RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

So... I'm happy to announce a bit of a contest.

Out of the next week, the people to post the two best reviews will be getting a year of GT Premium. We don't care if you absolutely blast the car or praise it; just write it well and point out any faults you find... And point out under what conditions said faults occur.

To qualify the car must be tested with the exact parts list and settings equipped; comparison to stock settings is allowed and will be considered a high point however.

Are some of your tunes made for drifting?
None. Although you could use comfort tyres and powerslide a few of them. But proper drifting, I don't think they will.

I can't even drift properly myself. I'm learning though. :embarrassed:
Transmission

Set Final 1, then Max Speed, then Final 2 + individual ratios.
1st:-- 3.866
2nd:-- 2.730
3rd:-- 2.054
4th:-- 1.676
5th:-- 1.383
6th:-- 1.160
Final: 3.420/2.000
Max Speed: 168 MPH

I don't get how you 1.676 for the 4th gear on the z06. The highest mine would go is 1.585. I'm confused and kind of new to this.

NVM I got it! Thanks! You guys tune awesome cars (:
Yeah it's RJ's funny gearbox methods. Glad you got it in the end. :D

I did get a really nice powerslide with the Silvia '90 using the tune made by you guys :) Appreciate it!

Is there a limit to the amount of reviews you can make? I've been meaning to make reviews of quite a few of your guy's cars for a while no and it seems I've decided to come at a good time. :)
Also, do we need to post photo's? Just wondering.

Okay, lol, yeah pink also gets some attention.

so much R35 GTR bashing... I am a Nissan Enthusiast and i'm not mad. Why would I. I don't own one so I wouldn't know for myself if its a good car or not. All I know is that Motortrend, Car and Driver, etc is killing is the GTR's competitors with the new 2012 GTR. A car of it's size and power shouldn't be this good but it is. I know it's hard for you mazda fans to except but it is what it is.

It is a very good car but I don't think it means other cannot dislike it. You can like your GTR and others can like their RX7, no need to start "killing" each other.

Instead of just purposelessly "bashing" each other, how about we acknowledge each company's strength and weaknesses.

Apparently it's access to a naked chics forum, 'nuff said!

;)

We won't limit you to one review but obviously... Each review needs to be of a different car :P

I was actually surprised how okay it looked after painting it.

If you didn't notice, I call the R35 an "overweight Renault" in the first post.

Is it so difficult to believe I can dislike a car yet respect what it can do? I find it ugly, huge, and generally boring. Yep, it's fast as hell both in a straight line and around corners. Yep, it pretty much breaks the laws of physics.

But there are so many people that think it's the best car ever made by anyone ever that it's simply... Ugh. Keep your fat Renault, I'll stick to fun cars even if they're "slower".

Aye, this guy gets it. "My car is better" arguments have gone on since the second car was built and will never end; you can argue against something as much as you want, you'll never get the other person to go out and buy "your" car.

I'm a great Fan of RKM from HK, and i'm just wondering are you guys working on the transmission of all your tunes ??? And when am I going to see your next tune ??? I hated checking your garage everyday and seeing nothing new :)

Well, I've done a few (very few) of the gear settings; once I've got about half or more of my stuff done I'll start releasing the cars I've been working on.

Juliet

London-1.jpg
London_1-1.jpg

We all know the Elise looks cute and cuddly at first before it zaps you into the back of its seat thanks to its low weight and therefore rapid acceleration. This car, Juliet, abandons that completely and makes the Elise look like an angry angel. In general though, this car is aggressive all around. My kind of car, then! :D

For a non RM car (RM junkies go to Romeo), this thing has some killer potential. It can be a beginners car, it can be a good racer, it can be a drifter...this car is a multi-purpose vehicle. (Not in that way, of course! :ill: )

I went to test this car around London, which, despite being short, proves to be a challenge. In addition, it does happen to be in Britain...

The car's performance is in no doubt. It's got great speed. It's very speedy out of the corners, as the weaker engine has to pull less weight than the average car which normally gets that much HP - a constant in British lightweights.

Then, once you get to the corner, the brakes do their job. It's nothing special, but the braking does what it does, but you won't necessarily need to be using them as much as you would think...

Because this car has the most wonderful of all cornering. It's almost perfect (perfection comes with the Giulia TZ2 :D ). The cornering is so responsive that I'm surprised it doesn't give off X2010 G-forces! And it's only on SPORTS Softs!! :embarrassed: This car moves through corners like a knife through butter - it's just so smooth. This is where the beginners car element comes in, and, unlike a Giulia TZ2, you don't have to pay 10,000,000 Cr. for one of these or win an event which makes your life more difficult than it should be (Historic Racing Car Cup B-Spec. I haven't beaten it either :guilty: ).

