RX7 fastest!?

I normally do little stock competitions around the Ring in arcade on SS tires with comparable cars such as Skyline Mspec Nur, Supra RZ, Stang Cobra R, M3, RX7 Spirit R, NSX, 350Z etc. Well for awhile now the M3 has been holding the record, but with my recently aquired skills I was able to easily beat that time setting a 7:39 with the Mspec Nur.. The others are a bit harder to achieve that time with, but possible. The only car that I ASSUMED was faster was the NSX-R since I consistantly hit 7:36's back in the day like nothing.. So getting to the point, just for kicks I wanted to give the RX7 Spirit R a try since I was really enjoying it last time I drove it.. Threw the Skyline ghost replay on, and to my amazement I out did the Skyline on everything setting a 7:35 with an RX7!!?? I think the NSX-R may have it's hands full..

In defend of the Skyline, you should be driving the V-SpecII Nür if you want the best of every model. The M-Spec models are biased more towards luxury (if a GT-R can be that) while the V-Spec models are the fastest ones, the V-SpecII Nür being the culmination of the R34 development.

The RX-7 has a great advantage in the weight, so does the NSX-R. Of those two I'd still expect the NSX-R to take the trophy if both cars are driven to the maximum of their ability.

Hmm? I picked it up in some thread...

No idea where I read it though...

EDIT: Okay, prolly another instance of my mind playing tricks on me.

I truly believe that the RX7 is better than the skyline's, Evo's and dare i say it, Impreza's?

All i know is that most of the top places on the tsukuba curcuit challenge is dominated by RX7's!

And Corvette Z06 (C6 7.0L Monster) will eat them all, except the new GT-R R35, where I think it would depend on the track who would win there. Supposedly at Nurburgring the GT-R wins probably because it has AWD to put power down with in the twisties.

Probably, but the talk is about the Nurburgring and about GT4. And I'm afraid that GT4 does not have the R35 GT-R nor the C6 Z06. ;)

Yeah I know, couldn't help myself. I've done this a few times as well, running stock tune battles at Nurburgring, the Oz cars are real close, but how can you compare the standard Holden to an FPV, it should have been HSV vs FPV or Holden vs Ford, still- you can jack up the power to about 285kw for the power of the Clubsport on the SS and vs the GT against the Commodore, not as quick as them little pocket rockets you call cars, but they're cooler.

Of course RX-7 can outdo a lot in Tsukuba, but there are MANY things that factor into which car is better at whatever track it is..

For instance, have your driven the Skyline more than you driven the RX-7?
-You may have outdid the skyline because the skyline has been driven a bit more than the RX-7. Also, having driven the skyline first, I wouldn't expect you to screw up corners as much with the next car - which just so happens to be the FD.

Remember there are spectrums that categorizes cars:

Acceleration <---> Top Speed

Top Performance <---> Endurance

( Corners > Straights ) <---> (Straights > Corners )

I have an R33 GTR and a R34 GTR along with my RX7, and i drive them all regurlarly around the same tracks, midfield, tsukuba and of course nurbergring.

Notice how i said " i truly believe" as in, the FD is a much better car for me to drive, but i know people who are adamant that FWD is better than RWD!

Well, I beat the real-world Nurb time for a Porsche Carrera GT in an RX-7...
...the Amemiya RX-7.:D
Still has about half the horsepower though.

:-)

4DSC, you may also find it interesting to run stock supercars around Nurburgring to see which is fastest. Especially as many cars in GT4 didn't make production. See how fast they would have been if they did.

im using my rx7 with 534 hp w/o everything bought and it owns everything but endurances...thats the only bad part about the car its good for 8-10 lap races but not the endurances

Nice.

And no, no sig pics allowed. Somebody apparently was running around with a 850kb animated monster.

LOL

Try using N3 tires for that.. I don't know if you'll be able to then. I think thats similar to what the Carrera GT used in real life.

Yeah, should be a blast driving them with simulation tires :scared: (braking from 1 mile away usually lol..)

So what, the supercars are the fastest around the ring, don't you think it would be interesting to see which concept supercars would have been close to or even beaten the top time at Nurburgring (which I consider the Zonda, anyone can take a modified car and beat a factory tune so that M3 doesn't count :sly:) had they reached production.

I haven't driven enough FD-era RX7s yet in GT4 to fully form an opinion. :grumpy: Hopefully I'll get more RX7 action this year...

Yeah i totally agree, but i just really dont like alot of the braking systems on these cars especially the GT40.. It's really bad..

I dont use SS rubber cause its too grippy and unrealistic, but i do enjoy running these types of cars around the Nurburgring using RD (road) tyres.

I've got a huge list of cars from quite a few drivers that run the Ring at various Lans - http://www.joeracer.designdesktop.com/misc/GT4 Ring Openday TIMESHEET 2008.xls

If you sort through some of the times for various Japanese performace cars you can see that most are pretty even -

Yeah, should be a blast driving them with simulation tires :scared: (braking from 1 mile away usually lol..)

n3 tires aren't equivalent to real world performance tires... they are still performance RADIALS the Carrera GT probably used the equivalent of S2 or S3

That was me, and that's because they gave up on building a car as good for the money, it's either something cheap and dodgy- like Toyotas of current, or something super expensive and as a result- too quick, like Ferrari.

the japanese cars are THE fastest production cars in the game arent they?? faster than tuned zondas etc, correct?

I dont use SS rubber cause its too grippy and unrealistic, but i do enjoy running these types of cars around the Nurburgring using RD (road) tyres.

It seems like it's the other way around, no? I find it hard to believe that the way those 'simulation' tires react is closer to real life. Real cars are not so hard to drive at the limit as cars in the game are with sim tires. You have to brake from really far in the game, and you go really slow through the turns. But I have never been on a road course, only street racing.. So what do I know :guilty: stupid new york

the japanese cars are THE fastest production cars in the game arent they?? faster than tuned zondas etc, correct?

YES

That's because Japanese made the game and really truly tried to make their cars look best. Let me buy a stage 4 turbo for my Monaro and I will see you on the other side of 1500hp :sly: My CIEN beats every road car I've come across so far except one. That's R3 tyres and no hp improvements, come and see it at Aussie Tuners. Give it a review if you like. ;)

Powerwise maybe, but overall carwise, you couldn't be further from the truth. The platforms japanese cars are built on are just more balanced for performance driving in my opinion. :)

Id like you to find me cars that can set laps like the tuned Skyline and Evos can on any track. Ariel Atom doesn't count.

Key word "tuned" there, so my cars are allowed to be tuned as well? But lets talk stock vs stock, if you can show me one, just one N/A Japananese car in all history that would lap as quick as the Corvette Z06 C6 or HSV GTS, then I'll admit they're all they're cracked up to be. Key words "stock" and "naturally aspirated". Then I'll ask you forced induction, the Corvette ZR1 about to reach production- over 600hp, way over. One car, even forced induction that could ever consider beating that or even challenging that from Japan, even around a track. :sly:
