Not sure why it has really started bugging me now, but I'm really interested as to what exactly the reasons are laps get invalidated. Sure, if you go off course, hit a barrier, or hit another car, that's all pretty clear, but what about you racing down the road, staying clear of the barriers, with no traffic close by, and all of a sudden, that little triangle lights up. Invalidated lap again. So, what exactly causes the lap to be invalidated, and how can one avoid it?

Are you in a race when that happens? It's most likely because of drafting. You drafting another car or another car drafting you will give you a dirty lap.

Ahh! I figured it may be me drafting at first, but then it happened when I wasn't even close to drafting any car, but if the lap is also invalidated if someone's drafting you, I guess that could explain it. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!

Edit: That said, how far do you need to be away to make sure drafting isn't going to cause any issues?
