This really is a sad state of affairs. If this level of turmoil continues into the later rounds, I see it being very unlikely that GT Academy will return to the US or even at all.

if that happens, i'm moving... anyone remember Scott Speed being the first American F1 driver since like 1993 (or 94?)?

yeah, it's going to be the same thing with GT Academy in US... no GT Academies in US for a long time after this one.

Lol - hey, Choate Good For You for figuring that one out. :sly:

If we saw the cheaters in person, you could say we would give then an "ee-ah full"

main reason i was thinking that PD was going to ignore the cheaters... better TV for SPEED channel... but i guess i was wrong, they actually wanted to do it right hehe

I hope we get 2 real courses where cheating can't benefit anyone. This $hit has only created an even bigger fire in me to get better. No one is going to take this away from me because some people have no honor, no respect, no integrity or ethics. I'm going to come out swinging in round 3.

Thank you cheaters, you've given me a PERSONAL reason to destroy you in round 3.

I'll be rooting for all you clean racers out there! Go out and just smoke 'em!

I didn't make it out of Round 1, but wouldn't even have wanted to if it meant running unclean laps to do it. My hat's off to those who can win CLEAN.

Thanks bro, cheers-

That would be a huge bummer if they did not bring GT Academy back to the US. But after this week could you blame them? They will improve the game and everything should move on. HOPEFULLY!! :nervous:

Well there goes all that work from yesterday. The satisfaction of finally hitting the kink perfectly after running 150+ laps at Rome, doesn't mean squat now. Chasing down Hunk's ghost at Madrid for an hour to finally beat him by .003 doesn't mean anything now either. Guess I'll find something to do today...

I almost wish organizers to pull a Cheaters Public Humiliation scheme. On stage with a free bus ticket home.

Well, this is frustrating but I think Sony/PD have done the right thing.

I wish some bans were handed out, but at least nobody was eliminated by them. 7 of the top ten on madrid bounced which put me in the low 20s overall(last i checked). So i could have been eliminated by bouncers. It was like practicing for WCG in PGR3 and 4 all over again.

Seriously.

You would only need to ban one person, and EVERYONE would think twice next time. Ban then all (anyone who cut at Indy, mowed hard at Eifel, or wall bounced at Madrid), or just some (those who did all 3), or just one (someone like Doctor_Ill who set the standard for cheaters)...I don't care.

I guess after round 3 they will all be kicked out the old fashioned way - by not making the cut...

Don't worry Turbo, I'll remember your swiftness!

Well dude, we should get some crazy online racing going to celebrate our moving on into round 3! :)

I just suggested in another thread that some "track officials" should review the incident(s) in question, and if infractions are found, they don't "ban" the offending parties - just institute a penalty system. Several seconds, or 10 grid spots on the leaderboards, for instance, should make ANYONE think twice about cutting corners or wall-bouncing.

Just an idea to think about...

I had something similar in mind. I mean.... honestly, if round 2 would have gone as planned, only 16 people per region would have advanced. With only 64 people advancing, how hard is it to get somebody to review that laps put up by those people and determine whether or not they used a giant game flaw to their advantage, then boot them, or at least nullify their time, if they did?

i was happy with indy and toscana i was sitting pretty with a ace of spades under the table but, what ever.I am happy its starting over because madrid and rome sucked .The 2 tracks dont seperate the men from the boys. This is a roller coaster ride .I taking time off work canceled doctors appointments exc.I feel like i have a shot if they make conditions slippery slicker oversteer whould be nice for a change .who is tuning theese cars awful . to get off topic i have dfgt wheel .does having a clutch give advantage.because if you can keep rpm up by slipin it that would be unfair not official (just curios).Iff it does going to get g27 is the pedals from g27 compatible with dfgt wheel and can you purchase them seperatly? or is there another sweet set of pedals that will work?

Gravy, I have found no advantage with the clutch, it makes upshifts/downshifts too slow compared to the non clutch.

IF anyone has an advantage it is those with a Fanatec GT2, GT3RS with the clubsport pedals. The FFB is more precise and the load cell in the pedals would let them brake with greater precision. If anyone has a T500 RS then maybe the 1080 degrees of rotation may and better FFB may give them a small edge. If you have a G25/27 or DFGT you should be fine.

Wait this is even more horrible than before! That means all of the cheaters just got a free pass to **** up the top 8 standings. I know I really do not have much of a chance but dammit. This is not cool, they better adjust the damn settings to monitor the top 30 replays or something...

I was on the bubble at 17 in the West but I think I could have made it. This is completely unacceptable!

WE NEED TO KNOW IF CHEATING IS PUNISHED OR NOT! This business of complaining is getting old.

Oh, but I want Bobo to kung-fu those cheaters right now!

Canceling Round 2 isn't an ideal solution but something tells me that Round 3 will have it so that touching the wall or wheels on the grass will mean instant disqualified lap. I still don't think the organizers themselves want to have human judgment enter the equation in determining a clean lap or not. As for the Round 2 prizes, my guess is that the Top 16 in Round 3 will receive them.

I'm happy for those that were going to be unfairly bumped but I also feel for all the clean drivers who put in so much effort this week to be at the top and not have it count. I know the cheaters have been getting recognition (for all the wrong reasons) but the clean ones should too. 👍

i did the bungee cord thing i realized it wasnt helping me. took it them off last nite and was faster right out the box but still dont feel like its good enough need better.i like the wheel but its not centering good anymore maybe its worn out .ps my fingers are happy they dont have to shift theese horible padle shifters:)

On another note: I'm really looking forward to meeting Blindside and Choate. Yall seem like awesomely good fellas :)

Right on Glenn, I can't wait to meet everyone in Orlando - but let's not get ahead of ourselves here... I'm going to be out of commission from 2/26-3/5, so if Round 3 is moved to that week my chances are severely diminished.

I actually think its a great move by Sony to take a step back and re-group because this competition has gotten well out of hand. Lets all be thankful that they are working hard to bring us a fair competition, its much better than no answer at all. I am actually happy they are making such a dramatic move, hopefully this will bring a better update to the game as a whole and somehow this cheating helped every player of GT5 since it seems there is a game wide update coming because of this.

Well now that round 2 was canceled what does that mean for the prize for the top 16 drivers in each region for that round (i think they got the SE of gt5)... since I am guessing the wiped all the times. just a thought

For this reason we are now working on an update that will help prevent this type of inappropriate driving.

Looks like GT5 is gonna get a lot harder. Good thing or bad thing, I don't know.
