I couldnt sleep last night so i had decided to jump on gt5 and play with my dlc cars.

Well I was impressed with the tc cars and enjoyed driving them my thoughts then went to pd offering dlc and i had a bit of a look at the dlc thread here and thought wow have the request gone too far.

So my question is do you think we have gone overboard when it comes to requests? are we asking too much of pd?

Have since launch. Won't change anytime soon.

People are asking for way too much. Come on, understand that Porsche won't be coming to GT for a while. Think of reasonable DLC requests, not "add everything exotic".

Agreed it wont change too soon.

I suppose its natural to want to squeeze every last bit out of the developer perhaps it keeps them on their toes.

Some people really ask for too much, but is it really too much for asking this things:
- Accurate engine sounds
- more sophisticated physic engine
- more a spec events
- more post 2010 cars (i love standards too, but except some classics they can stay standard for me)
- more online options (championships, car restrictions - how can it be that i can restrict my server to lamborghinis but not road cars generally)
- Current gen tracks (I dont want to race on GT4 enviroment anymore)

It happens with every game nowadays. Put thousands of entitled gamers in an internet forum and 70% of the posts will either be DLC requests or complaints.

Way too far. What happened to the good old days of "what you see, is what you get"? Now it's like "what you see, and what more you want!".

There was a thread a little while ago about "Is DLC ruining games" (or something along those lines, can be found here). It's an interesting topic, that closely relates to why people ask for so much.

As long as there is DLC, people will always want more!

Yeah i saw that one wasnt sure if my question relates to that one im not asking if its ruining games more are we pushing for too much that cant be done.

...entitled gamers...
That's the nub of it - nicely put. It's the customer is always right mentality, despite few of them being in any way qualified to judge what is possible or even feasible.

Also refreshing to have a sensible thread - we have had a lot in this game already and more just keeps on coming, so I'm thankful for what we do get - but I'd never ask for any more.

Blutfield is also right - give any new gamer one of the old what-you-see-is-what-you-get games and they'd spend more time complaining about it than actually trying to play the thing.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to imply they're the same, I was just pointing out one reason why people ask for so much, DLC.

We're in an age of advanced/sophisticated technology, no one is going to be happy while know "they (the devs) can do it easily".

That's one thing with the Wii, I tend to go back to it every so often due to the fact, no updates/patches. You buy the game and play it, that's it. If you wanted something in the game, you kept quiet (in a sense) because you know there's nothing you could do about it.

That's where people get spoiled, DLC/patches! If someone feels they want something in a game, they start a thread hoping someone (devs) reads it, and implies it in a future update.

Very good point im a older gamer what you see is what you get era i do like dlc but my life isnt over if i dont get it.

Just by human nature, we always want more. If the graphics are good enough for our satisfaction, then the loading screens are too long. Or maybe 1000+ cars aren't enough because they didn't include everyone's favorite manufacturer or specific car model in the game. Or maybe the automatic and sequential transmissions are fine but why doesn't this model have a manual option? And why can't I have high-mileage oil in GT Auto, or maybe a synthetic blend, instead of just their single type of super oil? And why are the RS tires so sticky, they are unrealistic! PD simply cannot make everyone happy. It is impossible. I am guilty of this too since there are things I wish were in the game but are not. Yes they may be reasonable requests, and there are lots of people saying "this would be easy to put in the game, a real simple fix or addition" but we still aren't going to be happy. Unfortunately it's just part of our makeup as humans and it is our job to work toward a place where we want what we have, not have what we want (at least for those of us who wish for true happiness in this lifetime). /rant

The cars themselves? Not really, although one or two are a bit OTT.
The sheer number of requests? Oh my goodness, yes!

Although can you really blame us for asking for so much? I would happily swap ALL the Skylines in this game for 1 of my favorite cars.

The cost of paying a few designers to model cars is nothing compared to the profits DLC gets.

I would outsource the design to college students who are hungry and qualified. Then drop DLC like rain, and reap the rewards.

I think polyphony drops a DLC then goes on a vacation for 2 months spending all the money.

Not really that inexpensive - a recent article stated that game designers and programmers are getting $272,000 per annum in Japan.

It's odd how people are so much more demanding now, if we see a feature in a game then we expect every single game after it to have it.

