It's now on Steam, got the demo yesterday and will buy full game today, unless I see a really good game cheap! Anyone know any good tracks or car mods? I have R1 Circuit and Fuji and Durley on RACE 07 and GTR2 and am wondering if they are on rFactor

DK
I'm not sure about Durley (I only heard about it from your post!) or R1 Circuit, but Fuji should be widely available. http://trippteam.servegame.com:100 has been one of the best sources of mods for me.
I currently use http://www.drivingitalia.net/ and http://www.nogripracing.com/index.php for my mods, more DrivingItalia as it doesn't have a 100MB Download limit. I got a few mods, including LeMans, modern GT3 and a 2005 VLN mod that for some reason doesn't work. I had a Group C mod but the cockpits looked absolutely dreadful, looked like it came from a game in 1997 so I deleted it. Currently doing hot laps around some tracks, shoud have videos up soon!

What's the advantage of the steam version over normal disc version.

And jas just buy rfactor if you can afford it you won't be disappointed . Also sign up to classic f1 forum and you will get access to a massive data base of mods

No need for disc and automatic updates (Which I doubt there will be any more of). Only downside is Steam DRM, but that gets turned off if you have no internet connection (yay). And you can see reviews before you buy. I've played it about an hour and I am having so much fun!

Ahhh I see I will keep my disc version as they won't update it as there working on rfactor2, I have the no disc patch so that ain't a issue either .. no insentive to buy it agan if it hasn't no benifits dont see the point unless you never owned it

They updated the year when the game was updated to v1.255. Just like PD has done with GT5 and GT6 when they got updated in a new year.

Links guys?

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough. The one on the left is a standard rFactor install shortcut, on the right is the shortcut for the duplicated Steam install. That I can see anywhere, there is no option to add +fullproc to the Steam rFactor shortcut.

I've just duplicated the Steam version, made a shortcut to the game's exe in the folder, added +fullproc to it and then added the shortcut to Steam and it works, though I don't think +fullproc is going to make much difference to me since I already get ~200fps.

Is there a guide anywhere about how to make a Lite install from a full install? I've just deleted everything in /GameData/Vehicles and /Locations and the game still works, but what about /sounds? That's half the remaining bulk of the game on its own, but I don't know if there's any way we can tell if a mod uses sounds from other mods or content or not?

So errr.... Downloaded WEM. Is the Ligier LMP2 or Rebellion R-One available for RF1?

There's one that's been converted from GTR2. Its a disappoint to me though because at first it was nothing more then a slightly altered Lola and then it was a lazily alternated Lotus LMP1. There's a third one which looks vastly improved but multiple people are having problems with it.

As far as i remember neem you just leave the generic sounds folder in the rfactor directory.. havent hasd it installed for about 2 years so i may be wrong

Couple questions, first hows the a.i.? Second, does rfactor have a custom championship, and if so, can you have forced pit stop like in gtr evo? Thanks for reply!

The AI are a bit ignorant, like Assetto Corsa. They quite forget you're presence. And that i dont know.

So I'm trying to take some cars from another mod and put them in enduracers (don't like the physics in the other mod, cars just don't feel right to me). How would I go about making all the necessary changes so that it all shows up?

:D

Works great now, just had to insert a mas file titled "WEC2012". Now that looks more like a Ligier. I am no longer disappoint.

So, I am going to start modding the hell out of this game. Gonna start with modern racing series (Modern GT1, GT2, GT3, WTCC, WRC, Road Cars) and tracks and then go for older stuff (Group C, Group B Rally, Group A, Late 90's GT, etc.). Anyone got any good mods to suggest? Something that works with a decent cockpit

I would recommend enduracers for one. The Standalone mod itself is great. but the many add-ons that have been made for it ever since really add to it.

I'll give it a look. Do you know of any tracks good for hot lapping? I mostly use R1 Circuit for Race & GTR so something similar to that would be great. Currently thinking of using Silverstone GP or Fuji GT

Classic f1 and sandbox f1 mods ... didn't like anything else .. For rallying get Rbr as it's far supiror than rfactor For rally cars also hitorix mod all old school cars .. there was also a prewar f1 cars mod forget the name but that was awesome Get Brooklands track for that.

a good hot lap track is the goodwood revival track small but like tubsuka you reach a point were you can only drop time by 10ths

I'll try Goodwood for hot laps but may go looking for a Silverstone GP track as I've driven the fake version (Northampshire GP?) many times. I saw this video and will go for Historix, F1 2005 + 2006, Enduracers Endurance Series, Corvette, NSX and Supra MK IV, and DRM Revival. I tried a Group C revivial mod but the interiors looked absolutely awful. I got a mod with 150 race cars and some Nurburgring tracks but none of the cars worked so I'm gonna delete that mod today.
