Rice+steet racing=Hated at GTP?

thanks for that advanR, i live in the UK, and although we are closer to germany than whereever u are (im assuming somewhere in north america) e30's are hard to come by with right hand drive. im not too convinced about driving a left hand drive car, esp if i need to spend close to all my money on it!
heh.i was thinking of getting the e36, stylistically i prefer it to the e30, and actually think it was the most beautiful car they ever made, though the 8-series (e31?) and e38 are close contenders
heh.wont be getting it for a good few months yet even if i decide on it, but i've read some very good reviews on the e36 and was just wondering how it compares to other things like say an e55 merc or nissan 200 (albeit with some mods) or ummm anything else? heh

yea, e30s came in left hand drive only. some were converted though, but they will be hard to find.
I watched that video. It is the same incident for sure, but the video I saw before had some depressing music playing. It showed how much fun they were having by jumoing the hill. It showed them make it a few times, with the music still playing, kids cheering, and then on the last jump they went off the road and all died. It was bone chilling.

You people who say street racing is fine because it didn't kill you are morons. As if your stupid ass still plaguing this planet proves anything other than your stupid ass is still plaguing this planet.
I see idiots in their little toy rice cars, zipping in and out of traffic with no consideration for any other vehicle on the road... you know, the vehicles containing other people that can die. When you are going 80 mph on a crowded highway, a lot can happen before you will be able to react.
Another observation is how no matter how fast traffic is moving, rice has to go faster. I'm perfectly happy going 75 on the freeway. But the crappy little Civic has to go 80. NEWSFLASH: That proves nothing. Any piece of crap can go 80 miles an hour. When you can take a tight slolom or chicane at 120+ I might be impressed.
If you wanna street race I can only wish you kill yourself before you kill someone else. You obviously don't have much to live for, and don't care about anything. You are pathetic.
But I will say this... I have a baseball bat in my back seat waiting for any stupid bastard who ever comes close to endangering me, my family, or my car. And I'm not alone.

Don't worry, I'm not a street racer & I still don't even have my driver license(I'm 19).
Stuff like that is hard to accept for some people, some don't. All person a different view of life. So whatever they do I will accept what they do.

I try and understand other peoples stances on issues also. And on this one I understand that most people who do it, do it because they are stupid or dont care. Ignoring the fact its dangerous to other people becuase they dont want to put in the effort to find a safe place to do it. Im not talkiing about sr780 here, it sounds like he says he does it safely and doesnt go much over the speedlimit if at all.
So I understand the other side of this argument, I just dont agree with it. That is why my opinion is different. I also will not accept anothers view on this subject because it has to do with endangeriing others. It has been repeated a million times now. If you want to behave like a dumbass and make destructive decisions with your life, I totally accept that (I will try and find out why first, because even dumb people dont deserve to die), but if you get your jollies from endangering others I will tell you to **** off. There is no way to accept that as a relevent opinion.

That's all well and good if we were discussing modern art vs. classical or soccer vs. American football or chocolate vs. peanut butter. That's fine and I rarely bust on someone for their opinion on something like that.
But this isn't a matter of personal taste and opinion. This is a matter of endangering innocent people. That's where his 'right' to an opinion ends.

However, I refuse to 'respect' the 'opinion' of someone who thinks it's his right to go race an public thoroughfares, and endanger innocent bystanders (no matter how controlled he'd like to believe the situation is), just because he enjoys it and he "can't help himself".
I humbly submit that the post of yours that I quoted shows who the true jerk is.
If you were a heroin addict, I'd say "well, I think you're making a poor choice, but I respect your right to make it." You'd only be endangering your health. But this way you are endangering my health, without my consent.
Explain to me why I have to tolerate that in the interest of 'respect' for your opinion.

Well some people mature faster than others. My parents say that I have matured faster than most others and when I am at school I can see that. I work hard for my grades and keep quiet and listen while alot of others just goof off. I hated street racing ever since I can remember hearing about it. When my cousin was killed by a streetracer I hated it more. When Streetracer wrecks into something that might acually put the idea in his head that its not a good idea.

the one thing that makes me think a car is "bad rice" the most are sound systems. What the **** is the point of those things, the bass sounds completly retarded and you see the car shaking and ****, and not to mention the guy inside is going deaf. To the people who like that **** on this board: nobody wants to hear your ****ing music and nobody gives a **** you spent $1000+ on a friggen sound system.

Regarding streetracing:
I think streetracing is OK as long as it's a controlled environment. Whether the "control" is dozens of other streetracers blocking off roads with their cars to provide a "safe" course or an actual legal racing course is irrelevant.
Streetracing should not occur where there is a chance that someone other than the racers might be injured.
It's the racers' lives to spend as they will. Just as long as they don't spend others' lives as well, it's fine.
I don't intend on streetracing until I've got a hell of a lot more driving experience under my belt, and even then I'll probably stick to tracks and not actual streetracing.
Regarding rice:
Hey, if they think it looks cool, why rain on their parade?

Anyone who hates rice, that's fine; don't put it on your car. But respect the opinions of others.

I like to show respect to others, but some things are just too damn hilarious. If you think that snow plow front lip looks good I am going to make fun of you till theres no tomorrow. I guess for me to respect something I have to understand it. How can they think it looks good? I mean jeez.
If my 10 year old brother thinks cars with rice are cool because they look fast, I will not respect his opinion, I will tell him hes nuts. I guess I am thinking the same about ricers, they have limited knowledge about cars (maybe maturity also), so they tape screen that they bought at home depot on to it.
