RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

Come on, RJ, ya just gotta believe in yourself.

It's not a matter of believing or not…though I do think he has some confidence issues as the guy who can guess tune about 70% of the cars in the game (I reckon).

It's more an issue of the differences in the tune. It's 400hp/SS vs 605hp/RS, say you gain 5 seconds with the extra power and 10+ seconds with the tyres, he'd be down by 15 seconds on paper, and have lost by 15 seconds already without even beginning. He just needs to have it paired against something more within said specifications.

Which isn't really the way I operate. I'll do the comparison, but as RJ said, there isn't a high chance of victory.

Oh I believe in myself plenty.

I just know when I'm gonna lose a fight.

It's probably somewhat lower than that. I can guess tune and get somewhat close to what I want straight off pretty often, but to get a good tune done with me never having touched the car requires good feedback.

Yep, exactly. It wouldn't be fair to my car to put it on race softs at max power either; I already know it's too soft for that. In fact I can pretty much guarantee this is how it'd go:

Understeer on entry and mid-corner.
Understeer transitioning to excessive oversteer on exit once it does break traction.

Which would mean, if not putting me in the gravel, a much slower turn, which always equals lower lap times. We could hope that all the tunes aren't powerhouse tunes, but the chances of that...:indiff:. Still, eventually there will be a review of the tune on iTunes, if we can figure out how to put it together.

Hey guys, I followed this thread for a while hen I never had account and used local library, have you got setup for a 2012 Nissan gtr dlc car?

You've come to the wrong place for an R35 tune. Just get out quick. :P Before Roj throws something at you for bringing up a hateful car.

It wasn't even tuned, more of "lol these numbers worked, good enough". It was my '09 SpecV that only had an ECU and a suspension and the numbers were just something I sorta threw at it, they worked well enough for 56s at Tsukuba online with Sports Soft tires. It was good enough considering I only ever drove it to shut down someone else using an R35.

With that said, there's 3 kinds of RKM tunes.

RKM Official Tunes - Anything linked in the first page.
RKM Unofficial Tunes - Any setups we've posted but haven't linked, including requests.
RKM Regrets This Tune - Any setup we've done for a car we really don't like.

:P

And that spells O.U.R tunes.

I'm curious as to how comparing all tunes of a particular car is much of a comparison at all. A modestly powered car on properly balanced tires that can slice through corners with ease would be a much better tune than the 800hp RS-shod monstrosity that corners at 5mph due to under steer going in and snap over steer coming out. But, of course, it would "lose" on lap time even by virtue of tire difference.

If you're going to do it, do it right and break it down into categories: tires, power, PWR, PP range...something, anything. Dumping everything into one batch is, for most cars, a meaningless waste at best.

Think of it like this. Let's say a newbie has just bought his brand new Dodge Challenger SRT8 for the muscle car competition. B-Spec. He fully juices it, maxed out on racing soft. So, he then wants to get the most out of his new car.
This is where I come in. Instead of testing the MANY tunes there are for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 '08, all he has to do is listen in to our podcast, and we'll tell which one is best.
