RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

So if I'm not mistaken, somewhere on share there should be an '00 Camaro with a goofy tune that I threw at it for laughs that feels weirdly good. Way too much throttle-steer for racing but otherwise it doesn't seem to have any terrible traits, which considering the setup... Anyway, someone give it a go for laughs, I guarantee nothing other than it's fun to slide and might possibly go around corners in a normal fashion something resembling okay. Maybe.

Review of C63 AMG -

I was always looking for something that would handle like a race car but kick out here/there around the bends, I've found just the car. RKM's c63 is just remarkable. When you hear 'c63' you'll think about smashing into the walls but you're wrong because with the tune they've produced, you'll be staring at the world through your rear view!

I did an oil change on mine so it's good for about 570 horsepower, i raced my friend who had a maxed out M5 '08 but he reduced limiter to 580 and he could not get past me although he had a very good tranny tune on his. Although the rear wheeler is very back-end happy, after a few laps you'd have mastered how to drive this BEAST.

The way the back end slides out is just right! It's not too much and not too less. You don't need to be a pro to drive this car, overall this car will destroy anything of the same league.

Not to mention, this is not all they've pleased me with. I also built the subaru they put up, mine runs 410hp with an oil change. In other words, IT'S a race car that's disguised as an sti. I was racing my friends yesterday around nurburgring. I was in this subaru, there was the 580hp M5, 600hp RS6 and a mitsubishi evo 8 RS with 530hp. On the straights they had obviously left me behind but I wasn't bothered because I had them on the inside of every corner haha!

They didn't believe the car was 410hp, sometimes I even don't! This is a spectacular car. Keep up the work RKM. Hope this is good enough Roj 👍

Cheers for the reviews! 👍

Funny you should mention beating an M5, as I was gunning for Rotary Junkie's M5 tune when I made the C63 originally. Didn't quite manage to beat it but I believe it was close. Just don't tell your friend we have M5 settings. :P

Glad you had fun with our Impreza too, but I don't know which Impreza you used. We have too many to keep track of.

And yeah just shoot me a PM with what you need. 👍

Haha I won't, i can't find Rotary Junkies M5 tune? And I think it's the sti 400 or something like that :P 👍

Tuner Comments:
It's been a long time coming, but here it is. This violent violet machine is the S2000 GT Turbo, an all out track day car with no expense spared. It looks mean, it sounds mean, and it blows away any sports car you put it up against...

DGT wheel user here.
I tested this tune at the ring and at tsukuba. The only differences were using racing soft tires, decreasing pp to 505 and using different gearbox settings.

In my opinion this is an ok tune for tsukuba but way too tight and low to the ground for the Nurburgring. The car also still has the nasty snap oversteer that plagues the s2000, especially the 06' version. The car has great turn in and feels maneuverable but it is not too precise when it encounters bumpy surfaces.
Also the wing/aero package slows this car down a lot. Yes, it provides some downforce around some turns and keeps the backend from washing out, but bottom line is I was 3.5 sec slower than with my own tune at the ring. Also, those gear ratios are just not suited to a low torque car like this. The car was pig slow from a dig, so I HAD to alter the gearing.

I really think a street car below the 550pp level does not need a wing, if you can somehow tune it without the wing I think it would be faster.

Just my 2 cents.

Forgive me for saying this, but you're not really qualified to criticise, you've changed the gearing, tyres and performance of the original tune, which affects the driving dynamic vastly...

So less power and about three times more grip than it was designed to use... Okay.

Again, more grip and less power than it's meant to have.

I agree if you're using race tires, but I guarantee you it's a bit of a different deal when you have less than stupid amounts of grip. Back in the Spec I days I used to run 535PP "Street Legal" races with a few friends from another game, over half the cars that wound up fast wound up running wings just because rear grip was sort of at a premium with 380+hp through S3s, even some of the AWDs benefited from rear downforce just so they could be run with more aggressive suspension settings.

I think the main issue is that you're detracting so heavily from the original spec that none of the settings do what they're supposed to anymore. It'd make more sense to find the S2000 setup closest to 505PP (my Honda S2000 tune has 495PP, won't take much to take it to 505) and then see how it goes from there. Dragonthing's tune relies heavily on the turbo to make up for the lack of torque, so the resulting gear ratios wind up useless for an S2000 with less power.

Edit: FD2 update.

<- Not hinting anything, honest.

Just gone to do this and as per above, your post says to adjust the rear but you can't, you can only adjust the front?

That's because I have a special RWD Insight, gifted only to me by Kaz. ;)

Okay, okay. Truth is I just put the LSD settings in the wrong column. :dopey: I'll fix it now.

i looked up your s2k tune, it is tuned on sport soft correct? Why don't people let out racing soft tunes? The majority of folks online run racing softs so what is the scoop?

I didnt think that the tires would make such a difference on the tune, I mean, tires with more grip should make the car perform better, no? Anyway, sorry if i was a bit harsh on my review and I can see why I am probably not the best person to do this review as I only run racing soft on my cars. Thanks.

Because a lot of people on this site prefer to use sports tyres on sports cars and racing tyres on racing cars. Also putting racing softs on a 500PP car just makes it so easy to drive that it becomes boring because the car is so neutered. Put some sports tyres on and the car comes to life and becomes much more interesting to drive.

Of course some people care only for lap times and I respect that, so if people want racing tyre tunes for 500PP cars, they can request them via the normal method. But when it comes to tunes I do for my own enjoyment, I stick to my sports tyres. 👍

Hopefully, as a new year's treat, I will be posting up a rather special tune called the Shadow. All you need to know, is it's one hell of a challenge to drive in all the right ways...

I'm still not sure if you RKM folks still remember me but I'm going to greet y'all a happy new year.

My PS3 is inside its box at the moment because I'm not using it for a while but next year, I'll give one of your cars a run to scratch some rust off my driving (and possibly cars ). If I fail to do so, tape my limbs up with gaffa tape (or whatever it's called) and drown me in the ocean. :D

Yea…right…go on, RJ's PS3 is back, so get it done and dusted with already. You've kept us waiting for long enough. :P
:P
Stance is the least of your worries, that's just because of the cambered turn...this is evil
But is it eviler than Skeletor? Also Stancewagon.

Of course we remember you. :P It's not 2013 here yet but Happy New Year anyway!

You should give the ol' NSX-R a run. It'll slap rust off the man. :dopey:

I was thinking of something that is under the brand I've been a fanboy of loyal to... so maybe either your R34 or your S13. I have thoughts of buying a Logitech G27 though so, who knows, I might bring your NA2 for a run too. :P

So that you can actually keep up with me and not just get blown away like before? But yea, get your backside back on…we've not missed you.

Because countersteering with a controller simply makes GT5 a game. I want an experience, not just a mere game. :P

On the bright side, if you like beating me over and over then getting used to the G27 will be a delight in the first few weeks of racing.
