How important is the inclusion of rollover physics in Gran Turismo 5 to you ?

Rollover's are very much a part of racing. Learning car control to avoid it makes for a better driver. It's learning how far you can push the car to the edge.
I think this is one of those areas that video games give younger drivers the illusion that they can take a turns at fast speeds, & the only consequence is running off the road.

Since there is NASCAR, we need rollover's especially at Daytona.

Now only if we could get out of our car and sprint across the finish line.:P

I think the only poll weirder than this one is the Rewind Button poll. What's even stranger?

More than 70% think it's at least a great addition, and about 30% think it crucial. Ehh??

The rollover nanny is what some of us theorize (well... me, anyway) is keeping us from three-wheeling our way around the track in GT4 and GT5P. I could care less about multiple barrel rolls and the like, but just the fact that whatever is preventing rollover in GT is preventing three-wheeling grates on my nerves. Allowing full rollover instead of just nannyingly limiting car roll to certain point will also prevent things like the GT3 wheelie exploit.

Good feature in rally racing sum but it hardly happens in tarmac with normal cars. Of course there is A-class Mercedes and Citroën 2CV which have rollover writen on standard accessory list :D

2CVs don't rollover.

Granted they need castors on the wingmirrors, but they don't rollover.

The physics could well be the best ever if this is possible.

EDIT: BTW this is Monza 1993, with Christian Fittapaldi at the wheel.

I think rollover would be a nice feature because it would make the crashes a joy to watch and not a pain in the a**. Hahha, Famine, your quote at the bottom reminds me from Top Gear when Jeremy got that letter from the Morris M' Owners Club saying "If I see Jeremy Clarkson down the street I will poo into my hand and throw it at him" Good times :)

Roll-over would definitely be a great and invaluable feature.
We can learn a lot from it when we're pushing all the virtual cars to the max.

There's no two ways about it. It would be cool to have.

I completely agree with niky, this is THE most important feature on the whole list. If rollover is implemented for production cars, we might finally see front wheel drive cars come alive!

🤬 the damage, at least rollover is in. :) At least cars won't behave as stupid as this Toyota Estima in Enthusia:

i think the car is sick and has a hiccup ;)

It is intriguing.

I must say I am kinda bummed to only hear about it and not see it in PD's presentation. IMHO, they really should've walked us through some of the key points of their presentation.

But I digress.

If the cars can indeed go end-over-end, I'm curious if things like this would be possible...

that's what happens if you give the car red bull ;)

All I can say, in a sim like this, rollover had better mean the end of the race. Plus B-Spec Bob better be a lot more trust-worthy in this game. 23hrs 45mins of LeMans, Bob is due for his last pit stop before changing to you and........he rolls it.:banghead:

I Agree..

I also hope that although its a feature they don't make it easy to do just so people can witness it, that would be one of the worst things they could do with it in my opinion

Or turn turtle. Either way, we're going to have lots of fun tonight.

Or is that the day after Christmas? Or March? Or Christmas 2010? :ill:

I hope there are no invisible walls in the WRC, then this would be funny to see on a tricky bend or something ( could go hedge hoping ).

Yeah, it's not the actual rolling over that excites me, it's the fact that it means the dreadful Gran Turismo Land levels of gravity that have existed since the first game was released are no longer. 👍

Indeed which is why I voted "Very Important". Very good step in the right direction now these limitations have been removed.

far out this thread just reminded me of a dream i had last night.

I was playing prologue and i could flip the car over, undercarraige was detailed but not very well

i say very important because the cars will have had to have been loosened. a big drawback from previous GTs was that the cars always felt very stiff, and this is a big improvement from the physics.

I don't crash enough to need vehicular rollover. The fact that cars bounce off the walls and other cars with no real similarities to real life IS a bigger concern which I hope they are addressing in the final build.

It's not about the crashing it's more important real world thing's as mentioned, like 3 wheeling on corners etc

It's the reduction of like 30000 % gravity to real world limits
