RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

When's the next update coming chaps? I need some new cars!! :D
Now!

CR-Z Type R with new gear ratios! :D

Okay, okay, I realise you mean't whole new cars but like RJ said, we're updating our cars to 1.06 right now, so until that's done, there wont be many major releases.
Hmmm, I haven't seen an R35 in your tunes. Mind if you tune one? I'll send it to you if needed.

Oh god.

I knew this day was coming. *sigh* I suppose I will since you did fulfill the requirements for a request car, and I suppose it'll be blazingly fast, but know I will find no joy in the job of making it decent. :P

Better you than me, RJ. :P

Edit: Honda S2000 gearing done.

Edit 2: And the Integra Type R Turbo.

Well, I probably will put your updated Integra Type R Turbo into a test against my very own tuned version! :)

You take any request again Roj?

Looking forward to the R35 tune. :sly:

Just out of curiosity, have you guys ever considered tuning a McLaren F1? I was really skeptical on this car until I turned into an F1 LM. Such a beastly car...

I'm currently driving your R34 GT-R. Will let you guys know about my experience with it.

Considered it but backed out due to the high price of the car. I have a Stealth McLaren F1 but the settings wont transfer onto a normal McLaren F1 as nicely as I'd like it to. If I ever end up in a situation where I need to drop a couple of million on a car, I'll consider the F1 again. :)

Looking forward to it. 👍

:ouch:

I got a spare F1 if you want. No permanent mods, only a wing and Race Softs. I know how awesome it would be under RKM's hands.

If you want to send it, I cant refuse. :D

Sweet, I'll get online and send it now then. 👍

This car already makes me feel like a kid in a toy store driving it around the 'ring... :dopey:

Edit: Actually, I'll send you a new, 0km F1 with all tires and and aero mods so you can choose what to do with it.

Can I have it in orange? :P

Juliet updated. I've also addressed the complaints that 6th was far too long for an Elise.

Yeah I had purchased it in orange because I wanted the paint chip, but I didn't get it.

It's orange though. Check your gift box... :)

Wow, are you lucky or what? The surprise 1.07 patch doesn't allow cars worth exactly 1 million to be traded. Good thing it was sent on time.

Clearly you have magical powers that anticipate when something like this will happen, so you can send cars on time. :dopey:

There's no need to be in a rush. I'm patient enough to wait for the settings. :)

I just want it over with... I've gone and purchased an '09 Spec V which was promptly painted Deep Pink and I'll be tuning it for 535PP/Sports Soft online runs... It'll only come out when others decide to use an R35 as well. If the specs you want are different, I bloody well expect a friend request followed by an R35 already built to said specs in my gift box! :P

C63 AMG updated and updated PP's.

Edit 2: Civic Type R and Insightful Honda updated.

Please explain me something, I understand that before individual gear ratios were customizable it was hard to drive with Automatic Transmission because you couldn't control when the driver shifted gears, but now, with the individual gear ratios set, how come do you say the tunes are less prone to work with AT?

After driving the R34 a lot on several tracks, including a home-made track, I think I can give a little review on it.

The car's braking is great, it feels stable even under emergency braking. However, there seems to be a specific amount of throttle or brake input that will simply cause a whole lot of understeer when the front wheels aren't pointed straight. So I found a relatively cheap cure: the grass. The induced oversteer helps the car turn very well. Downside... tire wear... It's manageable though.

The very first thing I noticed when driving it was the gearing. Especially useful on slower tracks/tracks with slow corners are the first 3 gears. Perfect for accelerating out right when the engine hits peak torque. Then the gears shorten from 4th to 6th to provide more use of the powerband at high gears. So that I liked.

At first, I felt as if the car understeered for no reason at all. But then I realized I was too used to driving on Race Softs... This car still wouldn't accept trail braking though. I like how max power wasn't the aim for this tune though, it kind of says true aftermarket tuner, not crazy nut job.

So, I decided to actually hot lap a bit. In Tsukuba, I got a 58.278 without changing a single thing from the original tune. It's a fast car, no doubt. Good job.

Edit: Damn, I just read through the post and realized how messy it is. Certain aspects here and there mixed together.

You may enjoy my upcoming R34 then, though it's tuned specifically for use in a certain nearly-nightly room... Slightly more power than Roj's but running 1555kg instead, so far it's done mid-high 57s at Tsukuba online...

That said, I'm noticing every last one of the issues you mention with my own car; certain inputs simply cause understeer.

Well, I'm looking forward to driving it. I just realized my RS6 and R32 GT-R are also running your tunes. Was meant to review both too... They'll come soon. I could kind of be a test driver with all these tunes I'm trying out. :sly:

The main example of this is the Impreza STi and Volvo C30. Their peak power is at a much lower RPM than where an automatic would shift. Therefore using an automatic with those cars will be noticably slower than using a manual gearbox, because the auto wont stay in the powerband. Now with individual ratios, an automatic would make our gears seem way too long, but a manual would allow you to see why the gears are so long. Hope that helped.

The understeer is something I want to tune out of the R34, even though it isn't that bad on understeer and it's a very stable car anyway. Tuning that last bit of understeer out would let it ascend to the next level. :)

Glad you liked the gearing set up. :D

You're welcome to test as much as you want. :P
<3 it got a 1:29 on madrid with automatic... on seasonal event forgot to change to MT.
Great! :D

I kind of understand that but I don't plan on start using Manual Transmission, what do you recommend then? Keep using just the Top Speed value?

Set Final 1, then Max Speed, then Final 2 + individual ratios.
1st:-- 4.139
2nd:-- 3.037
3rd:-- 2.367
4th:-- 1.931
5th:-- 1.603
6th:-- 1.390
Final: 4.300/2.500
Max Speed: 124 MPH
I don't get it

The max speed by default says 199?

What do you mean by final 1 & final 2? Do I need to first set the final gear ratio to 4.300, change the max speed to 124, adjust the final gear ration again to 2.500 and then do the individual gear ratios?

Hmm, a track monster? Sounds great, but pink doesn't really match, because Godzilla is not girly lol.

I'm gonna add you up tomorrow because I don't have the time now. I'll set it up a bit first, but you may need to add extra mods because I'm not a genius in tuning cars...

Yes. Final to 4.300, then max speed to 124, then final to 2.500, then individual gear ratios. Effectively this allows close gear spacing without sacrificing top speed.

@uMadson?

umad? All R35s should be painted pink; it may not be a "girly" car but it certainly should not earn respect for the owners of such cars.

Sweet. It's for a supercar online championship, max BHP is 601 so I'm hoping it does me proud!

I don't get how you 1.676 for the 4th gear on the z06. The highest mine would go is 1.585. I'm confused and kind of new to this.

NVM I got it! Thanks! You guys tune awesome cars (:
