Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO (PS4/XB1/PC) - Milestone

In the demo you can choose between different times a day:
  • 6.00
  • 14.00
  • 18.00
  • Night
The weather is on all those stages clear. I don't think SLR will have a realtime weather system or a variable weather system. What I expect is that on all the stages one has some freedom on what kind of weather you want to drive in. Since it's simulation orientated I think you can choose the kind of weather that is possible for the rally you compete in.

In one of VVV video's Milestone shows a rock formation and then they add a snow layer for that formation. It would explain why on the Monaco video Alan was driving in semi wet conditions. There is another video where they shown Monaco covered in snow at night.

Probably as a player you have the options:
  • Time of day (in demo already)
  • Type of weather

Types of weather expected:
  • Sun
  • Cloudy
  • Rain
  • Snow
Gravel & Tarmac possibilities:
  • Dry
  • Damp
  • Wet
  • Snow
I wonder if Milestone was able to add addition types or a semi variable stage where the stage will start dry and end up wet or snowy. Monaco comes into mind. Do you guys expect?

I really like your entusiasm :gtpflag:
Keep em coming..
I think WRC 5 is a good game ( some stages ) but we (PS 4) need a Project Cars rally game. :)

Bit disappointed after downloading this. The feel with a pad is frankly awful, but I haven't played a racing game with a pad for a while, so I don't care as long as it comes alive with a wheel. Read that it supports Fanatec wheels so I plugged in my CSR and CSP V1, and it acts like the brake is pressed all the time, so it's unplayable. Very disappointing, definitely a game issue, as the pedals work flawlessly in every other game. Really want to have a go with the wheel too, as it's got my bloody car in the demo! lol.

Edit: Also, no external keyboard support like Pcars, so my handbrake doesn't work (my handbrake is wired to my keyboard, so I can't map it :(

I only have a pad and it took me some time to get used to it.

Try to enable brake support, it allows you to brake better and later. Brakes are very sensitive and there isn't enough feedback to tell you if you give the correct amount of brake pressure. After you have enabled the brake support make sure you check the car setup and then under advanced where you can set the brake sensitivity. The settings for the car setup can be found where you car is posed on the bridge. Pre-race menu.

Last thing you need to do is avoid the chasecam and use the cockpit, dash or bonnet cam. Hope this helps out.

Do you guys know if keyboards and/or fanatec wheels (or any other wheel) will be supported when the game is released?

Really sorry to hear that. Somehow the thrustmaster works normally (even though it is not listed in the demo so nothing can be mapped)

Cheers for the advice mate, but it's not really the reason why I dislike it with controller. It's more a matter of how overly assisted and artificial it feels with a controller, no matter what I did with the settings.

More than anything I just wanted to give it a go with the wheel, as that would give more direct control of the car, and I'm not used to pad driving anymore. Was stoked to find my wheel worked, and then utterly shattered when I found it was bugged so I can't actually drive lol. I tried restarting the game, and re-mapping the brake, but when mapping controls, every time I select anything, it immediately maps the brake to it, so it's definitely acting like the brake pedal is always held down. If anyone finds a workaround for this I'd love to know.

EDIT: sorry for the mis-information. It seems that it is still Europe only :irked:

It seems that the demo is up in the USA for at least XBONE

It's a shame that this looks like content being held back. Not something milestone can afford to do given their reputation.

So first holding back Pikes Peak cars as pre-order bonus, then now withholding content for DLCs? No thanks, my interest in this game has all vanished, no matter how great a car list it has.

I think Season Pass/Special Edition includes 3 Pre-Order DLC (Pikes Peak 1988, Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, Peugeot 405 Pikes Peak and Renault 5 Turbo) + DLC (Ford Focus '10, Hyundai Veloster, Hell Rallycross and new events for career mode) + DLC (unannounced content, possibly new rally and cars and new events for career mode)

The part that confuses me is that with every pre-order you already get the Pikes Peak Track and one of the '88 Pikes Peak car's. It would mean that the season pass has some of the same content as found in the pre-order which would make you pay "double" for some items if you have the season pass. That's why I asume there will be several packs and no single car dlc's. The season pass is €20,- so we could look at a normal price of around €30,- if you buy dlc separately. Just wonder if/how the pre-orders will be compensated....