The sound of the car is also very good. This car grumbles as if it were a bunch of REALLY angry bees. This is also part of where its aggressive element comes, and it makes you almost scared by it.

I haven't tested Romeo yet, so no comparisons coming here. But, overall, this car, despite the cutesy name, is not a cuddly kitty that you can hug all day. This thing will just shake you off for the most part. While this thing looks aggressive, sounds aggressive, and feels aggressive, the handling is as soft as a pillow. Essentially, a tamed dinosaur (that's a rubbish comparison, I know  ).

This car is very much recommended. It's for virtually anyone. Beginners, speed freaks, racers, testers...it's a very well balanced car. Looks, sounds and feels like a devil, but handles like an angel. My kind of car... ;)

Final score: 9/10

First off, you're making me want to paint Juliet red.

Secondly, thanks for the review! Juliet does have a lot of talents (:dopey:) and you've pretty much summed them all up. The whole point was to make the Elise handle like it should be handling, so the fact it's turned out better is a bonus. This is why I prefer sports soft tyres, when you make a car handle well, you can be proud of it, rather than knowing in the back of your mind that it's the tyres doing most of the work. 👍

I have a Guilia TZ2 but I've never driven it. Maybe I should and compare it to Juliet. 💡

Tamed dinosaur?

I've been looking on this thread for a 370z GT academy tuning set up but I can't seem to find it. Please help

We only have a normal 370Z right now, under the name Midnight Z. I will have a GT Academy version soon, after updating my currently released cars.

Incase you're wondering, yes the Midnight Z settings work on the GT Academy version, but you'll need to do some edits. More specifically, max the downforce, add +2 to both spring rates (the GT Academy wont go as soft as the normal Z) and see if you can get the gearbox to roughly the same ratios. This'll work pretty well until I release the actual GT Academy tune. 👍

Edit: Integra Type R updated.

Hey Roj, just wondering if you're tuning the F1. If you are, I'd rather wait until it's ready and give an epic review for it.

I've not started properly tuning it yet, just driving it with a few adjustable parts on sports soft tyres. I've not fully decided where I want to go with it yet. I could fully tune it on racing softs but I'm enjoying driving it with stock power on sports softs right now. It could become a real driver's car if I stuck to sports softs. 💡

How about tuning for the 'ring? That's practically where it was born to drive and where I race it, at least.

Tuner Comments:
This is the BLiTZ ER34, but not as you know it. Sorry drifters, this one is for grip racing. I know, it’s blasphemy. The BLiTZ ER34 out of the box is a very capable machine, but it’s naturally tuned for drifting. What we did is set it up for more grip and less drift. Once we did that, this ER34 took us by surprise. This thing is incredibly fast. Plenty of torque and a wide power band gives it an edge on track, leaving even GT-R’s in the dust. Be careful though, this ER34 can still kick out that back end in low gears, but don’t worry, it was once a drift car, so correcting that slide wont be a problem.

I built this BLiTZ and loved it...

So .. I applied this same tune to my [P] Mine's BNR34 Skyline GT-R N1 Base '06 and it worked great, the only difference is the spring rate cant go as low so I ran 8.4 /10.4.

would you do anything different with the Mine's?

Sports tyres, stock power and Nurburgring tune? I like. :sly:

A RWD setup worked great on a 4WD? Wow! I would've ran a setup similar to the R34 Black Edition on a Mine's because they're both R34 GT-R's. But wow, just wow. I'm happy with that. :D:tup:
Thanks u guys are the best! This thread has been extremely helpful. I appreciate all the work you guys put into this!

You're welcome! :D

I was thinking of a color to express how much of a beast the R35 is. But if you want pink, then I'll just go with it. At least I like pink as a unique color :)

Your car, up to you. :P Just that mine will always be pink and will never be driven unless someone else in the room is using an R35.

well I did only test on Tsukuba. So the results aren't 100% conclusive. Ill test it on the ring next, then try the R34 Black tune.

First of all great work right there! I have tried several tunes and they all worked perfect for me~ I have a question about the transmission setting for the R34 Black Edition though, after I have set the top speed to 320 km/h (199 mph), I found that I am not able to tune the remaining gear ratios according to the stated values (1st: lowest available = 3.920; 2nd: lowest available = 2.695 and so on...). Any fix on this? Thanks in advance!
