i very much agree, and a good solution to this is clearly as you said,

goto a road course, where the risk to your car going off track is ever present, and I think you will experience the same thrill. Feel free to push your car past your skill level here, sure you will raise the level of danger to your car and yourself, but you wont endanger others.

a lot can be done by the government too though to set up places where people can go and race. it would be paid for entirely by them on a lap per lap basis so there wouldn't be any burden on the tax payer and it would make the streets a safer place. but it would take a brave politician to advocate such action as they would invariably come underfire from all sorts of activists.

first of all i dont race or drive as i dont have a car, while you see me as a punk that likes rice cars and japanese cars. also i just supported streetracer. he wants to do something he likes he can do it no matter dangerous or not. if he can handle it its fine. if you have something to say advanR say to my face.

I believe I just did. Quit using cliche lines to try and start a fight.

That first sentence makes no sense.

Of course streetracer can do whatever he likes. But if its endangering others, I believe he should not. There are laws in this country for a reason. Dangerous things are outlawed. I believe streetracer once made the pathetic claim "this is a free country". That has nothing to do with having the right to do illegal things. You can do them anywhere. What is "free" is speech, the right to assembly, blah blah.

EDIT: Put in quote

That is a very good idea. Because of the way the government is set up here, you should propose something like that to your state legislative man.

are you saying streetracer likes this ilegal sport but since it is iiegal and not safe you want him to stop and let teenagers who race suffer and no longer street race?

With your poor language skills it is very hard to understand what you are trying to ask, but yes I think so.

teenagers giving up a thrill is such a small cost for all of the deaths and injuries that would be prevented. Crying out about the deprived kids is pathetic compared to what those who have lost friends or family are experiencing.

Let the poor kids suffer.

No kidding.

"But I want to" does not make it right or acceptable. Tell them to take it to the strip on Friday night or Saturday. Run all day for 20 bucks and come home with the timeslips to prove just how fast you are.

Unless that's what they're afraid of?

OOOHH MY GAWWDDDD I CANT STREET RACE!!! OH DAMN HOW MISSERABLE I AM!!! LORD DEAR LORD!!!! Y-Y
I dont think anyone would cry out like that if he/she cant street race. try telling that to a mother that just lost her son.

yeah I am sarcastic and my comments are as sharp as they can be because this is not like, you know, grafitti or those kinda stuff that IS illegal... but painting on a wall wont risk any others lifes. and not because some stupid kids want to race its going to be good to do it. just give me ONE GOOD REASON... why you street race???

I think street racing is no big deal. Its that person's choice weather or not to do it.

Well of all the people who die each year (innocent bystandars), they didnt have any choice. Their lives were determined by the "racer's" decision. No offense, I dont think you really meant it like that...

street racing is already banned moron.

And its not your spelling, I can understand what a misspelled word means. It is how you put your thoughts into sentences. They are often runons and make no sense.

There is an organization that buys off a public street for a while and closes it off to public traffic. Then they clean off the street and set up some barriers in front of potential hazzards and let people race on the street. Also joining a local car club or the SCCA is a great choice.

Just so nobody misunderstands me, I respect everyones ideas, thoughts, and opinions. If I sound harsh, I didnt mean it to be unless you can see some sarcastic smiley or something :)...

BTW, when my grandfather did street racing there was hardly anyone around because the area wasnt as developed with buildings and houses. Plus alot of the time they where on back roads and somewhat knew what they were doing and knew alot about cars. I mean, this was when you only needed a wrench and some common sense to soup up and fix a car. That still doesnt justify it though it was a little safer for the public (since there was practically nobody around). Yes I inherited racing from my dad, who had inherited it from my grandfather. I dont streetrace and do not support it though I respect some of it...

heh...... in NY there are many street races. yet the cops dont do anything even though it is banned, they just dont care. heck sometimes they even watch. i guess it depends were you live.

by banned i meant enforcing the current rules-sorry for not being clear.

im out for the night, i continue later. see ya.

i dont do it either but i respect it.

Well NY is a big city without enough cops to enforce alot of the streets. Sometimes they dont report crimes, sometimes because they know there wont be enough support backup to help. Its really exspensive for operations like that and the Cleanup. Plus pooling more cops to catch the racers means that there will be less cops on their patrol...

Well I think I should step in and defend myself once again. I'll try to keep cool.

I told you why I race. Its in my genes and I do it because I enjoy doing it, its fun and gives me a rush. Its like drugs but drugs are worse I think. I know you won't think this justifies it and it doesn't, I can't justify why I still race so I shouldn't even try. I just enjoy it and well its my business whether I want to race or not. I'm sorry but none of you can change that.

I know racing is wrong. I know every time I punch it at a light its illegal but I truely can't help it. And thats all I got to say.

It can be changed. Even if its one person, others will follow. Streetracing is slowly being cracked down on harder by the police. Even though it is your business its other people's business as well, especially if they were the ones heading to the scene like my cousin. He was an officer and was on his way to some reported streetracing. The racer was the "lucky" one and was sent to the hospital with a little harder than minor injuries (some broken bones, bruises, etc.). Brandon was killed on impact...

well... that is a real shame... you shouldnt even try to defend yourself then, man... you are REALLY wrong...

By now I don't care if I'm wrong or not. In fact I know I'm in the wrong by doing it but I'll continue. I can't help it really. Like I said street racing is like drugs, but it doesn't affect your mind like drugs do. It still gives you a high though, a natural high.

Well ok I should restate it. Not a chemical enduced high that will kill your brain cells.

But I haven't crashed...well I was hit when I had the civic but that was normal driving not racing. Just let me be I'll wise up sooner or later.

Your life will be ruined and also will probably ruin the life of others. You crash into someone. Your cars is destroyed, their car is destroyed. Even if they arent hurt they will sue you, if you end up killing them you go to jail for invaulintary man slaughter. You can end up getting you liscence revoked for a temporary time or for your life. Those things dont look good on resume's when applying for jobs and colleges...

Just because you havent, doesnt meant you never will...

but I never go over 70 during a race and that might even be pushing it and on a road rated for 55 thats not that fast.
