RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

RKM Motorsport review.

I shall start by saying this may be the greatest tuning thread on the whole of GTPlanet.

I consider myself a good racer, I have liked cars and motorsports all my life and am a massive fan of Japanese cars. And I drive using a DFGT.

Mitsubishi - Lancer - RKM Evo X -

This has always been one of the best cars ever made in my eyes. I first of all had it fully tuned and it was ok.

Then I came across your thread. This Evo is incredible!
Its the perfect car for the Nurburgring, you can just point it at the corner and floor it. It just doesnt crash. The only thing is that I personaly needed a slight bit more rear downforce because the backend of the car seemed to let go and slide too easily on some corners. The understeer that haunted me for months has been tamed.

Honda - NSX-R -

Before your tune (and an episode of Top Gear) I never really paid attention to the NSX, But after trying it out I thought it was quite good. Then I did your tune. This is the perfect MR car, No other MR car is this stable, It handles like its AWD! Nothing else in its class can keep up. Its so light!
At first I thought it might have been underpowered but infact its just totaly spot on. Didnt paint it red though.. Sorry :)

Nissan - Skyline - R34 Black -

Your right about this being un-crashable. Its stupidly fast too. Another perfect Nurburgring car that just shows how good Japanese cars can be.
I play online with this one alot, I find rooms where people are flying round the 'Ring in supercars and Im keeping up/overtaking them. The perfect Skyline! Did'nt paint this black though.... I'm really sorry.

Honda - Integra - Type R Turbo

Always liked this car, abit. It was always too slow or too understeer-y.
But after the RKM treatment its now the best handling FF I own! The gear ratios work so well on this high-reving Honda monster!

Going to try more of your cars very soon, such as your R32 Skyline, CRZ Type R and STi S400!

Thankyou so much, Ive won quite a few races because of you guys!

Since a lot of people seem to want a tune for the XJ13, miura and ford gt mark IV but haven't got round to reviewing any cars yet, I thought I'd request the tunes for them. So now I've written up 3 reviews, go tune up the three cars.

btw, your gonna run out of tunes for us to review soon, so hurry up and give us some more :D

I have one...

graciously requesting a tune.

Tune my 330p4 :) i love your Enzo and killer whale tune
If you want requests doing, I'll have to point you towards the first post of this thread. At the bottom of the post is a little guide on how to request a car, thanks. :)

Thanks for the reviews! Normally we wouldnt accept requests for a couple of lines but seeing as you've done 4 cars in a row, it adds up to a single whole review I think. Already discussed the request via PM's anyway. 👍

Seeing as I don't understand what you meant and nor do I know what the others wanted to do with their cars, I filled the form in with what I wanted from the tunes.
GTP Name: Onboy123
PSN Name: Onboy123
Your Car: XJ13, Miura, Ford GT Mark VI
Sending Your Own Car? Yes for the XJ13, No for the other two
If No, Specify Car Details: ---
Tuning Request: make the 3 cars as good, if not better, than their modern counterparts (XJ220, Murcielago SV, Ford GT)
Link To Review: just look for it, there are at least 6 to choose from and I still haven't learnt to hyperlink yet

(I'll provide the XJ220 for comparison when I see one in the UCD, if not, then I'll just share the XJ220 race car when I get the money for it)

But before u touch any of the classics, finish your college work and my CTR and the Quattro first :)

Why do you call it the Ikeamobile if it's not a Swedish car?

Because there are Ikeas all over the place... And what better car to make a run to grab some furniture than a gutted-in-the-back RS6 with 900hp?

Anyway guys, bad news. I can't tune any more. PS3's laser seems to be dying; when I do get GT5 running it freezes as soon as I do anything.

I hope that it can be fixed soon. You've been a good tuner and you've made good tunes too. And since you're a duo, you've efficiently split the labor 50-50 to minimize being jammed with loads of requests.

If nothing can be done and VTiRoj must be busy with college work then I'll just be patient. I've got a fully-tuned Countach LP400 ready for RKM magic but I'm still looking for the perfect time to send this baby (or fatty old bull?) to you guys.

Currently working on finding a way to get the cars already in my GT5 "inbox" done, it may involve a few people getting their cars tuned by the guy who tied for 2nd in the TCC this month though, seeing as Roj can't use my save.

Thanks for the support.

April Fools Karma? :sly:

Summat like that most likely. Also I reckon PSN says I'm playing GT5 because I got it to start yesterday, went to try to enter some A-Spec stuff and it froze in Extreme Hall without having loaded the pictures for event icons. *mumbles*

Also, MW2 is fine at the moment, just Black Ops and GT5 won't work. Iunno.

Edit: Looks like I'll be giving NTwo my PSN details and save to get the cars that everyone has sent back to them. May wind up getting him to tune them with a checkout pass from Roj and a lookover of the numbers by me as well. All further requests will have to go through Roj until I get something done about my PS3.