1 Pikes Peak DLC
  • Peugeot 405 PP '88
  • Suzuki Escudo PP'88
  • Renault 5 Turbo PP'88
  • Track: Pikes Peak '88
  • New career events

2 Hell Rallycross DLC
  • Ford Focus '10
  • Hyundai Veloster
  • Track: Hell Ralycross
  • New career events

---------------

Speculation

3 Group B DLC

4 Classic DLC

5 Special Sébastien Loeb DLC
  • 2015 Peugeot 2008 DKR
  • 2016 Peugeot 2008 DKR
  • Track: Rally Argentina (3 stages)
  • New career events

But as many times before I am probably completely wrong

To those already doubting Milestone's DLC approach, I think it might be best to see what turns up and of course see when - this is their first true attempt at keeping folks posted beforehand and classically game developers haven't really been great at communication before the last few years.

It may all be innocent and destined for a four to twelve month release schedule, thus simply extending the game's playability. True, it might also be available off the bat, but we'll know that soon enough, eh?

@doblocruiser - cheers for the investigation work into controller options. I found it worked far better now and I even managed a first place run without hitting...much.

Thanks @MeanElf

This game seems to lend itself great for photomode don't you think @MeanElf ? Looking forward to the wet stages and some muddy cars to take pictures from. I just hope that Milestone manages to enhance the photomode a bit more with at least some shutterspeed, focus and field of depth options.

The scenery is very nice and while it it no driveclub it certainly holds up nicely. The demo stage has already a great atmosphere and there are a few surprises to be found 👍

What I saw on FB is that we can change the name on the numberplates, chooses driver and co-driver names and also customize helmet and suit. Very nice addition!

No worries 👍

Customising helmet and suit is new for Milestone - I can see that the facial details of the driver and co-driver have improved. I also meant to say that I'd be grateful if folks excused my apparently stupid number plate choice, as that's the default they provide in each of their games so it wouldn't be until the full game that we will be able to change that, which is when I'll have a completely different stupid number plate :)

More control over the focus and depth of field would be great, though it does have an automatic focus arrangement already in place which is an improvement on the more basic version that they used in WRC 4 - try it out amongst the grass and foliage, you'll see that each can be brought into focus individually, causing the rest to fall outside the depth of field, depending on how much zoom you have, of course.

As some of you guys may have noticed, there are issues with the demo and T500.

Right now my T500 is attached to my console, so that's a little frustrating. I also noticed that T500 game compatibility on the Thrustmaster support site no longer mentions Sebastian Loeb Rally PS4. So I decided to send Thrustmaster support a query:

Sadly the answer wasn't any help:
Regarding your T500 RS.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to answer that question until the developer of the game gives an official list of supported devices or until the full game is released.

To your question, at the moment, only the developer of the game can answer.

Lots of guys were asking the question on Milestone's Facebook page, but I didn't see any answers yet.

The game feels pretty good, definitely more realistic than WRC 5. I notice a bit of a dead zone off centre playing with a pad, but the overall feeling of the cars, the stage design, graphics and replays are much nicer.

However, I still can't help but think that Milestone would have sold a lot more copies if it were released around the same time as WRC 5 as there are two major things that will limit this title's success:

1. Framerate
2. Dirt Rally

The game looks nice, but you really do notice the 30fps when you go from playing (for example) F1 2015 or Project CARS which run consistently at 60fps. And with Dirt Rally just around the corner, it will be hard to justify buying this game even though it looks to be a more polished effort than WRC 5

I have played Project Cars a lot and even if I prefer 60 fps I cant really notice the difference with this game.
I think the game regarding fps and graphics is really good.
I have preordered this game even if Dirt Rally is just around the corner.
Hopefully they will both prove to be good and fun rally games.

What stage times are you guys and girls doing ?
Really different approach compared to WRC 5.
