Team Numbers' report:
"Another reason why I do not like GT4 Rally, the tracks are not very well defined.
Mistral does go up on the the steep dirt bank at the end of the esses in the section in question. I actually ran a lap slowly through that section and I have two observations:
1. There is very little room between the soft part you can drive on and where it is hard and 'wall like' because it is steep here. I say 'wall like' as it does not behave totally like a wall in that it does not slow you down and it is not a hard hit unless you hit it with alot of car. You could hit it and not have any speed loss especially with up hill acceleration. And his speedo does flicker on 52mph as he goes up the hill but does not lose speed.
2. It is probably one of the easier parts of the track to avoid. In the ess section there are two lower berms and you can drive up on them aways before they get hard and it probably would be acceptable but the steep one I would have avoided.
So based on the replay alone I was inclined to say it was close but acceptable, but knowing how the car behaves there I would lean towards it not being acceptable. But I forget how the rules are written up and I do not think it warrants a DQ. I just think in reality using that part of the berm should have slowed the car and the penalty would be built in.
I myself would have considered hard not submitting that run just on the fact that is one area that it would be of no benefit getting into and it is easy to keep that part of the race clean. There were other areas that I had a lot more trouble trying to keep clean and Mistral nails them all. If PD had done things correctly they would have had more give at the edges of the track, but have it slow you down more as in slippery sand, loose dirt, grass etc. Then we would not be having this discussion."
