I think as of last night I was already cumulatively 10+ sec off the pace in mid-west, man some people are crazy fast out there....

Better to stick to my day job:D

I thought the cars are easier to drive than the original GT Academy demo last year though, and are actually pretty fun to drive on the tracks they picked...

I apologize as well. However, I do stand by my statement. That is really stinking cool. How did you manage to come into that kind of opportunity?! You're also the guy that holds first place in the southeast division on Tsukuba circuit, aren't you? Or is that Rome that you are first place in?

as far as Daytona, I registered for the race, then did what I could to get as high in the field as I could manage. as for the scholarship shootout, I read about the shootout from previous years, and I inquired. they told me to fill out an application and send it in along with a resume. so, I did, and they let me know I was approved. the plan is to go back to SBRS as a tech, and work for them for a few years, then move on to a pro team somewhere in the world.

no, not Tsukuba. I'm losing almost half a second at the hairpin alone. I did hold first place at Rome for a minute. I think there's a couple people that found an extra tenth, though. I'm taking a break from this, at the moment. I think I'm 6th in the southeast overall, and 21st nationally overall. I'm fine at the moment. I want to get all the special races completed, and try to finish as much of the A-Spec races that I can manage. I'm gonna hit it hard, though. I need to find about 1.7 seconds on Cape Ring, and I should be leading the southeast and be top 10 nationally. are you in the southeast?

Who else here uses the "leaders ghost" as a way to gain time?

...I find it helps me get faster, because it allows me to push the car a little further than what I am used to.

Typically I use a ghost that is .5 faster then move up as you get quicker. I found myself getting frustrated trying to keep up with the leader in the Indy TT last spring. Just went with this strategy and it worked quite well.

^^I've been thinking of doing that also, seems like a good strategy as you aren't aiming at getting sec's off rather 100'ths of a second ...and moving up that way.

yup, you will also find that one ghost is way better in another sector then the other ghost. When you combine the 2 great laps you might be even faster!

Exhibit A: Choate on Cape Ring :sly:

Good advice...going to load some other ghosts to see how other take the lines on rome and cape ring.

The first section you did was probably perfect. I can't seem to get ahead of you on that first series of turns. Practice, practice, practice.

Choate51 , you fast bastard.

Leave second place to me, I want that cockpit on week 2 =)

P.S. I've played a few different sims for the past 2 years, and people always complain about the "drifting". There is no way people are going to be happy when they can't go as fast.

I wish I knew how many people tried using the HB because of me and kept spinning out. I am sorry I had to get first for a while and have that juicy replay up there lol

I don't use ghost cars, they are highly distracting to me. Seems like there are quite a few fast people in here, hopefully I even make the top 128 in the West...

R1600Turbo, I'd recommend watching replays at the very least. If making it to the top 128 is something you want, then keep practicing!

Good luck!

I did the 4-hour roadster endurance at Tsukuba the other day, so I pretty much have that track memorized. Rome and Cape Ring are going to be a problem for me, I can see it.

Got my fast time back. Still a lot of time to gain. Specially on the first corner.

I will do a few more laps later tonight but then I have to stop playing for a week or 2. When I come back I am going to hate the times!

My replay for Rome and the Cape are UGLY, my lord
It's pretty funny

just took fast time at rome!
I can't believe I found some time. I keep effing up the chicane and the hairpin.

ugh tsukuba is frustrating the crap out of me. i'm trying to follow the #1 west ghost's line and i can't figure out how he does some of those corners so sharply without losing speed.

quality work man, don't stop! You're driving is damn good man, and while I'm morally opposed to leaving the racing surface, after watching your cape ring lap, I think I'm going to have to after that double apex right hander halfway through the lap..

The beginning of the end.

Keep in mind where you choose your racing line. If it looks like you get an unfair advantage by using off-track parts of the course, you could be disqualified.

Very true, this is why I will not use ANYTHING off the track.

Is this stated in the rules? If so, then I retract my statement from earlier!

Below is all I can find from reading the rules. Looks like that line won't work during the National finals, but it says nothing on the matter for rounds 1-3..

Sponsor may have one or more race judges on site to monitor contestants during competition. The race judges (whose judgment on all race matters is final) may monitor races and may issue warnings for behaviors that violate standard rules for professional racing. Examples include:
• A slower driver that is holding another driver up can be asked to move over. Failure to comply would result in a warning.
• Any driver that is overly aggressive or hits another driver
• A driver deliberately cutting a corner
• A driver not moving over when asked

Each contestant is allowed two warnings. A contestant receiving three warnings will be disqualified from the race. Certain flagrant behaviors may also result in immediate disqualification.

I think it'd be hard for them to disqualify the fastest people if all of them are doing it, and it's only 1 of the 3 tracks in question. If somebody was clearly off track multiple times, and hitting walls in all 3 laps, then I could see them disqualifying somebody, but not for just one track.. but it is the hardest of the 3.. This is a good question! Anybody else have any feedback, thoughts, concerns?