And regarding this. I'm still relatively new to this tuning thing, but with RJ yelling at me what to do, the tune should end up usable. However, 2 notes.

1. If you want RJ or Roj themselves to tune a car, PM RJ about it and opt out of having me finish it on RJ's behalf. RJ should be getting me a full list sooner or later.
2. I really don't want to actually accept people's cars, so I'll be using my own cars from my garage to do the tuning on. So some cars which I don't own yet may end up waiting until RJ gets back.

Simply put, I'm here if you don't care that it's not RJ/Roj tuning your car. But they both will have enough input into the tunes so that they should be close to RKM quality.

I'm gonna go with a Volvo C30 on this one. Not only is it quick and Swedish, it even has a hatch ;)

You can't do the stripe in-game, but blue paint with yellow wheels seems appropriate. If I were you, I would have called your Audi the Mom-obahn Edition or something like that.

Too bad they left the Saab 9000 Turbo out of the game.

Too bad they left the Saab 9000 Turbo out of the game.

I would have loved seeing some Saabs in the game, maybe they'll be in for GT6? ;)

But since I'm swedish, if there's a premium Volvo. I'm pleased. :)

RJ, I hope you could get your PS3 fixed. But meanwhile thanks for such great tunes. The C30RS is amazing. Thinking about getting a review up here, :)

That's okay though, Ikea packs all the furniture into those compact little boxes. Experts at saving space!!

RKM Motorsport’s Audi R8 V10

AudiR8V10.jpg

AudiR8V10_Big.jpg

First and foremost the first thing that I can say is:
HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF GOD

This car I bought after winning the R8 LMS after an awesome race at the 4h Endurance. After using the LMS I thought to myself lets try the R8 seeing as I didn't have one in my garage.

Driving the car as it is was nice and I originally went on the Top Gear Test Track to see how it went. The car itself was nice but for the driving style that I have...Somewhat of a heavy foot at times...the car wasn't sticking to the road as much. I wouldn't go as far as saying that the car would go off the track or that I lost, but I could almost feel the car go.

I use a G25 Wheel and using previous tunes have from this thread I went to my iPhone as I could be arsed to move away from GT5 :sly:

Anyway tune found as the above and started doing the bits and bobs to the R8. This time I went online with the R8 tuned to the RKM Standard. As I got on the track for a free run there was another R8 that came one. What luck...Although the other guy's R8 was fully tuned with parts there was no fine tuning tweaks or anything like that.

Shifter placed into 1ST, foot on the brake and then a dab of the accelerator...I had the volume cranked up and the wife walks in as it hits the peach

"WHOA...Turn that down, you'll scare the neighbour"

This car was saying drive me and I'll show you what I can do...The sweet sound got me a bit nervy...Did I just jump into the ocean and not consider getting used to the stand alone first. Stuff it, I eased round the TGTT with my foot halfway on the accelerator and the grips levels were really nice. I thought to myself there is something about this and so the foot went down and I went for it.

Coming to the first corner I braked hard and I could feel the the rear was slipping a little downshifted 2 gears and eased a bit off the brake. The car was sticking like no other. Into 2nd, clip the apex and hit it to Chicago. This time didn't apply 100% brake and the cars was gripping ungodly like...This car I thought needed a new name, going around Chicago like it was nothing. Then coming out of that I thought Hammerhead was going to show me what this car is about.

Hooning down I slammed on the anchors from 5th down to 2nd just as I enter and this thing would just not go...I floor it and then it starts to twitch as I am going through Hammerhead, ease of the throttle a tad bit and away we go. The R8 cruises all the way round like it was something out a fictional story.

In my opinion what VTiRoj has done here is take a R8 from captivity...treat it well and build it up and then giving it the skills it requires unleash it to the world.

The only thing I can say is what I feel and that this R8 is one the most exciting and intriguing cars I have in my garage. This will be in use a hell of a lot.

I will post some pictures of this animal...But maybe this car needs a name...Audi R8 V10 just doesn't cut it. It's Awesome.👍

Dear RKM,

I was delighted to see you've added the F1 to your tunes. I've just managed to acquire this beast and applied your tunes.

I can see why there is no need to increase the HP! This beast is untamed at best! Maybe I have got used to your NSX 3rd tune :)

Now I don't pretend to say I provided a decent review (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5021799#post5021799) but may I kindly ask whether you can provide a complimentary tune for the F1 Stealth? The setup limits are slightly different and you can adjust the front wing. I've applied your F1 tune straight to the stealth version but I feel there is much more potential in terms of stability, handling and overall speed on the stealth, even with the lower HP.

