Romeo & Juliet
My all time favourite car now in GT5 is the Lotus Elise 111R, it’s such a great car, although it can struggle for straight line speed, I’ve not driven a car that can hold corners so well, so without further delay, here’s my review for these two great cars.
I’m testing on my favourite track, Côte d’Azur, with Romeo my best time so far on the session I’m playing with a DS3 is a 1:32.230 and Juliet is on a 1:33.426, Romeo tends to be my preferred ride, especially online as it absolutely dominates tighter tracks.
Romeo
Well Romeo’s my main ride as mentioned, so I’ve had a lot of running in this car. Easily my quickest road modified car around Côte d’Azur, and very little can keep up, heck I pull past a lot of racing cars, my limit is Le Man’s cars though, not quite quick enough for those unfortunately, though it is a little Elise.
Into turn 1, late braking is a must, with very early power, just trying to control the back stepping out if too much is applied, then into turn 2, going up the hill is where this car struggles, but it can nicely hit 130mph by the top of the hill into turn 3, brake late and hard, bringing speed down t 76mph, round the corner and exit at 74ish going round the corner 10mph quicker than most vehicles and doing so without a slide at all, into 80mph for turn 4 at the Casino and brake lightly where the Elise transfers just enough to the front to take it round with confidence, as you do nearly scrape the wall. Plain sailing into turn 5, not too late here on the brakes, it goes nicely round, and aim dead straight at the braking zone of turn 6, going round here with minimal acceleration, but getting round nice and quick, hit the apex of turn 7 without any braking whatsoever, something rare in other cars and then go very wide here on the small straight, so you can really plough into the apex of turn 8 with a lot of speed, this is one of the most key corners, mess up here and you can lose 15mph by the chicane, but the Elise gets round this with precision and ease, though hitting the apex a little too quick on 7 can sometimes see the back end step out, so care is needed here. Turn 9 is no problem, the Elise handles a very tight line, and very late braking into turn 10, and I mean late, this thing is beautiful in the chicane, clip the curbs of the chicane, and almost touch the barriers, through turn 11 should be almost straight pointing into turn 12, where very little braking is needed, go out right next to the curb, and swing round through turn 13 with no braking, moderately braking into turn 14 to hit the curb and modulate the throttle into 15 where no braking should be needed by the little Elise, into 16, where it just eats this corner up, straight down into 17 where a very wide entry means no braking at all, 18 then is almost cut due to this, and back to home straight, with a very stress free lap.

All in all, an awesome car and I’d say your quickest tune of all, on the tighter tracks anyway. My favourite car by far from your garage. In comparison to Juliet, Romeo is harder to drive as he isn’t as forgiving, but quicker when pushed hard.
Juliet
Well I used this girl on the seasonal event, and aced it first time, although I tend to prefer Romeo, I do like to take this for a spin from time-to-time, a little more low-key, but is very close to Romeo in speed, although you can feel the extra weight, and the lack of front down force, though very little tail to her.
Going into turn 1, brake slightly later, but not too late or as with Romeo, you end up playing wall kissing, you can’t take her in quite as deep or fast, but she feels a bit more planted, going up the hill into turn 2 you can’t really feel the weight, due to lessened down force, hitting a respectable 125mph by turn 3, though this is where weight and down force kill this poor car in comparison, I can only take the corner at around 65, though at this speed she’s nicely planted to the road into turn 4, where I can take it at a similar speed to Romeo at the Casino. Into turn 5, again the weight doesn’t help, but is by no means bad, taking the same line into 6, she goes round this nicely, a little quicker if anything than Romeo, although turn 7 holds this car back a little, but again, she goes round nicely, and if anything the risk of losing the tail is lower due to the weight, which is nice when set up quickly through turn 8. Going through the tunnel, the speed is identical almost to Romeo, maybe even a little quicker as the downhill section aids the car, and although the braking into turn 10 can’t be done as late, she holds the line beautifully through 10 and 11, into 12 where the weight is a slight issue, but by no means a hindrance, taking a very similar line through 13 to Romeo and just as quickly, it has to brake a little more into 14 but not so much so that she’s lagging too much, into 15 which has to be taken a little slower, but then into 16 she shines again, taking the hairpin beautifully, then nice and wide again for 17, and straight down the main straight from 18, to take a nice respectable 1:33.xxx.

A little more easy to drive than Romeo perhaps, due to less tail happy antics if you get it wrong, as she’s much more forgiving, and a great tune for this car, bringing out all of her potential without race modifying. A truly great tune.
I’d really love for you to one day do the ’96 Elise RM, especially after how you’ve brought out so much potential in the 111R; 100kg less weight and a little rocket
