So, here's the review I promised. First let's see some stats:
Stock:
Car: ......... Subaru LEGACY TOURING WAGON 3.0R '03
Power: ..... 257 HP/7000 RPM
Torque: .... 234 ft-lb/4000 RPM
Weight: .... 1480 KG
P/W Ratio: . 5.67 Kg/HP
PP: ........... 423
Tires: ........ Comfort Soft
This car started his life as a plain looking Subaru, not knowing what awaited it...
There's not much to say about this car when stock, but is is actually a better ride than most would expect.
Some understeer here and there, but nothing unmanageable.
The transmission is maybe what slows it down, but I think it is okay because of its more comfort-oriented nature.
Test results:
0-400m ................................... 0:15.092
0-1000m ................................. 0:27.253
0-100 Km/h ............................. 0:06.868
0-200 Km/h ..... (Trap speed was 195 Km/h)
Max. Speed ............................. 255 Km/h
Max. G-force ................................ 0.69G
Nordschleife lap:
Time ............ 9:09.997
Fuel used ........ 9 Liters
Tire wear . Unnoticeable
Now, after some of your magic, and a new look, this becomes more than just a plain looking Subaru... And its performance isn't plain, either.
Car: ......... RKM Motorsports Subaru Legacy 3.0STi Touring
Power: .............................................. 397 HP/7900 RPM
Torque: .......................................... 320 ft-lb/5400 RPM
Weight: ......................................................... 1233 KG
P/W Ratio: .................................................. 3.05 Kg/HP
PP: ...................................................................... 498
Tires: ........................................................ Sports Soft
*Note: I'm running with the transmission set at 330 Km/h. Before you yell me for being stubborn, there is a reason for this, which I'll get to later on the review.
Here's where things get fun:
0-400m ................................... 0:11.934
0-1000m ................................. 0:21.715
0-100 Km/h ............................. 0:03.769
0-200 Km/h ............................. 0:13.056
Max. Speed ............................. 299 Km/h
Max. G-force ................................ 1.16G
In general, the car is very responsive, very smooth. I can recommend this tune for beginners.
The acceleration is actually pretty decent and constant, due to the generous powerband.
It is very agile on the mid and mid-high speed corners.
There's still some understeer on the slowest corners, and high-speed sweepers, but mostly because of the long wheelbase...
... It can be the fun kind of understeer, though.
Nordschleife lap:
Time ................. 7:57.282
Fuel used ........... 12 Liters
Tire wear ... About 90% left
Online performance.
This car is
perfect for 500pp racing, although the hardest part was finding one room that ran on Sport Softs. The car's feel is pretty much the same than offline.
Needless to say, I smoked them
. Beat them all on the standing start, and on half a lap, they were away from my mirror sight.
An added bonus was the "OMG WTF HOW THAT BEA,NER BEAT MAH ELISE WITH A 🤬 WAGON??!!!" effect
.
Room for improvement?
Well, some:
To preserve the nice handling characteristics, a chassis restoration must be performed after each race, otherwise it becomes a bit of a pig. This might become expensive, if you don't do much seasonal grinding. Maybe a rollcage might come handy.
Remember when I said I ran an auto gearbox instead of the method RJ asked me to follow? Well, the reason is because it becomes a bit harder to handle with shorter gears. It might be the LSD, the thick powerband, the VCD, or the suspension settings (or just me and my DS3), but you might want to check on that.
Bonus: This tune also works on the 2.0 turbo wagon. But in none of the sedans (because of the big difference in weight distribution).
OVERALL: 9/10
