"ignorance is bliss"
Well, from an objective standpoint, Republicans have a kind of rosier viewpoint of the world than the more "liberal" Democrats... if you don't feel like there's anything wrong with your personal world that needs changing, you do tend to be happier.
Truthfully, though, being white would only keep you from feeling like a victim only if you live in a white community. Live anywhere else in the world and you'll feel like an outsider. A liked outsider in some places, "white devil" in others.
But even in places where whites are generally liked... take here, for example, it's not always a good feeling, being "different", or of another class... when my cousin once complained about it (she's almost 100% white), my Mom quipped "Now you know what it feels like" (Mom's nearly 100% Japanese; 50% German-Irish + 50% Japanese = 100% Japanese... made it difficult living stateside right after the war)
As for religion vs. non-religion, I don't know how that would affect the issue, but yes, I suppose the more religious you are, the more contented you'd be with your life, as you're not questioning everything like atheists or agnostics are.
Whether the lack of dissatisfaction is a good or bad thing is another question altogether.
Hmmm... smarter? dumber? Depends... If you know you've got everything, don't you have the right to be happy?
