Notes
Still a work in progress, a replica of Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione 2012 with 750PS and 1310kg. I tried to get as close as possible for the torque figure 516ft-lb, the GT6 version replica has close to 519 ft-lb.
The real car - 2010 version with lower power and more weight managed to lap Nordschleife in 6:58.16.
I used stock gearbox in this one for now, suspension and LSD are still being tested. The wing is not accurate, but at least it has a wing. There has been reports of shorter final gear ratio for the 599XX Evo, it was used on Fiorano Test Track lap record of 1:15s.
I have added optional transmission ratio with higher final to replicate real life 599XX top speed 198mph limited by gearing when tested at Fiorano and posted 1:15s lap using higher final.
I tuned and tested this early build at Spa, Brands Hatch GP and Silverstone GP on comfort soft, sports soft and racing hard tires.
ENJOY
UPDATE : Added optional custom transmission to replicate real life top speed with higher final, 198mph/318kmh - gear limited.
I decided to treat myself to a new Ferrari today and what better way to spoil myself than with a Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione? I couldn't think of one, so I was off to the dealership to buy and build my new track monster...
I decided that I will only be driving this car with RH tires. I know the tune calls for Sport Soft too, but to me, this is a track only car and if you own one, you're not going to be meeting the Ferrari rep's at the track and driving it on a set of Pirelli street tires that they've installed. No, they're going to hook you up with proper track tires...
It took me a few laps to get used to the handling of this very stiff car with the RH tires. Yes, I use RH tires from time to time on what GT6 considers a race car, but even though I have spec'ed this 599XX out to clearly racing specs with stiffened chassis, it still drives a bit "different" than I would expect. Almost too much grip at certain speeds and then not enough grip once you pass a certain threshold. These are criticisms of GT6, however, and not the tune.
It's startling how quick this car is. I found myself plowing into corners at Nurburgring GP/D because I was just carrying way too much speed into the turns. So, there I was, flooring it, stabbing the brakes, flooring it, stabbing the brakes. Finally, I realized I need to approach this differently. The car simply has too much power to keep one's foot to the floor at all times. A little finesse goes a long way!
Once I started giving this 599XX the respect it deserved, I was finding myself cutting through corners like a hot knife through butter. And when I wanted to make this thing scream through the gears, oh, how she will scream...9000 RPM's worth of screaming before clicking the upshift button. Sadly, the exhaust note in this game is terrible and I often thought it sounded like corn kernels bouncing around in a hot air popper, but again, there isn't much we can do about that. Thanks PD!
I had to do a little fiddling with the brake bias to find where I liked it. The Racing Brakes and Racing Hard Tires make for a fierce combination of stopping power and I ended up settling on 4/5, for now. I might even go to 3/5 once I get some more laps on this car.
Moving on to Brands Hatch GP, I know knew the basic in's & out's of this beast and I was able to put down some very low lap times. I was almost right there with some of my GT3 cars and I probably will be once I get the braking points down better. Again, this car is so powerful I found myself heading into spots like Paddock Hill Bend carrying too much speed, jamming the brakes and losing my velocity. After a couple of laps I was carrying much more speed through the turn, but I just wanted to point out that until you really get a feel for this car on a particular track, don't be afraid to take it a little easier than you normally would while warming up. Otherwise your car ends up looking all banged up and dirty in replays like mine did.
This is going to be a very fun car to drive and race. I wish I would have built it months sooner. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a street modified racing car.
