P22 is more of a compact pistol.

I am also interested in the S&W M&P22 and my interest in the S&W M&P22 stems from Walther being the company that designed the pistol.

Had never heard of Tavor before.

The Tavor is also known as the TAR-21.

Yes, not looking for a bolt action.

BCM is the only company that does complete rifles to Zenith spec.

Oh yeah, BCM is probably my favorite in terms of bang/buck. Their guns are made of quality parts and shoot really soft.

Since mid-length gas systems have no standard gas port size, the BCM is drilled a bit smaller than others. Some people report that they have troubles with short-stroking when running el-cheapo Wolf ammo, but if you feed your gun quality ammo you're golden.

Once you add a stock (B5 Bravo ~$60), hand guard (Magpul MOE ~35) and some rear sights ($50-100) you'll have a complete rifle.

This gun is more expensive but you do get some high end stuff like the rail, trigger, safety, and charging handle. I'd say it's well worth the extra $150, but I don't know how well they pay you for moderating.

Rainier is an extremely reputable vendor who have started to get into manufacturing. I've only heard good things about their stuff. Maybe it's time to have a new favorite.

http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3657

Honestly, you wouldn't be going wrong with either.

Edit: The Rainier also has ambidextrous safety and charging handle.

Also I didn't see this earlier because I was soaked up in watching Le Mans, my bad. :)

I bought SR22, not just for cheap plinking, but also for its' size. If I needed to conceal carry in the future, I thought it would be a nice option.

As much as I love P22(I love the looks of it. :P), I much prefer a gun that eats anything, but even then, look what I ran into. I plan on going shooting this Thursday, test the gun out to see if it was a fluke, or if maybe one of the magazines bad.

On M&P22, I think you may have told me about the Walther connection before, but I forgot. :ouch:

Are you gonna get it with red tiger stripes? I thought it looked familiar.

I don't have a bolt action yet, but down the line, I'd like to own one.

I've also been recommended BCM rifles by a couple of friends who own ARs.

In Auburn? Noted.

.22 for concealed carry?

--

Haven't posted in here for a while, but I guess I'll write to update that the M&P Shield is working very well as a concealed carry firearm. I've been carrying it when I can, and I've gotten it to sit really comfortably on me. Another important thing that I was looking for is a small size to minimize printing when wearing t-shirts in summer, and the M&P Shield is small enough that I'm not having any issues at all with that. 👍

I am not really worried about conceal ability of a .22 LR pistol. If I were to get my conceal carry, then I would either find a holster for the PPQ, buy a Walther PPS, or buy a Walther P99C. Adding a .22 LR pistol would allow me to do some cheaper shooting. However, 9mm prices are not too bad, other than the whole finding ammunition at Academy or Wal-Mart.

I do not remember posting that in here. I only recently learned that the M&P22 was designed by Walther.

I would probably go for black over flat dark earth.

I don't have a bolt action yet, but down the line, I'd like to own one.

Not sure what I would want in bolt action. Probably just a Mosin.

They aren't as effective, and people tend to underestimate .22's, but it can be deadly. I'd prefer a .45, but it's just a nice additional(and cheap) option to have available.

Here's the concealable gun I'd like to have: Glock 30S

Same as last time.

Always attach a suppressor to cover your muzzle blast.

Double taps are always encouraged. In the case of failure to stop, remember: One to the head.

*ahem*

So I went to the range yesterday.

I was thinking about taking one of the rifles with me, but I got lazy. I just took the Ruger SR22, which I've been dying to sight in & test the FTF issue.

Magazines after magazines, no hiccups. I was starting to really enjoy it, then towards the end, it did it again. I mark the mag with the sharpie, then later, the other one did it, too!

Damn me, I switched ammo to the extra bag of them I had, either Federal or Blazer, but I can't remember exactly when. I think it did it on Remington once, and either Federal or Blazer once.

Anywho, impression I got was that gun works perfectly if it's clean, and if I use Remington. I think.

Went out today and shot a boat load. I got a few videos too.

My uncle and a lot of my family went. My uncle brought his Marine Corp. Issue Kimber .45 1911, his HK USC 45 ACP, 9mm, (and a few other .45s etc) and his SWAT issued M4 Carbine, 26 round magazine, with a foregrip, red dot sight and supressor that shoots fully automatic....boy that was a treat lol.

There was .40 there as well, and a few other pistols. My dad brought his Ruger .17 HMR with a bipod and x9 scope that he uses to hunt woodchucks and his AK-47. His AK is exceptionally nice, looks brand new, and it was built in the '80s. We only brought 5 round magazines though, just so we were safe (my uncle plain just didn't care lol, his reasoning is he's a cop ). We thought about bringing the 30+ round banana mazagines though. The guy in the next range had a more modern AK, and one of them came over and shot the M4. The one my dad has, has a bayonet, with the schethe (that how you spell it?), its got a milled reciever on it, 3 way selector switch, has the cleaning kit in the stock and the best part is that the wood is made of Black Cherry :D

The .17 was shooting about 1/4" low at 20 yards, which is alright I guess. I was compensating about a 1/4"-1/2", which isn't that bad for not being sighted in for a while. Needs to be sighted in again, hasn't been for 2 years. The .45 ACP rifle was about 4 inches low and my uncle hadn't had a chance to sight that in either. We tore through targets. In about 2 hours between the 7 or so of us that went we had to at least blown through a few thousand rounds of .45 slugs and .223 rounds, plus the .17s etc.

All in all, a lot of military grade weapons were fired and man were they fun. I'll try and get the video my dad took of me shooting the M4 on full auto when I get a chance.

These are not ours just ones from the internet but this is what they look like. Not all of the guns we used are pictured. These are some of the closest matches I can find.

Man that wood furniture is red, I love it. :dopey:

Common problem, that happens when the scope gets a knock froma tree or something, it doesn't take much to make the scope move a tiny bit which will shift the POI. Thats why I put some glue between the mount and the scope when installing it.

Finally! Got my 240 grain 7.62 Sierra Matchkings from the US, they look gorgeous. According to my calculator if the bullet is launched at 2650 fp/s its good for almost a mile. :dopey: With a BC of .711 they're retaining their velocity a loooong way downrange.

Left to right: 150 grain flatbase, 168 grain SMK, 220 grain SMK, 240 grain SMK.