I think you mean 272,000 yen :D. I think in the UK a decent games designer gets about £30,000 a year.

release a Gran Turismo game every 2 or 3 years = little to no requests

release a Gran Turismo game every 6 years = alot of requests

IMO it isnt gamers fault that are constantly asking for new things.
There are multiple reasons behind it.
First reason and above all is cause GT5 isnt what it should be and it is lacking many things from previous GT's.
Second reason, that is an extension to the first one, is the constant problems and the constant stupid decisions by PD...and to that add that no one from PD never speaks.
Third reason, is that the game is almost 21 months old and we got what? 3 tracks that 2 of them should be in game from day 1,.....and some cars that.....dont get me started about that...
Fourth reason, last but not least, is that now days that you can have even a toaster with internet...even if you dont have an Xbox or have never played a PC racing sim, you get informed about the goodies other games get as DLC or updates.... or already have that GT5 have not....and most likely will never get.
Now...to all the above add this thread
*EASY* things for PD to implement in GT5
and almost 7 years (5 years under development + almost 2 from release day)...
and you'll see that the demand for new things have gone so high cause PD's inconvenience/stupidity.

Thank you so much. 👍 Agreed with everything

I'm so tired of people thinking we should just sit back and celebrate the scraps PD throws our way. Ask for more and your unthankful 👎

Forza is doing alot of amazing things. Pumping out a new game every 2 years. Releasing loads of new and relevant cars through DLC constantly. Releasing a new free roam game.

What is PD doing?

GT freaking Academy.

I don't care!!!!!

Forza is getting the new Viper and the new Audi R18. What does GT have? The friggin Audi R10. But Forza already has the R15 AND the R18!!!

Forza is kicking GT's butt up and down the street right now. Kaz has got to stop the bleeding. He can start at TGS in September by announcing and showing GT6. But I doubt that will happen. What will happen is they will anounce Gran Turismo Vita for Fall 2013. Ask about GT6 and expect him to say "I'm not talking about that." Oh well, the Gran Turismo franchise will die slowly then. Like he cares. Hes already a made man

I don't think this thread is intended to be a "GT vs Forza" thread, we have tons of them. They are two separate games.

A restricted and limited-sized PD staff makes even small requests (such as a ten car pack), a nightmare, I imagine.

As Sony's best selling franchise, it should not be difficult to outsource and receive help from others. But I think that's unlikely for PD/Sony.

Read over sdf's post to see why requests have alot to do with Forza

But if someone is constantly comparing one to the other, they will never be happy. If Forza wasn't in the picture, would you agree that the content (cars etc.) is sufficient or would you still want more?

Some people are never satisfied... Like when the news about the GT ACADEMY cars on the news page... I was laughing at all of the people who think the makers of any game have to give you what you want when you want it... It is so funny how some can be so ignorant... Like i have said before i am satisfied with GT5 i am on my 8th PSN account doing the career mode... I love this game... I would love to see new dlc but i am fine if it doesn't come too... I have been playing this series since day one and no other game (on console) can compare to it... I know it will be at least a few years before GT6 will come out and i am still going to be playing GT5 till then...

No I don't think it's gone too far and you know why? Because the requests are not directly sent to PD. If people were bombarding Kaz directly on twitter with 5000 requests a day and other direct ways I'd say maybe it's too much.

But they're not, they're just posting on unofficial websites that PD don't have to read. They're doing no harm and if PD want to read and take notice of them it's their choice.

True 100% agree with you... But i think maybe what the point of this thread or a alternative meaning is that people's expectations are set way to high

The one thing I think is frustrating is that there are some that just want stuff added for the sake of adding it, or because of "but... but... but... Forza!". If you're going to add something to the game, I'd rather that it would be something that actually makes the game BETTER. Adding an AMC Pacer really doesn't make the game "better", though some would argue that it does. Adding more American cars, which is a big request over on Playstation.com, will make the game better depending on which cars they add. The Cadillac CTS? Maybe. Classics like the Ford Capri? Definitely. The Chevrolet Caprice Classic (I've actually seen a request for this one), I don't think so.

They can't very well implement every single idea, however many "gamers" are under the impression that the internet is a design by committee suggestion box. Yes, you did pay for the game. Yes, "feedback" is important. However, you have to allow creative people the freedom to do just that, CREATE. Nobody can do their job with someone constantly over their shoulder saying "do it my way. Do it MY way! I KNOW MORE THAN YOU! DO IT MY WAY!!".

I don't see the problem, people just list their personal wishes for DLC. It's not like we're demanding it.
