I over cooked it going into one of the corners and slide the rear out enough to tag the wall. Kept me going in the right direction and was my fastest lap. But I kept pushing cause I knew I could go faster and eventually did, so it wasn't really that big a deal.

I don't get it - WALL BOUNCING!

I was on a very hot lap, and cooked it just a little much going into the final corner. I bounced off the wall and shot ahead past my ghost. I immediately stopped the lap because I didn't want to become the poster child for yet another course change, or something stupid like that.

But seriously, what the hell. If you so much as touch certain inconsequential walls, you get a red lap, but you freaking bounce off the back wall of a hairpin leading to the longest straight on the track and nothing...

If there were actual cash prizes on the line, I might have gone for it - why not. Someone on the bubble will probably go for it - what do they have to lose? I can settle for my previous 1:38.7, but that lap would have been about a 1:38.5 after the bounce...

I told you this in the Madrid practice thread and you pretty much made me out to be a liar or not know what I was talking about. I told you it all depends on how you hit the wall.

I gave it a go for about two hours here. It's not looking good for me.

Based of what I've seen so far, the fast drivers can get the R34 to brake and turn in on a dime, yet, when I try it, instant extreme understeer and right into the wall. Also, many corners are 2nd gear corners, yet, my car pushes like a dump truck with even the lightest touch of the throttle but others can use more throttle than I can and hold the racing line. Frankly, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or I need to adjust my wheel settings. I've been able to make it this far by braking earlier but using less brake and using wider arcs but that won't cut it in such a tight city course.

Over cooked the final corner, hit the wall, bounced off, beat my PB and ranked 7th. :grumpy:

Not happy that my best lap (and public replay) features a wall bump. Tried to replace it with a legitimate lap, but I'm at the limit for tonight. I'm going to give some more time tomorrow.

Which turn was it? Going forward, the angle for the braking zone of turn one was all off so this sort of thing was much less likely.

Either way, I apologize - I never meant to make you out to be a liar, and clearly it was I who could have been mistaken.

Ahh, therein lies the art of driving fast. It's all about having both of those factors going in your lap.

Mentally there are things you can do to help you get there. Like chasing slower ghosts, not just the top one. Taking breaks at regular intervals and restarting the track to get a refresh. Watching replays again. Also, if you find your self over driving the car it always helps to take the time to do a few slow laps where you go around the track at pedestrian speeds to get a new perspective on what your markers are and help burn the shape of the track in your head.

Try everything and anything you can, it works wonders!

Your totally right and on average I'm more than capable of maintaining a decent speed and angle on exit. But street courses, even though are faster for me than other courses, tend to also give me issues. I know one thing that I always do is kind of fling the car around the corner because either I apply too much brake pressure or not enough as the guys near the top and it forces me to correct mid corner, unbalancing the car. I know I can be just as fast if I could figure it out because there are certain sectors of the track where I gain speed because my line is better but I screw up so badly on other sectors that it costs me 2 seconds lol.

Do appreciate the discussion though, it's helping me to try and think about the course another way.

So who's Ghost Replay is a good Replay to follow?

I've managed a 1:40.7 but I know I can manage a 1:39.

Fix, obviously - he's the best. 0.150 faster than everyone.

I have a 1:38.7, but it's not that good. I lose almost 0.2s in the first turn alone. I also don't take the best line through the transitions in the middle section.

Man did I ever just screw up not only once but twice. Even though I bettered my lap by only .12 I still did it coming off the last corner wall. I was chasing Fix's goast when my daughter came in, lost focus for one minute and bam hit the wall. I thought I had seen it go red but was mistaken. I apologize as that is for sure not how I wanted to do it. I'll be putting in some hours this weekend to better the lap the right way. 👍

So how many of the top times are using the wall at the final hairpin? I'm following the SE 10th place ghost (I have no chance of advancing) and I lose about 1.3 seconds to him on the last sector because he's using the wall.

I don't think to many people are. Everyone is keeping it clean from what I can see. Now I can only speak for the west but so far I'm the only one that did. I'm trying hard to change that as we speak.

Went back to check out the standings and the ghost I'm following. And who is it? None other than:

zr1chris

Yeah, that's right. I'm calling you out.

Not at all. I'm in 59th on the track and he's in 11th now, and if it really were a mistake he would have backed off and voided the lap himself. Just watching the lap it's clear that the contact with the wall was intentional.

That's just stupid. If he was on a good lap he shouldn't trash it just because he hit one wall by accident. And judging by the fact that you're 59th on that track, I'd say that you might just be slower around that turn in general. I doubt the 1.3 seconds is coming solely from a wallbounce, otherwise there would be a 1:37 posted on madrid by now.

Sorry, but there's no way I'm losing a whole second at the hairpin when I'm nearly even with him prior to the turn. Unfortunately, he's no longer in the top 10 and I don't have the equipment necessary to upload the video, so I guess I can't convince you otherwise.

Right well I recommend you download the new #10 and use his replay and see if you are able to keep up with him as well.

Well, I just did and I can't. Lost only three to four tenths on the last sector. I wasn't running my best laps against this new ghost, but I can tell you that there is a significant difference between the time gained by this ghost and zr1chris's ghost.

:/ Well good luck. I bet chris will post a faster ghost without bumping the wall pretty soon here, he is rather quick.

What rpm is everyone shifting the GTR at? As you near redline, the boost pressure drops, but is there really a difference in power over the last 500 or so rpm?