Understand you are very busy and have many more interesting tunes in the pipeline. Thanks for the many tunes already that have extended my GT5 life and enjoyment. I've tried a few of the other 'houses' but I always come back to RKM. If you could spend a few moments to provide a 'McLaren F1 pack' that includes the stealth then I (and I assume others) would be very grateful and much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi there i'm here to ask RKM Motorsport permition tu include their tunes for GT5 in CHM file that i'm doind as a database. I first started this to personal use only but i manted to share it and i'll only realse it with RKM Tuners permission.
at first i'll just release the preview of my work with some of the tunes that RKM made for users to see what i'm doing.
hope for a answer soon.
Keep it up

Here is a preview for RKM to see

The Ferrari Enzo, perhaps one of the greatest Ferrari's ever made. But it also seemed to be one of the more overrated cars in the game. I'm not saying it's bad, but just not as good as it should be. It can't corner quite as well as it should, it isn't as forgiving as it should be and consequently isn't as fast as it should be.

After 9-10 laps of the TGTT, and with most of the laps consisting of me wrestling this Italian rhino into a corner, I concluded that it would run, at best, a 1:07.xxx. But with my best lap being 2 seconds down on that, I may have been too optimistic.

It is just too unforgiving. You have to keep you eyes on so many things. The speed, enter a corner too quickly and it would spit you off the track in a spectacular plume of smoke and an equally spectacular bill for restoring the chassis. The revs, if it over revs during a corner it will let go and hurl you backwards off the track, again leaving you with a eye-watering bill to pay for the chassis repairs. Oh and most importantly, you have to keep an eye on how much space there is until the next corner. If you don't brake in time, it will kill you. There is no other way of putting it, it's only wish in life is to wrap itself around a tree with you dangling helplessly out the side window, dead.

Ok, RKM setup applied, out of more laps. There isn't much difference, you still need to drive with the accuracy of a sniper's aim and it still won't forgive you if you don't concentrate, but it is better. It's more tied down to the road, it doesn't feel like it will understeer off into a wall and it's more enjoyable to drive now too. It seems to be set up for people who have a wheel rather than a normal controller. It reacts best with gentle touches of power and small twitches on the steering rather than huge kick of throttle and wildly hurling it into corners. But I have to very honestly say, it is just…well, sort of nearly as good as the NSX but with temper issues. It did a lap of 1:06.960.

btw, change its name, cuz it sure as hell is NOT a GT car. Just change it to 'GTO'. It's more deserving to wear that badge than the 599 on steroids Ferrari made themselves.

Laptimes (tested on TGTT)
1:09.854 (before)
1:06.960 (after)

Thanks for the review! 👍 The R8 is a beast and a half and it suprised me just how capable it is. The brakes are scary but as you said, you just dont have to use 100% of the braking force anyway. As for changing the name, maybe, maybe. :P Oh and to answer your PM, yeah I can sort you out with a tune after this review. 👍

The F1 Stealth is one that I intend to do. Thanks to the extra downforce it's got much more potential than the normal F1. I'll have something done for it in the near future.

The Enzo is a hard car to actually improve on because of it's natural flaws, so the best thing to do is to improve it's ease of use and go from there. It was tuned with a pad and a wheel so it works on both but of course the wheel is better. As for changing it's name, I'm not sure GTO suits it because it's still got so many flaws that let it down. GT kind of suits it because it's more of a cruiser than a proper track car I think.

Oh well, the Enzo is still quite a good car, but anyway, has the tune up for the 3 classics been accepted yet? and I don't think car sharing would work cuz the settings don't save after you return the car to us.

Yes but it wont be done for a while, looking at the current waiting list. That's true, but as long as we write the settings down and send them in a document over to the owner, it works.

I just tried out the 430 Scuderia tune and I love it! I'm not the best driver but I got very good laptimes using this. The handling is amazing, and I love the way you can induce oversteer.

I'll definitely be using more of the tunes here, and try to get some before - and after results.

I just used your tune for my newly purchased 908, just with the Peugeot livery. It's awesome. Laps 3'23 on La Sarthe 09, and that's in the hands of an, at best, mediocre driver using a DS3.

Just a little heads up/preview/whatever. I have several reviews for you guys in the works...and you owe me a pen. I'm down one writing all the things I was noticing as I was running your tunes through the paces! Shortlist I have the NSX, Gallardo, LFA, MX-5 and I wanted to get in a short update on Juliet. I also picked up a Mach 1 to put through the RKM Treatment™. :sly:

I've read through most of the 80+ pages in your thread but I wanted to ask if there are any tunes you haven't seen reviewed or fewer reviews than others? I've seen lots on the NSX and RX-7, which I would consider to be RKM "signature" cars, but which tunes are reviewed less than others? Eventually I plan to get to all of them but I'd like to prioritize some of the cars that are a bit less noticed.

At any rate, keep doing what you do so well. Hope RJs PS3 gets sorted soon too!
