Do you EVER say what you really mean? Half the time I question what you say and it's a joke or not to be taken literal. Man, joking around is fine but it's actually nice to write what you mean so people understand where you stand beyond the fact that you enjoy lesbian PDA.

So a mentally handicapped person or a quadrapolegic has no point in living?

It depends on the severity of the disability.

Dammit, didn't we have a thread on Terry Schiavo? I can't seem to find it.

A mentally handicapped or quadrapolegic person (and the rest of us) has to find a point in living. If you contribute nothing, then the only point in your living is to experience the sensation of living - which isn't much of a point.

My point was, do I have to go 100% in-depth for every belief I have? If that's what you do then you must be pretty shallow from what I've seen.

So, are you saying they don't have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Precisely. Which is why some have to set goals if they expect to experience anything worth-while.

Swift, I find your point ironic; arguing that life doesn't have to have a point when you go off saying that there must be a point to mankind's existence. Strange, isn't it?

No. But if you have trouble finding a point in your life you might just decide to off yourself.

Ever seen that movie where the guy finds out he has a month to live, and pays a hitman to take himself out?

Turns out he was going live after all. The movie gets a bit twisty after that.

That's not what I mean. My point is that this is the opinions forum. The place to say how you feel. If you can't feel confident enough in what you think to not be wishy washy about it, then don't bother posting.

Look at danoff and myself. Most times we stand on opposite sides of the fence. But it's rare that we hide or sugar coat what we mean. We also don't leave the backdoor of, "I meant it loosley..."

So, if you have an opinion great. But if you don't believe in what you believe in enough to stand by it, don't waste our time.

Some things I just feel don't need to be said. And trust me, I'm not wishy-washy—just look at the furball thread.

Ok, so you're more like, "I don't always say what I mean, so be careful quoting me"?

No, you just take things I say as the "be all and end all" of that particular phrase. It's like saying

"I like chocolate."
"WTF? You don't like vanilla or strawberry then? If you only like chocolate does that make vanilla bad?! OMG you never say what you mean holy crap jfc omfgx0r1!!11"

I can see that. but you just said that people that can't get their own food have no point in living. That's what you said.

So did you mean it or not? That's not like chosing an ice cream or hair style. It's making a statement of a situation. So, what is it?

I think the ability to provide its' own food pretty much constitutes as life. If you can't even provide your own food, what's the point of "living"?

There's "life", and then there's clinically alive. I was saying that if you can provide for yourself, at least you can go on. But if you can't, what is there to do?

If you haven't figured it out yet. I had a friend that was a quadrapoligic. He was injured on the job. He died last year. But he had a lot of purpose in his life. So I'm trying to figure out what you consider a purpose in life?

I'm not talking about a direct purpose, I'm talking about the will to go on and whether someone sees a point in their own existence. Numerous people with severe dissabilities often get depressed and sometimes take matters into their own hands.

Well, I've seen someone have an incredible attitude right to the end. That example you gave sounds just like the average teenager as well.

Oh, yah, I'm the typical "oh life is so hard why is everyone picking on me I don't know what to do omg what shud I wear I can't believe this is happening to me omg mom why don't you ever let me do anything you always have to ruin my life ARGH!!!11" teenager alright.

I never said it was you. I just said that a lot of teenagers go through a phase like that.

I, myself, is Roman Catholic.

Lately however, I've been questioning how powerful the church was "back then." I should be asking the local priest but I thought I'd share my thoughts with you first:

Before Luther, the Catholic church presided over the New Testament. They copied the literature into text so that millions more people can become "educated."

Before I go on, I just want to say no matter what, I still believe that Jesus died for our sins and that God is my creator.

Seeing how the Catholic Church can get away with certain things, I can't see why a powerful organization couldn't have made "subtle changes" here and there.

An example that's been made popular is whether Jesus was married but was covered up by the Vatican. Among other "subtle" changes, the power of the Catholic Church could be felt among all Christian denominations because the Catholic Church presided over the Bible before Luther came into the scene.

BTW, at last mass, my priest said there is a shortage of priests but an ever growing population of Roman Catholics. I bet there are alot of devout Catholics who'd like to be priests' but are restricted to become one because they are either married or female.

That's something I've never understood about the catholic church. Do you know why the preists and nuns aren't allowed to marry?

Yeah, they believe the church should be run like a family. As a priest, your basically married to the community and should devout all time to the faith.

Oh wow. So I guess that makes it rather hard for him to council marriages in trouble. Since God(his husband) has never done anything wrong and the priest has.

I can understand the general concept. But I think it's inherently self destructive simply because if a man can't take care of his own house, how can he take care of the house of God?

I'm not putting down your faith. I've just always been confused as to why Roman Catholics have the rules that they do.

What kind of church do you go to, Swift? (this isn't a put down it's a question)

Apostolic Pentecostal.

You can see our core beliefs Here

Feel free to post questions or what you think in general.

Your church has similar beliefs to mine (Iglesia Ni Christo) like it doesn't have crucifixes all over the place. Is your church like Roman Catholic with all these saints and stuff?

Not at all. We don't consider one person "holier" then another except for Jesus of course.

I started to question the Church, but I'm at peace right now because I'm attending adult confirmation classes. The Cathecist said that the church doesn't center the faith around the Bible, we only read it to acknowledge the "truths."
